<![CDATA[Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui tingkat kecemasan berbicara mahasiswasemester V Program Studi Pendidikan Bahasa Jepang Universitas Negeri Padang.Metode penelitian ini adalah penelitian kuantitatif dengan jenis survei. Populasidalam penelitian adalah mahasiswa semester V Program Studi Pendidikan BahasaJepang Universitas Negeri Padang yang terdaftar pada tahun ajaran 2015/2016.Sampel dalam penelitian ini sebanyak 35 orang mahasiswa semester V ProgramStudi Pendidikan Bahasa Jepang Universitas Negeri Padang. Data dalampenelitian ini adalah skor angket kecemasan berbahasa asing dan jenis kecemasanyang mempengaruhi mahasiswa. Adapun instrumen dari penelitian ini adalahangket tentang kecemasan berbicara yang diadaptasi dari Horwitz's FLCAS yangterdiri dari 33 butir pernyataan dan di skor menggunakan skala likert 1-5.Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, diketahui bahwa kecemasan berbicara mahasiswasemester V Program Studi Pendidikan Bahasa Jepang berada pada kategori sedangdengan persentase 88,57%. Kecemasan mahasiswa untuk jenis kecemasanketakutan dalam berkomunikasi berada pada skor 1163. Kecemasan mahasiswauntuk jenis kecemasan kekhawatiran menghadapi tes berada pada skor 1506.Kecemasan mahasiswa untuk jenis kecemasan takut evaluasi negatif berada padaskor 761.Kata Kunci : kecemasan berbicara]]>

<![CDATA[An article under the title “Writing Attitude of the Second Grade Students at SMA Adabiah Padang” is aimed to describe students’ writing attitude. The research was done at SMA Adabiah Padang. There were 48 students that became the sample of this research. They were students of XI IPA 1 and students of XI IPS 4 at SMA Adabiah Padang. They were chosen by using purposive sampling technique. The instrument used was questionnaire that consists of 20 statements. The Questionnaire was adapted from Kear et al. (2000). Students’ writing attitude was analysed using tripartite theory—affective, behaviour, and cognitive. The result shows that the second grade students of SMA Adabiah Padang have positive attitude toward writing.]]>

<![CDATA[Curriculum 2013 created some changes in the regulations and method used during the learning process. One of which is the existence of elective classes in Senior High School level, including English elective class. This class aimed to give the opportunity for the students to learn other subject outside their compulsory subjects based on their interest and passion. This regulation also existed in Islamic High School. There are more compulsory subjects in this school rather than in the regular school. Therefore, this study aimed to explore Islamic Senior High School students’ attitude toward literature in English. The participants of this research were 24 students of twelve-grade in science specialization class of MAN 1 Kota Bukittinggi. The sample was chosen using purposive sampling technique. The criterion for choosing the sample was the students who took English in elective class. This study employed descriptive research. The instrumentations of this research were questionnaire as the primarily and interview as the secondary to get deeper information. There were several categories asked to the students, which were students’ favorite genre of literature, advantages of literature, language preference in the classroom, and also the influence of numerous subjects in Islamic high school. Overall, the result of this research showed that students of Islamic Senior High School have positive attitude toward literature in English.]]>

<![CDATA[The new regulation in curriculum 2013 required senior high schools students to choose a compulsory subject that is generally known as elective course. One of all compulsory subjects in elective course is English elective class. Elective course are also implemented in every senior high schools in Indonesia including rural senior high schools. There are some obstacles to learning English in rural areas. Hence, the researcher is interested to research rural Senior High School students' attitudes toward literature in English. This study was descriptive qualitative research. The participants of this research were 22-second grade students as representative of Social Science class in second grade in SMA N 1 Batipuh. The instrumentations of this research are collected from questionnaire and interview. As for the points to the students, namely the favorite genre of literature, benefits of learning literature, topic preferences, the use of language in the classroom, and also the learning obstacles in rural senior high schools. The findings of this research showed that rural students have a positive attitude towards literature in English.]]>

