Abstract

PT XYZ is a manufacturing company that produces fabricated components and machines for various heavy construction industries, but the well-known product is train components. PT XYZ has agreed to export train components to many countries so that PT XYZ has a large production target. Workers must work on requests for goods according to a predetermined date, which can cause fatigue. Based on these problems, this research was conducted to determine the value of the physical and mental workload of shift 1 and shift 2 PT XYZ workers and provide suggestions for improvement. Cardiovascular Load (CVL) and Bourdon Wiersma methods are used to identify the worker's workload. Based on the research results, it is known that the workload of shift 2 workers is heavier than shift 1 workers. This problem can be influenced by working hours at night which are less optimal for work. Improvements suggested to overcome this include increasing rest time, setting up a shift system or rolling shifts, and improving the workplace.

Abstract

PT XYZ is an industrial company that produces tools. In this research, the problem that must be resolved, namely the issue of raw material inventory control that occurs at PT XYZ, will be resolved using the Economic Order Quantity (EOQ) method using POM-QM software. By using the Economic Order Quantity (EOQ) method, it is hoped that it can solve the raw material inventory control problems that occur at PT XYZ so that the costs incurred by the company are optimal. So, PT XYZ can solve the problem of controlling raw material inventory with the help of the POM-QM application to facilitate the calculation process. Based on the analysis and data processing that has been carried out, it is known that the optimal quantity of raw material A output per order is 150 units with a total cost of IDR 270,596,000 and a reorder point value of 7 units. For raw material B, the optimal quantity per order is 241 units with a total cost of IDR 2,439,490,000 and a reorder point value of 53 units. For raw material C, the optimal quantity per order is 94 units with a total cost of IDR 425,200,400 and a reorder point value of 7 units. For raw material D, the optimal quantity per order is 82 units with a total cost of IDR 217,229,600 and a reorder point value of 5 units. So the raw material that has the most influence in the tool making process at PT XYZ is B because it has the largest reorder point value.

Abstract

Project management is a critical element in ensuring the smooth execution of tasks within the planned timeframe, budget and quality. In the maritime industry, one of the major challenges is to manage the complexity of production phases that involve numerous activities and dependencies. This study aims to analyse and optimise the duration of the electrical and electronic outfitting phase in the Type B ship project at PT. XYZ using the Critical Path Method (CPM) supported by the POM-QM for Windows software. The results show that the application of CPM successfully identified the critical activity path, namely A-B-D-F-H, and reduced the project duration from 128 days to 89 days, achieving a time efficiency of 39 days. This optimisation significantly reduces the potential for operational cost overruns without compromising the quality of the work. This study highlights the importance of data-driven project planning to minimise delays and improve resource efficiency. As a recommendation, CPM and supporting tools such as POM-QM can be more widely implemented on similar projects in the maritime industry to improve productivity and overall project sustainability.

Abstract

A company's warehousing has a significant impact on the smooth flow of materials, both in storage and in distribution. An effective warehousing system ensures that materials are available on time and in the required condition. The implementation of lean manufacturing in warehouse management aims to reduce waste and improve operational efficiency. This study was conducted in the warehouse of PT XYZ, which was facing challenges in the material picking workflow due to sub-optimal storage layouts. The methods used included initial workflow analysis, waste identification and the application of lean manufacturing strategies such as storage centralisation and layout optimisation. The results showed that this approach successfully reduced material retrieval time from 12 minutes to 8 minutes and travel distance from 173 metres to 115 metres. In addition, storage space requirements were minimised by freeing up several racks for other materials. The implementation of Lean Manufacturing has significantly improved PT XYZ's warehouse productivity by creating a more efficient and organised workflow.

Abstract

Self Order Kiosk (SOK) is machines used for  ordering process. Each SOK machine, equipped with a state-of-the-art touchscreen, displays a variety of menu options, including food, drinks, snacks, and ice cream. When customers place orders through these machines, their orders are sent directly to the kitchen monitor. This allows kitchen staff to immediately prepare and serve the orders quickly and accurately, reducing customer waiting times. However, there have been several complaints from customers about the ordering process using the SOK machines, indicating that there is still room for improvement in the service. Given these issues, researchers are increasingly interested in using the Partial Least Squares-Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) method in this research and Technology Acceptance Model (TAM). PLS-SEM is an analysis technique that enables the simultaneous testing of relationships among multiple dependent and independent variables. TAM is a method designed to examine user attitudes towards technology. Each variable can be a factor or a construct composed of several indicators. The research results led to the conclusion that the perception of the usefulness and ease of use of the Self Order Kiosk (SOK) machine significantly influences the acceptance behavior of SOK technology.

Abstract

Sugar Industry waste water has a high Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) content so that it becomes a serious threat to the environment if it is not treated properly. For this reason, it is necessary to carry out processing efforts, one of which is with an alternative processing technology using a Rotating Biological Contactor (RBC). RBC is a wastewater treatment reactor physically and biologically consisting of a circular disk rotated by a shaft at a certain speed. This study aims to determine the efficiency of removal in treating wastewater from sugar factories and to identify microorganisms that play a role in the process of removing organic matter. In this study using variations of disc rotation speed and influent COD concentration. The parameter studied was COD from the sugar factory wastewater from Candi Baru, Sidoarjo. The results of the most effective variations in COD removal were at a disc rotation speed of 4 rpm with an influent COD concentration of 260 mg/L and for parameters. The highest reduction efficiency is 87.69 % for COD. The overall results of this study indicate that changes in disc rotational speed affect the removal efficiency for the COD parameter.
