Abstract

This study aims to examine the analysis of mass media coverage sentiment about the division of a new province in Papua. Using qualitative analysis with Q-DAS software, namely Nvivo 12Plus, this research collects data from online news and previous research related to the expansion of the Papua Province. The results show that there are pro and contra sentiments, where activists and citizens are more critical of it and reject it, while the government is more supportive of it. This analysis also uncovers various narratives in the media that highlight the potential benefits of regional expansion, such as development, better public services, and preserving local culture. However, there are also concerns about financial and economic inefficiencies and a lack of representation of indigenous people's voices. Relations between the different actors are complex, with decentralization principles governing interactions between the central government and the newly created local governments. This research emphasizes the need for a thorough evaluation, considering social, economic, political, and cultural impacts, and involving all relevant stakeholders in the decision-making process.

Abstract

Abstract

The growing use of social media by political parties has reshaped the landscape of political communication and campaign strategies in the digital democracy era. This study maps the evolution of scholarly literature on the utilization of social media by political parties from 2015 to 2025. Using bibliometric analysis through VOSviewer and data from the Scopus database, 97 peer-reviewed articles were examined to identify publication trends, dominant keywords, thematic structures, and patterns of author and country collaboration. The results reveal a significant increase in publications after 2019, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, reflecting a global shift toward digital campaigning. Key themes include social media, political communication, elections, disinformation, and populism, indicating growing scholarly attention to digital political transformation. The United Kingdom, Germany, and Spain emerged as the most productive contributors to this research field. However, the study is limited by its exclusive reliance on Scopus-indexed English-language publications, potentially overlooking non-English or regional studies, particularly from developing democracies. Future research should incorporate comparative datasets, mixed-method analyses, and deeper explorations of emerging platforms such as TikTok or Telegram to capture the evolving dynamics of algorithmic politics and audience engagement in digital democracy. Abstract

With a focus on three significant media outlets Kompas.com, CNN Indonesia, and TVOne this study attempts to examine media sentiment regarding the Free Nutritious Meals Program (MBG) in Indonesia. Positive, negative, neutral, and mixed sentiment were the four categories into which sentiment was divided using a descriptive qualitative technique with content analysis. The findings indicate that neutral emotion predominates in all three media outlets' news coverage, with more descriptive and educational articles about the program's execution. However, negative sentiment also emerges, particularly in relation to issues of food poisoning and distribution constraints. On the other hand, although it is less common, positive attitude emphasizes the program's success and support. Both praise and criticism of this policy are reflected in the mixed sentiment. These results demonstrate that the media not only contributes to the dissemination of accurate information but also influences public opinion by drawing attention to certain problems. The usefulness of Agenda Setting theory in comprehending how the media decides which issues the public should find essential is also demonstrated by this study. This study's modest sample size just 15 articles from each media source and only three online news media sites were examined may not accurately represent the whole range of MBG coverage in Indonesian media. In order to map the dynamics of sentiment changes towards MBG over time, more study is advised to increase the sample size by incorporating more news sources from other platforms, including social media, and extending the data collection period. Abstract

Child marriage remains a significant problem in Brebes Regency and is a contributing factor to the annual population increase. The Children's Forum program, managed by the DP3KB (Children's Forum), is a local government effort to reduce child marriage cases. It utilizes George C. Edwards III's policy implementation theory, which encompasses factors such as communication, resources, disposition, and bureaucratic structure. Qualitative descriptive methods were used in the study through observation and interviews. The results show that the Children's Forum serves as an example by conducting outreach activities in schools, educating students about the risks of child marriage, and collaborating with the DP3KB. Over the past five years, the program has helped reduce the percentage of early marriages under the age of 17. However, issues such as cultural factors, a lack of parental digital literacy, and a short-term mindset persist. Therefore, the Children's Forum has demonstrated successful policy implementation; however, to improve prevention outcomes, programs such as parenting classes should be implemented to make child marriage prevention more effective.
