Abstract

This study investigated the stereotypes of female online motorcycle taxi drivers, who pinned the stereotype of female online motorcycle taxi drivers, and why the stereotype of female online motorcycle taxi drivers in Surakarta emerged. This study used a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach. Sources of data used were primary data sources and secondary data sources—the data collected by interviews and observations. The informant retrieval technique used was snowball sampling and purposive sampling. This study indicated that (1) The stereotype of online motorcycle taxi drivers arises from a sub-culture in a society where men are closely related to masculine characteristics while women are feminine. So, working as a driver in a society closely related to masculine people creates stereotypes for women. (2) In the process, the stereotype of female online motorcycle taxi drivers appeared in most of the people who interacted with them, such as customers, fellow online motorcycle taxi drivers, and their families. (3) The reason for the emergence of a stereotype among female motorcycle taxi drivers is that women's driving proficiency is not the same as men's. In general, women who drive on a man are considered less common in some societies. Especially if the female drivers still receive orders at night, some community members and fellow male drivers consider it to be precarious and endangering to women. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana stereotip driver ojek online perempuan, siapa yang menyematkan stereotip driver ojek online perempuan dan mengapa stereotip driver ojek online perempuan di Kota Surakarta muncul. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan fenomenologi. Sumber data yang digunakan adalah sumber data primer dan sumber data sekunder. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa (1) Stereotip pada driver ojek online muncul dari adanya sub budaya dalam masyarakat bahwa laki-laki erat dengan sifat maskulin sedangkan perempuan dengan sifat feminim. Sehingga, ranah pekerjaan sebagai driver yang di masyarakat erat dengan kaum maskulin membuat munculnya stereotip pada perempuan. (2) Dalam prosesnya stereotip terhadap driver ojek online perempuan muncul pada sebagian besar orang yang berinteraksi dengannya seperti customer, rekan sesama driver ojek online dan keluarga. (3) Alasan munculnya sebuah stereotip pada driver ojek perempuan berkaitan dengan kemahiran dalam mengemudi perempuan tidak sama dengan kaum laki-laki. Secara umum perempuan yang memboncengkan seorang laki-laki dianggap kurang lazim bagi sebagian masyarakat.Terlebih jika di malam haridriver perempuan yang masih gadis masih menerima orderan hal tersebut dianggap oleh sebagian masyarakat maupun dari teman sesama driver laki-laki sangat beresiko dan membahayakan diri perempuan.

Abstract

Shoes may not be just as essential as footwear. The meaning of shoes now cannot be seen from the needs alone; the purpose becomes integrated either as a basic need or a lifestyle that is even used as an identity. The existence of the production of KW shoes proves that using a particular brand is considered to be able to support one's appearance. Identity is more formed because it is created by representing how a person wants to be seen and the implied message he wants to convey from what he wears. This identity becomes vulnerable to changes, such as domination and minority, which causes the essence to change. Like someone who uses KW sneakers, they will be embarrassed if the original user catches them. This makes KW users belittled. The impact on the formation of a political identity where the sense of owning genuine sneakers will be able to elevate one's status that one will be considered excellent and well-off. But on the other hand, the users of KW shoes feel they have the same sense of belonging as the original users by making replicas of the actual shoes and want to be considered like the original shoe users.

Abstract

The New Order government encouraged ethnic Chinese Indonesians as the local population, resulting new identity as Chinese Muslims, then the group formed PITI. This research is analyzing the forming of Chinese Muslim socio-cultural identity among PITI from the perspective of Tajfel and Turner's social identity theory. The descriptive qualitative research method used in this research, and the data obtained from semi-structured in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation and/or literature studies. The results showed that Chinese Muslims tried to maintain and gain a positive social identity. It can be seen from individual and collective efforts to form different socio-cultural identities, some Muslim Chinese identify Chinese socio-cultural, some identify Javanese socio-cultural.

Abstract

Technology is currently experiencing very rapid development, one of which is smart phones. One of the impacts resulting from these technological developments is the phenomenon of phubbing, where people are too focused on their respective smartphones when socializing. This article aims to find out what phubbing means for phubbers when socializing. This study uses a qualitative method by providing an overview in the form of a description of the phenomenon of phubbing. Data were obtained through observation and in-depth interviews with 12 informants from each faculty at Sebelas Maret University as well as secondary data from existing literature. Then analyzed using the concept of multitasking generation. The results of the study show that with the widespread use of smartphones in various groups ranging from children to adults, phubbing is considered a normal phenomenon even though sometimes there are parties who feel offended by phubbing, especially for victims of phubbing. They feel unappreciated when interacting with their interlocutors due to being too focused on their respective smartphones.

