Abstract

The aim of this research is to find out the potential time of labor of corn farmers used for productive activities by corn farmers. Examine the factors that influence the allocation of farmer working time to corn farming. This research is quantitative research. The data source in this study is secondary data in the form of primary data from the distribution of questionnaires to corn farmers. The data analysis technique used is multiple regression analysis. The results of this study indicate that the potential time of labor in the family on productive activities in the agricultural sector is more dominated by male labor, which is an average of 617.35 HKSP, the results of the parsial test found that the variable land area, wage level and education significantly influence the allocation farmer working time on corn farming. While for skills, type of workforce and land management/technology systems have no significant effect.

Abstract

Pests and diseases of maize plants have the potential to cause crop failure. Lack of information and knowledge about plant pests and diseases and limited field extension workers lead to errors in diagnosing maize pests and diseases. This results in inappropriate crop management that decreases production. Therefore, farmers need a tool to detect pest and disease attacks through physical symptoms seen on plants in the field. This research aims to produce an Agricultural Information System, namely an android-based expert system to detect pests and diseases in corn plants. The method used is software with prototyping to get an overview of the application to be built through a prototype application design and then evaluated by the user. The research stages include; gathering needs, building prototypes, evaluating protoype, coding the system, testing the system, evaluating the system, and using the system.  The result is the symptoms of pest and disease attacks on corn plants in the field, can be detected through the form of symptoms that are matched with images and characteristics of symptoms displayed on the Agricultural Information System software installed on android-based mobile phones or Tablets. Test results from 28 respondents showed that the success rate of detection of pest symptoms on corn plants was 75%, and for disease symptoms was 90%.

Abstract

This research was conducted in Wanggarasi Sub-district, Pohuwato Regency, Gorontalo Province, specifically in Bohusami Village and Bukit Harapan Village. The objectives of this study were (1). To analyze the biophysical land conditions (land capability, land suitability, land carrying capacity, production), as well as the social conditions of the community, particularly population pressure, which can support a sustainable maize land-use system. (2). To develop an appropriate model for optimizing sustainable maize cultivation in Wanggarasi Sub-district, Pohuwato Regency, Gorontalo Province. The method used was land evaluation with a land unit approach. Sampling locations were determined using stratified random sampling, considering land units at the study sites—namely, slope, landform, and land use. The preparation of land capability maps, land suitability maps, and land optimization maps was carried out through interpretation of RBI maps, administrative maps, land unit maps, and LCLP analysis results. Meanwhile, maps of land carrying capacity, population pressure, and production were developed based on RBI maps, administrative maps, and secondary data. Data analysis was conducted using ecological spatial analysis with Geographic Information System (GIS) and supporting socio-economic data were analyzed descriptively. The research results showed that the study area is dominated by land with low optimization categories (R), expressed through the functional formula: OPT (R) = f (KL (III, IV) + KS (S3, N1) + DDL(R) + P(R) + TP(R)). The models and strategies for optimizing land in the low category (R) can be implemented through: (1) Identifying land units combining dry fields and rainfed areas that ensure the availability of land with high (T) or moderate (S) optimization categories, with a minimum area approximately equal to that of land units categorized as moderate or low in the sub-district. (2) Identifying land-use combinations that can yield production categorized as high (T) or moderate (S) land optimization by converting part of the coconut plantation area—particularly those needing replanting—into dryland maize cultivation. Additionally, seeking land-use combinations that ensure the availability of land areas with moderate optimization category (S), such as mixed gardens and dry fields.

Abstract

Sawdust waste is a by-product of various wood industry activities in Gorontalo. The problem of sawdust waste often causes rotting which produces methane gas and is one of the greenhouse gases that causes global warming. Tunggulo Village has the potential as a food barn, horticulture, and secondary crops, and has rice production that is recognized as having good quality. This activity aims to socialize the importance of processing sawdust waste into organic fertilizer and its benefits for the environment and applying it to vegetable plants. The implementation method with several stages, namely socialization activities, implementation of technical training and assistance, application of sawdust fertilizer utilization on plants, monitoring and evaluation. The results of this community service began with an initial survey which showed that several respondents still viewed sawdust as useless waste. This reflects that public perception of the potential for productive use of sawdust is still low. Training and technical guidance in Tunggulo Village may not have any local examples or practices regarding the use of sawdust as organic fertilizer. Training activities begin with an introduction to the process of processing sawdust into organic fertilizer, which is then directed to utilize agricultural waste as an effort to maintain and improve the quality of agricultural land