<![CDATA[AbstractPenelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya kemampuan siswa SMPN 34 Padang terhadap pemahaman membaca. Strategi konvensional dalam pengajaran membaca yang digunakan guru kurang tepat dalam meningkatkan keterampilan membaca pemahaman. Oleh sebab itu perlu diterapkan sebuah strategi pengajaran membaca yang berguna untuk meningkatkan kemampuan pemahaman membaca siswa. Dalam penelitian ini, peneliti menggunakan strategi 3-2-1 pada kegiatan membaca. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat dampak penggunaan strategi 3-2-1 dalam kegiatan membaca terhadap pemahaman siswa dalam membaca. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kuasi eksperimen dengan desain Nonequivalent Control Group Post Test Only Design. Populasi penelitian adalah siswa kelas VIII SMPN 34 Padang tahun pelajaran 2016-2017 yang terdiri dari delapan kelas. Sampel penelitian yang diambil dengan menggunakan teknik cluster sampling ini terdiri dari dua kelas yaitu VIII 7 sebagai kelas experimen dan VIII 6 sebagai kelas control. Masing-masing kelas memiliki jumlah siswa 32 orang. Instrument yang digunakan adalah Reading Test yang terdiri dari tiga puluh butir soal dalam bentuk pilihan ganda. Tes tersebut dilakukan dua kali yaitu pre-test dan posttest. Setelah memberikan post-test didapat data berupa nilai reading test oleh kedua kelompok sampel yang kemudian dianalisis secara statistik dengan menggunakan rumus t-test, dan ditemukan bahwa t-hitung sebesar 4.45, sedangkan t-tabel sebesar 1.998, yang berarti t-hitung > t-tabel. pada taraf signifikasi 0.05. Berdasarkan hasil hitungan ini, disimpulkan bahwa penggunaan strategi 3-2-1 dalam pembelajaran membaca memberikan pengaruh yang lebih baik terhadap pemahaman siswa dalam membaca.]]>

<![CDATA[AbstractThis study aimed to invedtigate senor high school students’ ability in analyzing the meaing of song in English. the participant of this research were 20 students grade eleventh in SMA Pembangunan Laboratorium UNP who take the English subject as their elective subject. This study is descriptive research with qualitative approach. The result of the test given showed that the students’ ability in analyzing the meaning of song in English was in the category of poor. It was shown by the students’ difficulties in elaborating their ideas into some pargaraphs and the students’ difficulties in concluding convincing evidence in the body paragraph.]]>

<![CDATA[Analytical exposition text is one of the compulsory texts which is taught in senior high school in Indonesia. The aim of this research is to analyze how good students’ ability and describe students’ difficulties in writing analytical exposition text. It was a descriptive research. The population of this research is the second grade students of SMA Adabiah Padang, it were 48 students as the sample: XI IPA 1 which consists of 22 students and others form XI IPS 4. The students were asked to write an analytical exposition text. The students’ writing was analyzed by using the criterion published by Weston High School’s writing rubric which consists of five indicators: the introduction, body paragraphs and examples, conclusion, mechanics, and grammar and word choice. Based on the findings, most of the students get poor ability in four indicators measured: the introduction, body paragraphs and examples, conclusion, and mechanics and get good ability in the grammar and word choice.]]>

<![CDATA[This study aimed to investigate senior high school students’ attitude towards advantages of learning literature in English. The participants of this research were 22 eleventh grade students in SMAN 2 Padang who took English as Specialization class. This study was descriptive qualitative research used in investigating senior high school students’ attitude towards literature in English. The instrumentations of this research were questionnaire and interview. The following are advantages of learning literature in English, encouraging language sources, improving language skill, expanding students’ awareness through environment and willingness to learn English language. The findings of the research showed that students’ attitude towards advantages of learning literature in English is positive.]]>

<![CDATA[This study aimed to analyse common themes found in the English poems taught to senior high school students. Theme is unstated main idea of a literary work The object of this study was the poems in English taken from textbooks. This is a content analysis research used in analyzing the poems taken from textbooks. The instrumentations of this research was the researcher myself.The findings of the research showed that not all the poems’ theme are related to the teenage life as what Curriculum 2013 required. There were three poems which related to teenage life and fullfil the demand of Curriculum 2013.]]>

<![CDATA[This research is descriptive quantitave research. The purpose of this research istofind out the level of students speaking anxiety and coping strategy used by the students in dealing with speaking anxiety. The population of this research was the second year students at SMA N 2 Pariaman. The research sample was 70 students of class XI IPA. The instrument of this research was a questionnaire, foreign language speaking anxiety questionnaire (FLSA) it was adopted from Öztürk & Gürbüz (2014) and coping strategy questionnaire it was adopted from Kondo & Yang (2004).The results of this study is first, most of the students experienced the moderate level of speaking anxiety. Second, there are five strategies used by the students to cope with speaking anxiety they are preparation, relaxation, positive thinking, peer-seeking, and resignation. Dominant coping strategies used by the students is positive thinking and less dominant strategy used by the students is resignation.]]>
