Abstract

Because of its soft, ductile and easy-to-work nature, steel is widely used as a material in making a product. To obtain hard properties on the surface and remain soft at the core, a surface hardening process is carried out, so that the product can function according to its design objectives. One way to do this surface hardening is with solid carbon media or pack carburizing. To carry out this carburizing process, a furnace is required that is designed to be heat resistant and easy to operate. safe with coal fuel. for the furnace tester that has been designed, testing was carried out on low carbon steel using 1000 grams of activated charcoal carburization media with variations: 200 grams, 100 grams, 66.7 grams of Calcium carbonate (CaCo3) at a heating temperature of 950 0C and a holding time of 4 hours. Then continued with the quenching process. The test results show that the test material with a composition of 1000 grams of activated charcoal with 200 grams of calcium carbonate is better with the addition of carbon elements so that when quenching is carried out, a martensite microstructure is formed.

Abstract

This study investigates the effects of adding 30 wt.% aluminum silicate and varying sintering temperatures on the density and hardness of vitrified fly ash glass ceramics. Fly ash, a waste by product from coal combustion at the Suralaya thermal power plant has long posed environmental challenges. To mitigate these impacts, this research explores its utilization in producing glass ceramics. The samples were prepared as cylindrical samples with a diameter of 15 mm and thickness of 5 mm, and were fabricated using uniaxial pressing at 120 MPa. The samples were sintered at 1050, 1100, and 1150 °C with a heating rate of 5 °C/min. Experimental results reveal that adding 30 wt.% AS significantly improves the density from 2.31 to 2.51 g/cm³ and hardness from 443 to 2418.55 MPa compared to 100 wt.% fly ash. Optimal density and hardness were achieved at a sintering temperature of 1150 °C.

Abstract

This taro chopper machine will work when the electric motor is turned on it will rotate then the rotary motion of the machine is transmitted to the pulley by using a v-belt to move the shaft, the disk where the knife will rotate and the taro is ready to be chopped. After the taro is chopped it will come out through the funnel. So far, industry or industrial machinery products have shown very rapid capabilities, both in terms of volume and in terms of the variety of products produced. Product development is not only marked by the fulfillment of public interest in industrial products, both small and large scale but also leads to exports which will increase foreign exchange for the Indonesian state. There are many agricultural communities, one of which is taro because the season is suitable for the territory of Indonesia. With the development of appropriate technological advances, technological tools can be found that can process agricultural products, so thoughts are made on how to increase and ease work or process crops or process taro products to increase selling prices even better. The general aim of the research is to facilitate the slicing of taro for chip entrepreneurs, especially taro chips, and it can also be operated for cutting or slicing such as tempeh, potatoes, sweet potatoes, carrots, etc. The specific purpose for making this tool is to know the capacity of the taro chopper, to know the components that exist in the taro chopper, and to analyze the results of the taro chopper. From the manufacture of the tool, it can be concluded that this taro chopper is operated semi-automatically using an electric motor. This machine chopping method is a single chopper with 1 type of knife that cuts the taro continuously. This taro chopper machine design requires power from an electric motor of HP. The effective capacity of the tool obtained by the taro chopper machine is 33.3 gr/s.

Abstract

Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) is one of the liquid welding processes (fusion welding) that produces a homogeneous fusion of the electrode with the base metal (base metal), which is caused by an electric arc that generates high heat to melt the electrode and base metal (base metal). simultaneously and protected by a shielding gas from the chemical reaction of the electrode flux. The depth of fusion formed is determined by the heat input, the electrode angle and the welding direction. The research was conducted at the Mechanical Engineering Laboratory of the Padang Institute of Technology. The base metal used is low carbon steel ST 37 with a thickness of 10 mm and a length of 100 mm. width 100mm. Welding is carried out on the surface of the base metal in the flat position, the type of connection (weld type) is a surfacing weld with 4 welding lines, each strip having a distance of 20 mm. Weld length 100mm. AWS E 6013 electrode specifications with a diameter of 3.2 mm. SMAW welding machine AC current with a voltage of 30 V. current 85 A. The measured electrode angle between the electrode and the welding line is 750, 850, 900. The backward welding direction where the electrode draws the welding fluid into the welding path and the normal arc height where the distance between the electrode and the base metal is equal to the diameter of the electrode. From the welding results, a penetration presentation will be obtained, namely the ratio of the depth of fusion to the width.  The research results obtained welding speed: 2.48 mm/s for electrode angle 750, 2.49 mm/s for electrode angle 850 and 2.51 mm/s for electrode angle 90. Heat input for electrode angle 750 is 1015.93 J/ mm, the heat input for the electrode angle 850 is 1024.20 J/mm and the heat input for the electrode angle 900 is 1015.93 J/mm. From the comparison of the width with the depth of fusion, it is obtained; The electrode angle 85 has a penetration presentation of 9.85%, which is better in height than the electrode angle 750, which has a penetration presentation of 8.43%, and the electrode angle 900 has a penetration presentation of 8.35%.