Abstract

The fertilizer availability as source of N, P, and K nutrient where plant responsif  was difficult found by farmer. Thefore, It was needed information about nutrient availability in soil properties to know nutrient deficiency of its by maize as plant indicator. The  objective of this research was to study the respons of  N, P, and K fertilizers and the best combination of it on the growth and yield of Maize. The research conducted at Udic Pellusterts in North Isimu Tibawa District of Gorontalo Regency. The experi- mental design was following random block design that consist of 5 treatments with 3 replications. The result of this research showing that minus N, P, and K fertilizers have a significantly effect on plant age polination, the percentage of height stem of  an ear of corn to plant height and dry straw weight but did not have significantly effect on plant height and the weigh of one hundred grain of Maize. To improve the growth and yield of Maize using fertilizing without P treatment were 250 kg Urea ha-1 and 75 kg KCl ha-1 or completely dosage were 250 kg Urea ha-1, 100 kg TSP ha-1 and 75 kg KCl ha-1 as the best fertilizers combination.

Abstract

Unsur hara NPK merupakan unsur hara makro primer, yakni unsur hara yang dibutuhkan tanaman dalam jumlah banyak selama siklus hidupnya. Kadar dari setiap unsur hara di dalam tanah dapat berubah akibat pengelolaan yang berbeda. Produksi tanaman padi dan jagung pada tahun 2021 sampai tahun 2022 yang dihasilkan terjadi penurunan yang signifikan. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui kadar hara makro (N, P, K), C-organik pada lahan sawah dan tegalan di Desa Dutohe Kecamatan Kabila. Penelitian dilaksanakan bulan April hingga bulan Juni 2024 di Desa Dutohe Kecamatan Kabila. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode survei Lapangan dan analisis laboratorium. Penentuan titik sampel dilakukan pada lahan sawah dan tegalan. Masing-masing lahan dilakukan pengambilan sampel secara diagonal lalu dikomposit untuk selanjutnya dianalisis di laboratorium. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan Nitrogen (N) pada lahan sawah sedang, lahan tegalan rendah kadar Fosfor (P) pada lahan sawah dan tegalan rendah, kadar Kalium (K) pada lahan sawah dan tegalan sangat rendah, kandungan C-Organik pada lahan sawah sedang, lahan tegalan rendah. Terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan antara lahan sawah dan lahan tegalan dalam hal kadar hara makro dan C-Organik. Pada lahan sawah cenderung memiliki kadar nitrogen dan C-Organik yang lebih tinggi dibandingkan lahan tegalan, sementara kadar fosfor dan kalium di kedua jenis lahan tergolong rendah hingga sangat rendah.    Kata Kunci: Hara Makro,C-Organik, Sawah, Tegalan

Abstract

Sampah organik dapat dimanfaatkan menjadi bahan pupuk organik merupakan langkah penting dalam mendukung gaya hidup sehat yang berkelanjutan bagi masyarakat. Pupuk organik sangat berguna untuk meningkatkan kesuburan tanah. Pupuk ini mengandung nutrisi berupa zat hara yang diperlukan oleh tanaman, seperti nitrogen (N), fosfor (P), dan kalium (K). Desa Botutonuo merupakan kawasan wisata pantai dan juga memiliki lahan pertanian dengan berbagai komoditas perkebunan maupun hortikultura. Program MBKN terintegrasi KKN merupakan salah satu upaya atau sarana dalam meningkatkan potensi sumber daya yang ada di desa dengan tujuan mendorong mahasiswa untuk menguasai bidang pertanian yang berguna bagi masyarakat dan pemuda tani desa serta mengembangkan kreatifitas mahasiswa dalam budidaya sayuran organik dengan inovasi teknologi sederhana. Menggunakan pupuk organik lebih aman bagi lingkungan, karena tidak mengandung bahan kimia berbahaya yang dapat merusak kualitas tanah. Selain itu, mengomposkan sampah dapur seperti limbah ikan menjadi pupuk organik juga membantu mengurangi pencemaran lingkungan. Kegiatan program MBKM terintegrasi KKN telah memberikan solusi yang nyata bagi masyarakat sekitarnya dalam memanfaatkan sampah organik. Metode kegiatan dilaksanakan dalam bentuk pelatihan, berupa pembuatan pupuk organik cair dari bahan limbah ikan dan aplikasinya pada tanaman sayur pakcoy. Hasil kegiatan berupa POC limbah ikan, dan tanaman pakcoy yang tumbuh subur dan aman dikonsumsi.

