Abstract

This study aims to examine the tendency of online media coverage of cases of sexual violence experienced by women, especially in this study the case of Novia Widyasari, a student in Mojokerto, East Java. The online media, which are considered to have not given special attention to these cases. The production of texts in news tends to be far from positioning women as victims of sexual violence. The research method uses Robert N. Entman's framing analysis with a critical paradigm to disassemble the production of texts in online media that present news related to sexual violence. The object of research regarding cases of violence against women was taken from three online media, namely suara.com, kompas.com, and cnnindonesia.com with a system of choosing one news item to represent. The results show that not all media can provide a frame that fits the case of violence. The balance of news related to cases of sexual violence experienced by Novia Widyasari from media institutions is refraction. On the news side, there is a protrusion of the victim, namely as a woman and receiving sexual treatment. The news strengthens the cultural ideology in which women are considered to be the weakest.

Abstract

Abstract The concept of conflict management often focuses only on how to stop the conflict. However, how to prevent these conflicts from happening again, and how to maintain permanent peace, often escapes scientific studies and the attention of conflict theorists and parties concerned with world peace. Based on this phenomenon, Bar-Siman-Tov developed a theory regarding the creation of lasting peace (stable peace) through a dialectic between the "peace approach" (top down structural) and the "reconciliation approach" (bottom up social psychological). The research is aimed at analyzing the Ambon conflict using the Bar-Siman-Tov theory. The Ambon conflict is a big story in the history of the Indonesian nation. Maluku,  known as a peaceful region with all its plurality, was tested in 1999-2002 by a major conflict. The method used is the library method by collecting data through various written sources. The results of the study show that the dialectic of a structural "peace approach" with a grassroots "reconciliation approach" is capable of creating stable peace. Keywords: stable peace; peace; reconciliation; dialectics

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui Strategi Komunikasi Dalam Pengembangan Industri Pariwisata berbasis Budaya Lokal yang bisa diterapkan di Kabupaten Biak Numfor Papua. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Metode pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah metode triangulasi dengan mengombinasikan teknik-teknik pengumpulan data seperti observasi, wawancara mendalam, dan FGD untuk menganalisis potensi pengembangan pariwisata berbasis budaya lokal. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Strategi yang diterapkan dalam pengembangan industri pariwisata berbasis budaya lokal di Biak Numfor dalam pengimplementasian program Desa Budaya (Cultural Village) yang berkaitan dengan persoalan penentuan tujuan komunikasi; segmentasi khalayak; penyusunan dan metode penyampaian pesan; pemilihan media; dan peranan komunikator. Berkaitan dengan penentuan tujuan komunikasi, pengembangan industri pariwisata berbasis budaya lokal di Biak Numfor menetapkan tujuan mereka ke dalam empat formasi, yaitu menginformasikan; menumbuhkan kesadaran; mengajak dan mendidik masyarakat; dan berupaya memelihara partisipasi masyarakat setempat secara berkelanjutan. Mengenai segmentasi khalayak, sasaran utamanya para calon wisatawan. Sementara terkait dengan metode penyampaian pesan, pengembangan industri pariwisata berbasis budaya lokal di Biak Numfor melakukannya dengan menerapkan metode canalizing, yaitu mempengaruhi khalayak untuk menerima pesan yang disampaikan, kemudian secara perlahan-lahan mengubah sikap dan pola pemikirannya ke arah yang kita kehendaki.

Abstract

Promosi dan pemasaran telah lama dikaitkan dengan komunikasi karena merupakan alat bagi organisasi terhubung dengan khalayaknya. Olahraga merupakan sarana yang efektif untuk membujuk masyarakat, dan industri olahraga menggunakan promosi dan pemasaran untuk menjangkau penggemar dan masyarakat, serta memperoleh pendapatan dari kegiatan tersebut. Promosi dan pemasaran olahraga telah menjangkau khalayaknya melalui saluran komunikasi, yang disebut sebagai media konvensional seperti media cetak dan media elektronik, dan yang paling baru adalah media digital yang dikenal sebagai media baru. Untuk mengetahui perkembangan promosi dan pemasaran olahraga, digunakan metode kualitatif dengan studi literatur dan wawancara terkait pemasaran dan promosi olahraga di era digital. Kemajuan teknologi di mana manusia memasuki era digital juga berdampak pada cara organisasi menggunakan promosi dan pemasaran olahraga untuk menarik perhatian massa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa di era digital ini, agar promosi dan pemasaran olahraga yang dilakukan lebih efektif maka entitas olahraga harus memanfaatkan semua saluran komunikasi termasuk media baru untuk meraup keuntungan lebih besar, menjangkau lebih banyak khalayak, terhubung setiap saat dengan orang-orang, dan semakin dekat dengan para penggemar.