Abstract

Wedding events which are usually lively, attended by many people, and full of a series of cultural activities must change according to conditions and rules of Covid-19.  A cultural crisis also occurred during the pandemic where people had difficulty even being able to carry out various cultural activities because they were limited by social restrictions and health protocols.  As felt by the people in the village of Celep (Kedawung district, Sragen city). The purpose of this study was to find out how changes in the procedures for carrying out marriages in the Celep community caused a cultural crisis during the Covid-19 Pandemic and to find out how the Celep community's strategy was to anticipate marriage during the Covid-19 Pandemic which caused a cultural crisis.  The research method used is qualitative with a case study approach.  Data obtained through interviews, observation, and documentation.  The results of the study found that there was a cultural crisis during the Covid-19 pandemic, especially in terms of procedures for carrying out marriages in Celep.  In the past, before the pandemic, village communities carried out wedding procedures with the complete Javanese traditional traditions, but during the pandemic, it changed according to conditions and regulations.  Many people in Celep also choose the concept of a fast, simple, and concise marriage so as not to violate existing rules.  The results of the data were analyzed using the structure theory of Anthony Giddens.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memahami dan menjelaskan strategi yang dijalankan oleh pedagang burjo di seputar kampus Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta dalam memperoleh, mempertahankan, dan mengakumulasi modal sosial yang menunjang berputarnya roda usaha mereka. Metode kualitatif digunakan untuk mengumpulkan dan menganalisis data. Data primer diperoleh melalui wawancara mendalam dengan 30 orang partisipan yang terdiri dari pedagang (20 orang), pemasok bahan baku (5 orang), dan pemilik modal (5 orang). Ketiga pihak dipilih sebagai partisipan penelitian karena keterlibatannya secara langsung di dalam bisnis ini dan karena kaitan yang terjalin di antara mereka. Kesimpulan yang diperoleh dari penelitian ini adalah pedagang burjo menjalankan dua jenis strategi dalam kaitan dengan modal sosial.  (1) Strategi internal yang dijalankan adalah membangun hubungan yang menyerupai keluarga, membangun ikatan kepercayaan dengan semua karyawan, saling memberikan bantuan berupa meminjamkan tenaga karyawan, memberikan bahan baku makanan, bertukar menukar informasi seputar perdagangan, berbagi resep menu makanan dan berbagi antar karyawan. (2) Strategi eksternal yang ditempuh adalah memilih agen untuk dijadikan langganan, mengalah terhadap masyarakat setempat, membersihkan lingkungan usaha, menjaga kualitas masakan, harga murah,  pelayanan yang cepat dan ramah,  membayar uang parkir keamanan, memberikan bantuan terhadap masyarakat sekitar, melayat, menjaga nilai kejujuran, keramahan, keakraban dengan pelanggan, memberi hutang pada pembeli, menaruh kepercayaan terhadap pembeli dan ikut memberikan sumbangan terhadap pegawai burjo lain ketika ada yang meninggal.This research aims at understanding and explaining strategies that green bean porridge (burjo) vendors around the area of Universitas Sebelas Maret campus develop in gathering, maintaining, and accumulating social capitals for the improvement of their businesses’ performance. Qualitative method was used for the data collection and analysis. Primary data was collected through in-depth intervews with 30 research participants, consisting of 20 vendors, 5 suppliers, and 5 investors. These participants were selected due their direct involvement in this business and their close interrelation. This research results in two main conclusions concerning the way burjo vendors manage the social capital. (1) Internally, they build family-like relation, develop trust among employee, and practice mutual help, e.g. lending food materials, sharing business-reated informations as well as recipes. (2) Externally, they develop trust with preferred suppliers, be kind always available for helping the local inhabitants, manage a clean business location, keep the food quality,  give better price, provide a quick and friendly service, regularly pay the parking tribute, go to funeral, allow costumers to pay later, and donate certain amount of cash for bereavement.