Abstract

Abstrak. Pemantauan dan pengendalian level air dalam tangki penyimpanan secara manual sering kali tidak efisien dan berisiko menyebabkan air yang terbuang sia sia. Oleh karna itu, penelitian ini mengembangkan sistem monitoring berbasis Internet of things menggunakan ESP32, sensor ultrasonik, dan relay, dengan aplikasi Blynk serrta Telegram sebagai media pemantauan dan notifikasi. Sistem ini memungkinkan pengguna untuk melihat level air secara real-time dan mengontrol pompa air secara otomatis atau manual melalui aplikasi.Pengujian sistem menunjukkan bahwa snesor ultrasonik memiliki akurasi tinggi dalam mendeteksi level air, sementara sistem kendali pompa berbasis relay bekerja dengan baik dalam mengisidan menghentikan aliran air sesuai dengan batas yang telah ditentukan. Dengan adanya sistem ini, pengguna dapat lebih mudah mengontrol ketersediaan air dan menghindari pemborosan.  Abstract. Manual monitoring and control of the water level in the storage tank is often inefficient and risks causing wasted water. Therefore, this research developed an Internet of things-based monitoring system using ESP32, ultrasonic sensors, and relays, with the Blynk application as Telegram as a monitoring and notification medium. The system allows users to view the water level in real-time and control the water pump automatically or manually through the app.System testing shows that ultrasonic sensor have high accuracy in detecting water levels, while relay-based pump control systems work well in filling and stopping the water flow according to predetermined limits. With this system, users can more easily control water availability and avoid waste.

Abstract

Friction rotary welding (Pengelasan gesek rotary) merupakan salah satu dari proses pengelasan yang menghasilkan penggabungan melalui energi panas yang dihasilkan antara dua permukaan sambungan akibat putaran tinggi  pada kedua  permukaan logam bergesek. Panas yang dihasilkan akibat gesekan permukaan sangat tergantung kepada jumlah putaran putaran dari motor penggerak. Spesifikasi mesin Friction rotary welding menggunakan penggerak dengan motor listrik daya 2 HP menghasilakan putaran pada chuck  3950 rpm, Penekan sambungan menggunakan dongkrak hydraulic 2 ton  dan dilengkapi dengan sistim pengereman yang berfungsi untuk menghentikan putaran motor setelah terjadi penyambungan dengan waktu pengereman 1.1 detik. Material uji yang digunakan adalah baja karbon rendah dengan diameter 10 mm dan diameter 8 mm,  panjang material uji 8 cm. Jumlah material uji diameter 10 mm adalah 6 batang. Dan jumlah material uji diameter 8 mm sebanyak 6 batang .  Permukaan material uji yang disambung harus rata dan bersih dari karatan atau zat kimia lainnya yang dapat merusak penyatuan  sambungan. Bahan Pengujian adalah  baja  diameter 10 mm dan baja diameter 8 mm. Hasil pengujian baja 10 mm adalah panjang awal 16 cm dengan tiga kali pengujian diperoleh rata rata  panjang akhir 15, 5 cm dengan waktu total pengelasan rata rata 79 detik. Dimana  waktu timbulnya panas dan penekanan 20 detik,  besar  gaya penekanan 196 N. hasil pengujian baja  diameter 8 mm, Panjang awal 16 cm  dengan tiga kali pengujian diperoleh panjang akhir rata rata 15,5 cm dan total waktu pengelasan 49 detik, waktu panas 8 detik, besar gaya penekanan 157 N.Dari pengujian struktur makro dan pengujian bending menunjukan sifat mekanik yang baik dimana sampel uji tidak ada yang patah atau retak pada pada sambungan nugget yang terbentuk.Kata kunci :  Putaran, Lama Pemanasan, Penekanan

