Abstract

Abstract

The Tapung–Tandun road is a provincial highway that links Tapung District and Tandun region. This road falls under the classification of a third-class collector road, spanning 45.5 kilometers in length and featuring a 7-meter-wide carriageway. As transportation demands continue to rise on the Tapung–Tandun road, the increased vehicular traffic has not been met with commensurate infrastructure, leading to substantial surface damage. The objectives of this study were to determine the types of damage present on the flexible pavement of the Tapung–Tandun road, to evaluate the extent of road damage using the Bina Marga method, and to ascertain the average daily traffic flow along the Tapung–Tandun road. The method employed to analyze road damage on the Tapung–Tandun road was the Bina Marga method. The results of the road damage survey on this road in Kampar Regency revealed various types of damage, including cracks, potholes, aggregate loss, and rutting. The analysis of road damage using the Bina Marga method yielded the following percentages of damage: 3.748% for cracking from STA 0+000 to STA 5+000, 4.573% for potholes from STA 0+000 to STA 5+000, 5.848% for aggregate loss from STA 0+000 to STA 5+000, and 2.537% for rutting from STA 0+000 to STA 5+000. The analysis using the Bina Marga method determined a road maintenance program level of 3, indicating that the Tapung–Tandun road fell under the category of road improvement programs. The survey results for the average daily traffic (ADT) volume indicated a total of 5,113 PCU/day. Among various vehicle types, sedans, jeeps, and station wagons were the most prevalent on the Tapung–Tandun road, with a total of 2,029 PCU/day, while trucks with 4 axles (1.2-2.2) or trailers were the least common, with 27 PCU/day.

Abstract

Literature serves as a reflective medium that captures and articulates the intricacies of social reality, providing a profound portrayal of real-life phenomena. It functions as a vital record, encapsulating the observations and perceptions of individuals in their lived experiences. In essence, literature is an eloquent description of life itself. This study specifically delves into the exploration of personalities within the context of the play "The Glass Menagerie" by Tennessee Williams, elucidating the significance of the characters' actions. To achieve a nuanced understanding, this research adopts personality theories to delineate the distinctive traits of the main characters and draws upon psychological and motivational theories to discern the underlying meanings of their actions. Employing a qualitative descriptive method with content analysis, the study aims to fulfill its research objectives, namely, providing detailed characterizations of Amanda, Tom, and Laura Wingfield, and unraveling the meanings and implied messages conveyed through their actions. The analytical process involves the systematic collection, scrutiny, and interpretation of data, culminating in well-grounded conclusions. The findings of this research shed light on various personalities, actions, and the implicit messages embedded in the conduct of the main characters, namely Laura, Tom, and Amanda Wingfield. Notably, the study identifies Laura as a character predominantly influenced by her Id, while Tom and Amanda are portrayed as personalities shaped by their Egos. The outcomes of this investigation contribute valuable insights that can inform the implementation of drama-based learning. By engaging with and appreciating literary works, students stand to enhance not only their language proficiency but also cultivate a sense of comfort and familiarity with the nuanced complexities of human behavior and interpersonal dynamics.

Abstract

This article seeks to reevaluate the concept and distribution of social assistance as a means to achieve distributive justice. Utilising the Tafsīr Maqāṣidī approach — an interpretation that reflects God's intentions—this study reconstructs the principles and methods of distributing social assistance to effectively realise distributive justice. The primary focus is on Qur'an Surah Al-Hashr [59]:7, which delineates the guidelines for distributing wealth collected by the government, referred to as al-Fai’. The findings indicate that the distribution of al-Fai’ in the form of social assistance is designed to prevent the concentration of wealth among affluent groups, ensuring that resources are shared with the poor and marginalised (ḍu‘afā’), thereby mitigating societal inequality. From the perspective of Maqāṣid al-Sharī‘ah, the provision of social assistance aims to safeguard religion (ḥifẓ al-dīn), life (ḥifẓ al-nafs), and the state (ḥifẓ al-Dawlah). Furthermore, social assistance embodies principles of justice (al-‘adālah), humanity (al-Insāniyyah), equality (al-Musāwāh), freedom (al-ḥurriyah), and responsibility (al-Mas’ūliyyah). Consequently, it is deemed unacceptable for the distribution of social assistance to be exploited for personal gain or to secure public office. Additionally, applying the Tafsīr Maqāṣidī approach in this context demonstrates how the maqāṣidī -based normative framework can evaluate the ethical soundness of government-initiated programs like social assistance. This research contributes to developing public policy by using the tafsir approach, in this study using Tafsīr Maqāṣidī.

Abstract

This study crafts a machine learning framework that systematically integrates multi-hazard disaster risk assessments into automated property valuation for the Jakarta Metropolitan Area. The framework addresses 25–30% MAPE typically observed in disaster-prone regions, providing more reliable valuation results. We made 114 prediction features from 42 input variables by using 14,284 property data from Indonesian markets, physical risk data from the Think Hazard platform, and socio-economic data from Central Bureau of Statistics. Elastic Net model performed superior compared to other models which had R² = 0.7922 and a MAPE of 28.27%. We found that some disaster risks had unexpected beneficial effects on property prices. We expected that risks related to the earth (+40.5%) and water (+19.2%) would have positive effects, while risks related to the weather (-66.9%) would have negative effects. These conflicting results suggest that in complex urban markets, the quality of infrastructure, location premiums, and differences in risk perception may outweigh simple risk penalties. The idea gives realistic ideas for property valuation that takes risks into account, but it also points out big problems with how the market judges how likely a disaster is to happen.
