Abstract

This study aimed to analyse the interpersonal strategies in appraisal system particularly in attitude used by interrogator and suspects during police interrogations in Indonesia. This research employed a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data consisted of interrogation exchanges between interrogator and five theft suspects, collected through recording, observation, and note-taking techniques. Data analysis was conducted using appraisal theory within a Systemic Functional Linguistics (SFL) framework, focusing on the attitude categories (affect, assessment, and appreciation). The results indicate that the affect (feeling) category was the most dominant, primarily used by suspects to express their emotional states. Meanwhile, interrogator predominantly used appraisal (assessment) to shape the suspects' behaviour. These findings suggest a strong power relationship in the interrogation interaction, with interrogator acting as the controlling and enabling party, while the suspects were emotionally distressed. Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis strategi interpersonal dalam sistem penilaian, khususnya sikap yang digunakan oleh penyidik dan tersangka selama interogasi polisi di Indonesia. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan desain studi kasus. Data terdiri dari pertukaran interogasi antara penyidik dan lima tersangka pencurian, yang dikumpulkan melalui teknik perekaman, observasi, dan pencatatan. Analisis data dilakukan menggunakan teori penilaian dalam kerangka Linguistik Fungsional Sistemik (SFL), dengan fokus pada kategori sikap (afek, penilaian, dan apresiasi). Hasil menunjukkan bahwa kategori afek (perasaan) adalah yang paling dominan, terutama digunakan oleh tersangka untuk mengekspresikan keadaan emosional mereka. Sementara itu, penyidik sebagian besar menggunakan penilaian (assessment) untuk membentuk perilaku tersangka. Temuan ini menunjukkan hubungan kekuasaan yang kuat dalam interaksi interogasi, dengan penyidik bertindak sebagai pihak pengendali dan pendukung, sementara tersangka mengalami tekanan emosional.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of using flash card media on students’ reading ability in the Indonesian language subject, specifically on verb material, in Grade II at SD Muhammadiyah 13 Medan. This study employed a descriptive quantitative research design. The sample in this study consisted of Grade II A students as the experimental class totaling 21 students and Grade II B students as the control class totaling 16 students. Data collection techniques were conducted through tests and observation sheets. The population of this study included all Grade II students at SD Muhammadiyah 13 Medan. Meanwhile, the data analysis technique used was the t-test.The results of the study showed that the reading ability of Grade II students in the control class improved from a pre-test score of 38.5 to 71.4 in the post-test. The reading ability of students in the experimental class experienced a significant improvement after the implementation of flash card media, from an average pre-test score of 49.3 to 78.75 in the post-test. This indicates that flash card media are effective in improving students’ reading ability.Based on data analysis using the t-test and the hypothesis testing results, the obtained significance value (sig. 2-tailed) was 0.004. Therefore, the significance value of 0.004 < 0.05 indicates a significant difference, meaning that the working hypothesis (Ha) in this study was accepted. Thus, it can be concluded that there is an effect of the use of flash card media on the reading ability of Grade II students at SD Muhammadiyah 13 Medan.

p Employee performance has a significant impact on both individual achievement and the overall success of the organization Motivation is closely related to goal directed behavior Employees who consistently perform routine tasks may experience boredom eventually leading to decreased productivity and performance At UPT RSUD Bangun Purba issues such as uneven workload distribution and a lack of initiative among employees have been observed Additionally varying levels of employee understanding often lead to miscommunication regarding assigned tasks This study aims to determine the influence of work motivation on employee performance at UPT RSUD Bangun Purba This quantitative research was conducted at UPT RSUD Bangun Purba The population consists of all employees with a total sample of 30 using total sampling The study uses both primary and secondary data sourced internally and externally Data were collected through observation and questionnaires and analyzed using validity and reliability tests simple linear regression partial tests and the coefficient of determination with the help of SPSS version 22 The results show that female respondents outnumber male respondents most are aged 30 41 years and the majority hold a bachelors degree The analysis meets normality assumptions and shows no heteroscedasticity The hypothesis test shows that work motivation has a positive and significant effect on employee performance with a t value of 4 226 gt; 2 05183 and significance of 0 000 p lt; 0 05 The coefficient of determination test shows an R Square value of 48 9 Persen meaning that work motivation accounts for 48 9 Persen of performance outcomes while the remaining 51 1 Persen is influenced by other undetected factors p