Abstract

Dolalak dance is a folk dance whose movements and costumes adopted the Dutch soldiers war training and dancing movements and costumes. The exsistention of the traditional art become degradation in a year. Dolalak dance is also influenced by the cultural change from modernity, and then the meaning of Dolalak will be gone.This enable people interprete the ideal value of Dolalak dance in daily life that different from Dolalak dance in the past that was full of life regulation values.This qualitative research uses a case study method to answer the different interprete the meaning of Dolalak dance.It uses interview, observation and documentation techniques to collect data. Theory in thisresearch using interpretative culture from Clifford Geertz.This research reveals that Dolalak experienced a cultural creativity by combining with other arts, i.e dangdut and Campursari.It also experienced changes in players, movements, makeup, costumes, and time performanes. As a folk dance play a role in unity and guide the social life. Dolalak dance is interpreted as a religious symbols, varlour, faith and social conditions. Nowdays, it has a new interpretation as a equality, effectivity, efficiency and specialization lead to individualization in the group.

Abstract

This research aims at analyzing changes on the welfare level and consumption patterns among Jenitri (Elaeocarpus ganitrus) farmers in Pujotirto, Karangsambung, Kebumen regency of Centra Java- Indonesia. Using mix-method, this research combined quantitative method and that of qualitative. Quantitative data was collected by a survey involving 20 respondents which were selected purposively. Qualitative data was collected by a series of in-depth interviews with farmers and traders of jenitri. Quantitative data was analyzed descriptively. Interview data was transcripted and analyzed by using domain analysis technique. The research resulted in following conclusions: (1) the cultivation of jenitri has brought about significant changes in farmers’  welfare; (2) the raised welfare level affects the pattern of household’s consumption; (3) prior to cultivating jenitri, farmers’ household tend to be subsistence-oriented; (4) now that they cultivate jenitri, they are driven to meet secondary and tertiary needs, such as motorcycles and jewelries.

Abstract

Batik, with a unique style, reflectsthe prosperityofIndonesian culture. UNESCO officially designated batik as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. One of the batiksin Indonesia is original hand-written batik.Batik Gunawan Setiawan is a local batik company remainsproducing traditional hand-written batik. Hand-made batikfaced few problems includingless competitive with printingbatik, scarce raw materials, and the lack of batik artist regeneration. Thisresearch aims to describe Gunawan Setiawan's Batik strategyfor maintainingsustainable written batikbusiness. This study uses structural functionaltheorydeveloped by Talcott Parsons. This is a qualitativestudy supported bya case study approach. The data were collected through in-depth interview, observation, and documentation. Data validity was tested with source triangulation. Afteranalyzing datawith data reduction, presentation, and conclusion, fact-findings indicate that to preserve written batikthe current strategycovers batik training program, writtenbatik fashioninnovation, batik-linked socialevents, direct selling promotion, mixed social media branding, joint Kauman batik tourism village,and regular Kauman batik exhibitionin Solo Batik Museum.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pembelajaran daring dan self efficacy terhadap stres akademik mahasiswa Fakultas Keguruan dan Ilmu Pendidikan Universitas Sebelas Maret Surakarta angkatan 2018. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif. Sampel pada penelitian ini sebanyak 95 mahasiswa dari 12 program studi terpilih menggunakan teknik probability sampling. Teknik pengumpulan data pada penelitian ini menggunakan kuesioner. Teknik analisis data pada penelitian ini menggunakan uji Korelasi Product Moment dan uji Analisis Regresi Berganda. Berdasarkan uji Korelasi Product Moment diperoleh hasil korelasi positif antara pembelajaran daring dan stres akademik dengan nilai korelasi 0,220 (rhitung) > 0,202 (rtabel). Sedangkan untuk self efficacy dan stres akademik diperoleh korelasi negatif dengan nilai korelasi -0,132 (rhitung) < 0,202 (rtabel). Kemudian pada uji Analisis Regresi Berganda memperoleh hasil (fhitung) 3,147 > 3,10 (ftabel). Dari hasil tersebut, maka hipotesis penelitian ini adalah H1 diterima dan H0 ditolak. Maka dapat ditarik kesimpulan bahwa terdapat pengaruh antara pembelajaran daring dan self efficacy terhadap stres akademik mahasiswa Fakultas Keguruan dan Ilmu Pendidikan Universitas Sebelas Maret angkatan 2018.
