Abstract

The Sauyunan Women Farmers Group and the Sabilulungan Farmers Group face obstacles in meeting the demand for quality banana seeds. They usually get banana seedling propagated conventionally with the consequence that production is not optimal because of many deficiencies. Moreover, their knowledge about banana pests and diseases and their management is still lacking. These challenges were answered by providing counseling and technology transfer of acclimatization of tissue culture banana seeds based on the concept of integrated pest and disease management. The programs was attended by 23 participants who were group members and a Field Instructor Officers of Tamansari District. Participants were given counseling on the economic potential of bananas, banana tissue culture seedling, acclimatization, and types of banana pests and diseases and their management in an integrated manner. In addition, technology transfer of tissue culture banana seedling acclimatization was provided through training methods which included preparing media, planting seeds (acclimatization), handling, transplanting, as well as observation and monitoring. Thus, participants were given insight and skills in responding to the supply of quality banana seeds needed in an effort to increase their income through this program.

Abstract

Chili anthracnose, caused by Colletotrichum spp., remains a major threat to crop productivity and fruit quality worldwide. The increasing resistance of fungal pathogens to synthetic fungicides highlights the need for sustainable, plant-based alternatives. This study provides computational insights into the antifungal mechanisms of coumarin and hexanol, two major bioactive compounds derived from Ageratum conyzoides and Cyperus rotundus. Molecular docking and molecular dynamics simulations were employed to examine the interactions of these compounds with key Colletotrichum proteins, including calmodulin, PETFP cutinase complex, and chitin deacetylase. The docking results revealed that coumarin exhibited stronger binding affinities and more stable conformations within the enzyme active sites than hexanol, forming multiple hydrogen bonds and π–π stacking interactions with catalytic residues. Molecular dynamics analyses further confirmed the structural stability and compactness of coumarin–protein complexes, indicating its potential to disrupt fungal enzymatic functions critical for pathogenicity. These findings suggest that coumarin, in particular, may serve as a promising lead compound for the development of eco-friendly antifungal agents. The study contributes to a molecular-level understanding of plant-derived antifungal mechanisms, supporting future research into the rational design and optimization of biofungicides for sustainable agriculture.

Abstract

Waste production in Tasikmalaya City reaches 313,956 kg/day, with 82.29% remaining unmanaged and 16.6% entering the Ciangir Landfill in Tamansari District. This situation has triggered a waste emergency and overloaded the Ciangir Landfill. This community service research aims to enhance the capacity of residents in Mugarsari Village, Tamansari District, in managing organic and plastic waste independently through education, training, and appropriate technology enhancement. The methods used include offline socialization and hands-on practice. A total of 19 housewives participated in this community service. Evaluation results showed a 16.75% increase in participants' comprehension with all participants confirming that the material was easy to understand and applicable. However, operating the simple plastic pyrolysis tool requires the formation of a community waste management team for optimal performance. This program has proven effective in promoting community-based waste management to reduce the burden on the TPA Ciangir while supporting the achievement of SDGs 12 and 13.