Abstract

This study explores the transformative role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in interpersonal communication, focusing on the opportunities and challenges in the digital era. Through a comprehensive literature review, we examine how AI technologies such as virtual assistants, chatbots, and predictive algorithms are reshaping the landscape of personal interactions. The research highlights AI's potential in enhancing communication efficiency, personalization, and accessibility, while also addressing critical challenges including the loss of emotional depth, user frustration, and authenticity issues. Furthermore, the study delves into ethical considerations surrounding AI-mediated communication, particularly privacy concerns, technological dependence, and the creation of filter bubbles. Our findings suggest that while AI offers unprecedented opportunities for streamlined and personalized communication, it also poses significant challenges to the emotional and ethical dimensions of interpersonal relationships. This research contributes to the growing body of knowledge on human-AI interaction and provides insights for developing more balanced and ethical approaches to integrating AI in everyday communication.

Abstract

Interpersonal relationships are crucial for university students navigating the transition to adulthood, particularly in dormitory settings that blend shared spaces with individual privacy. This study investigates the self-disclosure process among students living in dormitories with separate rooms, utilizing the Social Penetration Theory framework. Adopting a qualitative phenomenological approach, data were gathered through in-depth interviews with 10 informants. The results reveal a gradual progression of interpersonal relationships through four stages: orientation, exploratory affective exchange, full affective exchange, and stability. Each stage is influenced by the dynamics of dormitory life, where shared areas like kitchens and living rooms encourage interaction, while private rooms maintain personal boundaries. The findings align with Social Penetration Theory, demonstrating that self-disclosure evolves from surface-level conversations to deeper emotional exchanges as trust develops. Trust, shared experiences, and consistent interaction are identified as critical factors in fostering closer relationships. These insights emphasize the importance of communal environments in supporting interpersonal growth. The study concludes that while individual privacy is valued, shared spaces play a pivotal role in promoting social bonding among students. Recommendations include designing dormitory layouts to facilitate interaction and implementing university programs to foster a sense of community, especially for students living away from their families. This research contributes to understanding how self -disclosure unfolds within a collective culture and provides practical strategies to enhance student well- being and connection.

Abstract

The rapid spread of information on social media poses significant challenges for businesses in managing crises, as seen in the case of Es Teh Indonesia in September 2022. This study analyzes the company’s response to a viral customer critique on the sweetness of its Chizu Red Velvet product. Employing Situational Crisis Communication Theory (SCCT) and Image Restoration Theory (IRT), the study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the company’s crisis communication strategies. A qualitative literature review method was used to assess public reactions, media coverage, and the company’s legal response. The results indicate that Es Teh Indonesia’s legal action intensified public scrutiny, redirected focus to broader health concerns, and adversely affected its brand reputation. The study concludes that empathetic and transparent communication is critical in the digital era. It recommends real-time monitoring of public sentiment, open dialogue with customers, and the use of legal measures only as a last resort. These findings offer valuable insights for local businesses navigating crisis communication challenges in Indonesia's dynamic digital environment.

Abstract

Homo Digital merupakan subjek yang unik. Dalam kondisi yang serba mudah dan praktis dalam berkomunikasi di era digital probadi homo digital dihadapkan pada pilihan eksentrik yang disebut anomali komunikasi. Penerapan komunikasi digital, khususnya dalam politik dan demokrasi, tidak menghasilkan kondisi seperti dibayangkan, sehingga sulit untuk tidak bersikap skeptis terhadapnya. Dewasa ini manusia dikacaukan dengan satu fenomena baru, yaitu kontes hoaks. Manusia komunikasi modern atau homo digital memanfaatkan kecanggihan alat komunikasi modern untuk mencari pembenaran bukan kebenaran. Kotens hoaks merebak secara meluas tidak hanya dalam satu negara tapi mendunia sehingga bisa disebut pandemi hoaks yang telah meracuni seantero manusia jagat raya ini. Negara hukum berdiri tegak dan kelihatannya kokoh, tetapi perubahan yang sangat cepat sedang menggerogoti De mortalis ini dari dalam. Tidak ada darah yang tumpah, tak ada bau mesin. Yang terjadi adalah suatu pandemi hoaks dengan plintiran kebencian yang memicu konflik horizontal. Demagogi rasis dan orasi kebencian kepada agama lain, suku lain, etnis lain seperti selama Pemilu Presiden 2019, dilolongkan kencang-kencang dari revolusi digital yang hanya kelihatannya senyap itu. Dari klik pada gawai dipiculah kekacauan baru, digital state of nature. Kata Kunci: Homo Digital Fenomena Anomali Komunikasi

Abstract

This study aims to analyse the responses (feedback) given by netizens to four social media accounts of regional heads in South Sulawesi. Qualitative research with a descriptive approach was conducted with a focus on the scope of managing responses (feedback) from the public on the Instagram social media accounts of Makassar Mayor Ramdhan Danny Pomanto, Parepare of Mayor Taufan Pawe, Gowa of Regent Adnan Purichta Ichsan, and North Luwu of Regent Indah Putri Indriani for the period June – September 2023. Data were analysed using the NVivo 12 Plus application tool. The results showed that the management of feedback on the Instagram accounts of the four regional heads was not optimal because there was no SOP (Standard Operating Procedure) format given by each regional head to the account manager, although some feedback was answered via direct messege as well as with a pattern through the scope of related agencies to find solutions. The form of feedback used by followers on the regional heads' Instagram accounts consists of positive, negative, and neutral feedback.
