Abstract

Ultisols is a soil order with low available P. Phosphate Solubilizing Microbes is a group of microorganisms that has the ability to release P for plants. The aim of this experiment was to determine effect of phosphate solubilizing microbes and P fertilizer on soil aggregate stability, PSF population and yield of maize (Zea mays L.) on Ultisols. This research was conducted from May 2016 to August 2016 at Ciparanje, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Padjadjaran. This research was arranged in Randomized Block Design (RBD), consisted of 9 treatments with 3 replications. The treatments were 100 kg ha-1 of SP-36 fertilizer, 50 kg ha-1 of biofertilizer, as well as combination of SP-36 fertilizer (50% and 100%) with the dose of biofertilizer (50%, 100% and 150%). This experiment showed that the combination of biofertilizer and P fertilizer gave significant effect on the population of PSF and yield of maize, but not for stability of soil aggregates. The application of SP-36 50 kg ha-1 and 50 kg ha-1 PSM combination gave higher population of PSF and yield of maize. Keywords:  Biofertilizer, maize, phosphate- solubizing fungi, aggregate stability, Ultisols

Abstract

Soil is a very complex and dynamic system, consisting of the solid, liquid and gas. The solid parts of soil is made from minerals and organic materials (rough and smooth). Organic materials with smooth from is called humic acid. This product is a result from oxidation polimeritation of compounds like phenol, lignin and proteins from plants also from the metabolism of microorganism in the ground. In general, the composition of organic matter is dominated by humin with large, medium and lower of molecular weight. Humic acid has the composition of elements like carbon (40-80%), nitrogen (2-4%), sulfur (1-2%), phospor (0-0,3%) and also oxygen. Humic acid has unique characteristics compared with fulvic acid and humin. One of the most spesific character is the bonding to interact with metal ions, oxide, hydroxide, minerals, organic, and toxic materials.Key words: Adsorbtion, Characterization, Heavy metals, Humic Acid

Abstract

The use of compound inorganic fertilizers in plant cultivation systems is on the rise because of their practicality, more comprehensive and homogeneous nutrient availability, and potential to reduce production costs. Different combinations of compound fertilizer products can generate a variety of responses in terms of plant growth. The aim of this investigation was to assess how plants responded to the components of their results, specifically the variations in two distinct compositions of compound fertilizers. This investigation divided 60 experimental sites into two groups, each using two distinct types of compound fertilizers. The macronutrient content of the compound fertilizers (NK and NP), distinguished them. This study employed nine treatments, which included a control (without fertilizer treatment), conventional NPK fertilizer, a combination of NPK fertilizers (3/4, and 1) doses with (1/2, 3/4, 1 and 1) doses of compound fertilizer, and a randomized block design Each treatment was repeated three times. The results of this study suggest that the application of compound fertilizer with two distinct compositions has a substantially different effect than the control treatment. In comparison to compound fertilizers with a higher potassium content, which have a yield component value of RAE 134%, the application of compound fertilizers with a higher phosphorus content can provide a higher yield component value of RAE 127.92%. The function of applying potassium-containing nutrients can produce better outcomes for corn plant than those with higher phosforus content, making it an interesting study that should be investigated further in the future

Abstract

These chemical residues affect the natural balance of soil biota, leading to a decrease in soil pH, areduction in Cation Exchange Capacity (CEC), and a general decline in land productivity. If not treatedpromptly, this damage could harm health and food sustainability. The application of eco-friendlyproducts in modifying soil characteristics, including high-quality zeolite, remains common today. Thisstudy aims to examine the effects of zeolite application on the dynamics of soil chemical characteristicsto promote the development of a sustainable agricultural system. This study employed a RandomizedBlock Design (RBD) containing six different treatments such as five varying recommendation dosagesof zeolite (0.5, 1, 1.5, 2, and 2.5) and one control treatment devoid of zeolite for comparative analysis. Each treatment was reproduced three times, yielding a total of eighteen experimental plots. Soilchemical parameters (pH and CEC) are the primary focus of this experiment. The study's resultsindicated that during the last weeks of testing, applying 1.5 to 2 doses of zeolite proved to be the mostbeneficial, as it continuously raised the pH and CEC levels. Both Pearson and Spearman tests indicatethat the correlation between variables improves from first week to week fourth week. This suggeststhat the effects of the treatment, possibly zeolite application or an alternative treatment, start afterseveral weeks. The results of this investigation indicate that incubation time in zeolite applicationimportant for exhibits effective buffering properties and functions efficiently, significantly improvingthe chemical properties in soil.

Abstract

Modern agriculture largely depends on NPK fertilization however, the neglect of secondary nutrients, particularly magnesium (Mg) and sulfur (S), has increasingly led to nutrient imbalances andreduced fertilizer efficiency. Magnesium plays a crucial role in photosynthesis, energy transfer, andenzyme activation, and its deficiency often referred to as the “forgotten element” has become moreprevalent in intensive cropping systems and leached mineral soils. This study aimed to evaluate therole of magnesium–sulfur (Mg–S) fertilizer derived from kieserite in enhancing the growth and yieldof sweet corn (Zea mays saccharata L.) cultivated on Inceptisol soil. This study used a RandomizedBlock Design (RBD) with seven different combination treatments between kieserite (½; ¾; 1; 1 ½ andNPK (¾ and 1) recommended dosages, one treatment recommendation dose of local farmer and onetreatment without fertilizer for comparison. Each treatment was replicated three times, resulting in atotal of twenty-seven experimental plots. Soil chemistry parameters as a main object of thisexperiment. The results of this study showed that the application of kieserite inorganic fertilizersignificantly improved N, P, K, and Mg concentrations in plant tissue, increased total soil Mg content, and enhanced yield components of sweet corn compared to the control and standard NPK treatments. The combined application of one dose of kieserite (300 kg ha⁻¹) and the recommended NPK rate (350–100–50 kg ha⁻¹) produced the highest yield, reaching 14.24 t ha⁻¹, indicating that balanced Mg–Ssupplementation is essential for optimizing nutrient efficiency and maximizing sweet cornproductivity on Inceptisol soils.