Abstract

Small to medium-sized restaurants, such as mie sop ayam kampung in kota stabat, often face issues with order recording and daily transactions due to manual methods. This leads to slow service and inaccuracies in transaction records. To address these challenges, this study aims to design a QR Code-based food ordering system integratet with a website. This system allows customers to scan QR Codes at their tables, view digital menus, and place orders directly. The research uses the waterfall method, consisting of requirement analysis, design, implementation, testing, and maintenance phases. Each stage is carried out systematically to ensure that the system developed meets the operational needs of the restaurant. The results show that the QR Code-based ordering system improves operational needs of the restaurant. The results show that the QR Code-based ordering system improves operational efficiently. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that implementing Qr Code Technology in food ordering systems enhances efficiency and customer satisfaction while helping restaurants better manage their operations.

Abstract

Badan Penanggulangan Bencana Daerah (BPBD) Kota Binjai memiliki peran penting dalam penyaluran bantuan logistik bagi masyarakat terdampak bencana. Proses pencatatan dan distribusi bantuan yang selama ini dilakukan secara manual sering menimbulkan kendala, seperti keterlambatan informasi, kesalahan pencatatan, dan sulitnya memantau stok barang secara real-time. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk merancang dan membangun sistem informasi logistik berbasis web menggunakan bahasa pemrograman PHP dan basis data MySQL. Metode pengembangan yang digunakan adalah Waterfall yang meliputi tahap analisis kebutuhan, perancangan sistem, implementasi, pengujian, dan pemeliharaan. Sistem ini dilengkapi dengan fitur pengelolaan data admin, kategori barang, data barang, serta distribusi bantuan yang terintegrasi secara real-time. Hasil pengujian menunjukkan bahwa sistem dapat membantu proses pencatatan dan pelacakan stok barang secara lebih efisien, mempercepat distribusi bantuan, serta meningkatkan akurasi dan akuntabilitas dalam pengelolaan logistik BPBD Kota Binjai. Abstract

Water is a source of life, but it is very easily polluted because water is known as a universal solvent and is able to dissolve many substances. Water pollution is the pollution of water bodies (seas, lakes, rivers, groundwater) caused by human activities. To obtain water that meets water quality standards, it must be supported by an appropriate water treatment system, one of which is the water treatment tool in this research, called AFRO. AFRO works with a reverse osmosis filtration aeration process. Previously, AFRO was developed to treat raw water containing dissolved impurities. However, the results are less than satisfactory, so it needs to be developed further to meet the need for clean water that can be utilized by the community. The development of AFRO in this research is based on the House of Quality (HQ) matrix. From this HQ matrix, a presentation of development priorities was obtained from the previous one in the form of design changes of 16.1%, material changes of 9.6%, processing processes of 14% and energy changes of 9.2%. From the tests that have been carried out, this time AFRO can process raw water from dissolved and insoluble impurities. This tool is also equipped with a solar energy utilization system. The AFRO water treatment process developed consists of (1) chemical process, (2) aeration, (3) filtration, (4) reverse osmosis and (5) disinfection using ultra violet (UV) light.

Abstract

Until now, the problem of theft of motorbikes and livestock in North Sumatra is still quite high.  Locations for motorbike theft can occur in many places such as schools, homes, parking lots, offices and so on, while for livestock it can occur on pastures and in pens during the day or night and the perpetrators are men. To make this theft a success, various modes are used in varying human positions, from sitting, squatting to standing. To help overcome this, several object detection methods have been developed such as Background Subtraction, Template Matching, Histogram Oriented Gradient (HOG), Deformable Part-based Model (DPM) and Viola Jones (VJ).   Of the many methods that have been used, there are still shortcomings, namely in terms of time, accuracy and various human positions.  For this reason, research was carried out with the aim of improving the time and level of accuracy in detecting human objects using the YOLO method. The research stages carried out in this research include literature study, collecting data, determining training and test data, creating programs, training, and testing. From the trials carried out, it is known that YOLO can detect humans in various positions with a mAP value of 0.99 and an average detection time of 810.01 ms.
