Abstract

Photographs are important elements in ecotourism activities. The current research utilizes respondents' geotagged photographs to explore the potential landscape objects with its locations. The study invited 61 respondents to come to Bukit Kucing Forest and capture impressive landscape objects. The study used Getis-Org Gi* Hotspot analysis tools in ArcGIS to identify hotspots places based on the numbers of closest photos captured points to five-meters trail segments. There were 1,712 geo-tagged photographs consist of 412 self-portraits and 1,300 ordinary photographs collected from respondents. The finding shows that geotagged photographs, both self-portraits and ordinary photographs, performed hotspots places that containedimpressive landscape objects including: physical structures, wide opening area and panoramic views. Self-portraits' hotspots which were detected more spread and less number than ordinary photographs were able to perform places that werenot detected in ordinary photographs' hotspots. The current work shows that geotagged self-portraits is able to be utilized as object research in identifying hotspots of impressive landscape spaces and objects. The maps of geotagged photographs both ordinary photographs and self-portraits are able to be used as information of visitors' preferences for developing masterplan of ecotourism. Keywords: forest, Geotagged, hotspots, photographs, self-portraits.

Abstract

Tropical Forest is a unique forest landscape character composed of vegetation with various altitude strata combined with other biotic and abiotic landscape elements. The combination of landscape objects produces a landscape character that is visually attractive to visitors. There are few references to forest sceneries and objects of interest to forest visitors, even though this information is important for forest tourism. This study identified tropical forest sceneries and objects of interest to forest visitors through photographs taken by visitors. The method used is Visitors' Employed Photography (VEP) combined with GPS tracking and artificial intelligence Google Clouds Vision API. In this VEP method, we invited 41 respondents to walk in the "Situ Gede Forest " and directly photograph interesting objects in the field. We obtained 1,206 photos from respondents containing the scenery and objects of the "Situ Gede Forest" and the location of the photo-taking points. The photos were labeled via Google Cloud's Vision API and clustered based on the Photo's label into 15 photo clusters using R Statistics software. The grouping results identified three sceneries and objects that interested the respondents: "View to the standing of trees inside the forest, woodland, or jungle," "Forest scenery with recreational activities and zoo," and "Body of water, edge of the body of water, waterway, and trees." Information on the three characteristics of tropical forest landscapes is beneficial in tropical forest management activities, where landscapes with these three types must be conserved and preserved in the interest of sustainable tourism forest.

Abstract

Green Open Space was an instrument to provide an open space for people to do some activities that can be city icons. Pamedan Ahmad Yani Field was one of the city's icons in Tanjungpinang, but the design has not implemented the local culture into its design. Local culture can be used or implemented as a site appeal. This research aims to provide a redesign of Pamedan Ahmad Yani Field as a city park using local culture in the site design. Riau Islands culture was adapted considering the site location located in Tanjungpinang, Riau Islands, which is popular with its culture and literature, Gurindam 12. Questionnaires were distributed to 93 people to gain visitors' data and their perspectives about redesigning using local culture in the site design. The concept applied in the design is Modern-Local Cultural (Moltural), which combines local culture with current design developments. This research contains a series of designs consisting of commissioning, analysis, problem definition, conceptual studies, preliminary/schematic designs, site plans, and construction documents, with the final result in the form of designs with a local cultural approach consisting of working drawings and illustrations.

Abstract

“Cengkih Afo” is one of the original varieties of cloves from the city of Ternate. Currently, the Cengkih Afo area has been developed into a tourist destination that offers the beauty of nature, local culture and the Cengkih Afo Clove Tree itself. However, some areas within the region are not well-maintained, necessitating further evaluation of the aesthetic quality of the Cengkih Afo tourist area to enhance its existing tourism potential. The study aims to evaluate the aesthetic quality of the Cengkih Afo recreation area based on visitor perception. Method used in this research was the descriptive method by using the Scenic Beauty Estimation (SBE) and Semantic Differential (SD) analysis. The research results show the Cengkih Afo ecotourism area has very diverse aesthetic qualities as indicated by the SBE (Scenic Beauty Estimate) value, from the lowest value (SBE = -45) to the highest value (SBE = 113). High aesthetic quality shows that natural and artificial features are integrated harmoniously, neatly (orderly), and safe to move inside. The moderate aesthetic quality shows that the relationship between the two features is less harmonious and the forming elements are less neatly arranged. Low aesthetic quality indicates the presence of landscape elements that endanger visitors. Redesign is one of the important recommendations for improving the aesthetic quality of the ecotourism area.

Abstract

Sanggu Lake Tourism Area, located in South Barito Regency, Central Kalimantan, plays an important role in providing green open space for recreational and relaxation activities. The lack of management and changes in building orientation reduce the quality of the site and pose threats to environmental damage. Therefore it is necessary to redesign the waterfront area with an ecological approach to reduce environmental impact. The purpose of this research is to identify site character, analyze the potential and constraints on the site, to develop an ecological design concept, and to ecologically design the Sanggu Lake Tourism Area based on the waterfront concept. The stages of the research include the process of preparation, inventory, analysis and synthesis, and design. Collecting data through surveys, literature studies, interviews, and questionnaires. The basic concept of the research is "Ranu Welum" or Water of Life which is revealed to be 3 basic values, namely socio-cultural center, ecological park, and recreational waterfront. The design concept is taken from the typical Dayak motif, namely "Batang Garing" or the Tree of Life and implemented in spatial patterns, circulation, and vegetation. Ecological design is applied by implementing ecological principles based on community preferences. The results of the study are area redesign consisting of reception zones, tourist zones I, tourist zones II, relaxation zones, play zones, exercise zones, and service zones.

Abstract

The global spread of Covid-19 in Indonesia has posed severe challenges. The government has implemented access restriction policies to prevent the spread of the virus. While beneficial in the context of health, these policies have negatively impacted individuals' physical and mental well-being, as humans inherently require open spaces for tranquility, contemplation, and others. However, many city parks have been abandoned during the pandemic due to a lack of supporting facilities, including Taman Tegar Beriman. Given these conditions, this research aims to redesign Taman Tegar Beriman using a pandemic-friendly landscape approach incorporating the new normal concept. Spatial and descriptive analysis methods are employed to process physical, biophysical, and health data and identify community preferences. The design stages include analysis, schematic concepts, site plans, and construction drawings. The fundamental concept of this redesign is to optimize the function of Taman Tegar Beriman as a city park that is safe from the risk of virus transmission. The design concept draws inspiration from the radial and linear forms of the virus, which are then applied to the spatial layout, circulation, and facilities within the park. The design results can be a reference in rebuilding Tegar Beriman Park, which can adapt to future pandemic conditions.