Abstract

The objectives of this community service activity are 1) encouraging students and young farmers to master agricultural technology, 2) developing students' creativity in organic vegetable cultivation with hydroponic technology innovation, 3) utilizing organic waste such as animal manure, crop residues in the form of rice straw, sawdust  , husk charcoal, as a medium for organic fertilizer, 4) providing direct practice on how to make simple hydroponics, the importance of maintaining soil fertility for plants, and entrepreneurship.  Methods in the forming of direct application practice regarding making organic fertilizers, cultivating vegetables, and techniques for making simple hydroponics.  The locations of the activities are in the villages of Tunggulo, Tungulo Selatan, and Bongoime, Tilong Kabila District, Bone Bolango Regency, Gorontalo Province.  This activity was attended by 34 students' participants from the Department of Agrotechnology and other departments at State University of Gorontalo and collaborated with young farmers, held for 40 days from September 8 to October 10, 2020. The results of the activity showed that community service activities in partner villages were carried out running well and according to the planned program.  Students and young farmers have succeeded in developing hydroponic manufacturing techniques with vegetable commodities and organic growing media that use compost of manure and husk charcoal

Abstract

The purpose of the service is to find out how to make organic fertilizer using rice husk raw materials and how to apply it to vegetable plants. The method used in this service is by holding counseling about the benefits of organic fertilizer, training in making rice husk organic fertilizer with an EM4 simulator, application of organic fertilizer as an organic planting medium in polybags, and program evaluation. The result of the dedication is in the form of transfer of research results on the technology for making organic fertilizer with an EM4 simulator, in this case the utilization of rice husk organic matter which is transferred from lecturers as researchers to farmers in the form of counseling and demonstrations. Partners take an active role in this service, especially in technical implementation in the field. The service program that was carried out was accepted by the farmers. Farmers are very optimistic that they can apply what they get in this service activity in the field, because this technology is very easy to apply. Fermented rice husk organic fertilizer is directly applied to several types of vegetable plants that have previously been planted in nurseries. Some vegetable plants grown in polybags are celery, chilies, tomatoes, kale, spinach and mustard greens. Plant growth in polybags that use organic growing media is quite good because of the improvement in soil properties played by the organic fertilizers given. Improvements in soil properties include improvements in physical, chemical and biological properties.

Abstract

Tujuan pengabdian adalah terciptanya pertanian berkelanjutan melalui penurunan tingkat bahaya erosi dengan penerapan tindakan konservasi guludan.  Metode yang digunakan pada pengabdian ini yakni dengan mengadakan pelatihan pembuatan bandul segitiga dan guludan pada warga masyarakat sasaran.. Hasil pengabdian berupa transfer teknologi konservasi, dalam hal ini adalah teknologi pembuatan bandul segitiga untuk penetapan garis kontur dalam pembuatan guludan, ditransfer dari dosen kepada petani sebagai mitra dalam bentuk pelatihan dan pembuatan guludan secara langsung di lahan milik petani.   Mitra ikut berperan aktif dalam pengabdian ini, khususnya dalam teknis pelaksanaan di lapangan.  Program pengabdian yang dilakukan diterima baik oleh petani.  Petani sangat optimis dapat menerapkan apa yang diperoleh dalam kegiatan pengabdian ini, karena teknologi ini sangat mudah diterapkan.  Bahan-bahan yang digunakan untuk pembuatan bandul segitiga sangat mudah diperoleh di lokasi pengabdian.  Setelah pembuatan bandul segitiga selesai, langsung digunakan di lapangan sebelum dilakukan pembuatan guludan pada pertanaman milik petani.  Pembuatan guludan dilakukan berdasarkan garis kontur yang sudah ditentukan sebelumnya menggunakan bandul segitigal.  Pembuatan guludan dilakukan oleh petani dan mahasiswa dengan bimbingan dosen pelaksana kegiatan pengabdian
