Abstract

This article aims to find the meaning of Jesus' identity and mission in Mark 8:31-38 which is reflected in the lives of God's people today. The method used is through the reading of Mark's narrative theology. According to Mark, the kingdom of God is the only kingdom where peace and justice are abundantly available to all, because the identity and work of Jesus is the true Son of God, and not Caesar. Becoming a part of this kingdom requires imposing what is the identity and mission of Jesus into the readers of Mark's text. Thus, it is reflected and applied to God's people today. The results of this study show that the identity and mission of Jesus is the duty and responsibility of God's people as the son of man to dare to suffer, be rejected, and be killed, for doing the work of the Father, and be resurrected after death.

Abstract

The internet has grown in importance as a platform for religious speech and practice, with some considering it a suitable medium for magical experimentation and rituals. Sects and religious meetings have also found a new home in digital networks. Some religious societies have opted to shift their activities online, resulting in digital religion and hyper-mediated religious experiences. The use of digital technology has also fueled religious imagination, notably in the context of animism. The use of digital technology for spiritual reasons, known as technoshamanism, is becoming increasingly popular among neopagans, occultists, and New Agers. As a result, the internet has become a haven for digital deities and technoshamanism, opening new avenues for religious expression and practice. With this context in mind, the research focuses on digital religion, with researchers discussing how digital deities and technoshamanism are changing our understanding of spirituality. The purpose of this research explores how the internet and religion are transformed in the move from offline to online contexts into digital deities and technoshamanism. The rise of digital deities and technoshamanism is altering our perception of spirituality. As a result, the influence of digital deities and technoshamanism on the nature of spirituality is still being explored and researched, with consequences for both conventional religious organizations and the larger cultural environment. The research method of this study is library research, to gather information from books, journals, and online libraries.

Abstract

Divorce and remarriage are common things in today's post-modern society. Both of these practices are also commonly found in the lives of Christians. This is due to a lack of proper understanding of the Christian view of divorce and remarriage to those who have been divorced. In order to understand this, the author tries to build an understanding of Christian teachings through the text of Matthew 5:32. The method used to reveal the essence of true teaching is a grammatical-contextual exegesis approach. The grammatical-contextual method pays attention to the original grammatical rules and the context of the text to be studied. The results show that Jesus taught that both divorce and marriage to a divorced person are serious matters. Divorce as a result of adultery or marriage to someone who has been divorced is mentioned as sexual immorality in Matthew 5:32. This behavior causes a person to place the burden of sin on divorced husbands, divorced wives and even husbands who take divorced wives to bear the same sin of adultery and live in adultery.

Abstract

This research investigates language instruction strategies and professionalism alignment within maritime education, focusing on 45 junior cadets. Through qualitative analysis, findings reveal varying language proficiency levels among cadets, with a predominant need for technical terminology mastery and communicative competence. Additionally, cadets emphasize the importance of practical learning experiences, such as shipboard training, and the integration of cross-cultural competence training. The research highlights the alignment between language instruction practices and international standards, notably the International Maritime Organization's (IMO) Standards of Training, Certification, and Watchkeeping (STCW) convention. Moreover, professionalism attributes, including safety awareness, ethical conduct, and leadership skills, are identified as integral components of maritime education. Recommendations include the integration of specialized language resources, continuous evaluation of instructional practices, and the promotion of ethical leadership. By addressing language instruction needs and professionalism requirements, maritime education institutions can enhance cadets' readiness for successful careers in the maritime industry.

Abstract

Abstract

This study explores the understanding and practice of worship within the congregation of GBI Taman Permata, focusing on the phrase "worship Him faithfully." The research reveals that a deeper comprehension of worship leads to increased participation in church activities and a stronger commitment to regular worship. Using a qualitative approach, data was collected through literature review and interviews with members of the congregation. The findings suggest that worship, when understood as a personal and relational act rather than a ritualistic obligation, fosters spiritual growth and enhances community engagement. The study also highlights the transformative power of worship in shaping the spiritual lives of the believers, contributing to both personal and communal transformation.   Contribution: This study contributes to the understanding of how theological insights into worship influence congregational commitment and engagement in church life. It also highlights the role of worship in fostering spiritual growth and strengthening church community bonds.

Abstract

Sacrifice in general in the sense of some people is giving something as a form of loyalty or self-devotion in various forms, such as property, even life will be given. If we look at and have heard history, several civilizations in the past had immoral and inhumane religious practices. The practice of child sacrifice has been a subject of considerable interest and debate within biblical and ancient history studies. This study examines the narrative of the Binding of Isaac (Genesis 22) within the broader religious and cultural context of child sacrifice in the Ancient Near East (ANE). While the Akedah shares thematic similarities with ANE sacrificial traditions—particularly the motif of offering a firstborn to a deity—it simultaneously presents a profound theological and ethical departure from those practices. Drawing on textual, archaeological, and comparative literary evidence from Mesopotamian, Canaanite, and Phoenician sources, this paper explores the ideological function of child sacrifice in ANE societies as an expression of extreme piety, covenantal obligation, and ritual appeasement. In contrast, the Genesis account frames the near sacrifice not as an act of ritual devotion, but as a divine test of Abraham’s faith and trust. Significantly, the intervention of YHWH at the climax of the story—commanding Abraham not to harm Isaac and providing a ram as a substitute—functions as a narrative critique of human sacrifice and a theological reorientation. Rather than affirming the cultural norm of child sacrifice, the Akedah undermines its legitimacy and introduces a new paradigm: one that emphasizes divine provision, the sanctity of life, and ethical boundaries in worship. This paper argues that the story’s literary form and theological message must be understood both in dialogue with and in opposition to its ANE context. Through this comparative lens, the Binding of Isaac emerges not merely as a story of obedience, but as a transformative moment in the history of ancient religion—marking a decisive shift toward a moral and monotheistic understanding of divine-human relationships.
