Abstract

The economy of the whole world developed so quickly, encourage increased consumption of energy gradually. Energy consumption in the building sector has also increased with the demands of society in thermal comfort in the room. With the hot weather, the influence of the temperature in the room will rise. Some things that need to be reviewed in the manufacture of concrete in the place are the price is relatively low, easy to obtain, has high compressive strength, and has resistant to any environmental conditions. However, some problems still need to be resolved in the development of the Phase Change Material (PCM) composite that has a stable form. The proposed PCM has a thermal comfort temperature (16-26 ℃). The main purpose of this research was to investigate the influence of addition beeswax as a water-resistant mixture on the mechanical and thermal properties of concrete. In this research, the cement used was ordinary Portland Cement and replaced some of its Weight with paraffin wax in the mixture. The results of the research with the use of 10, 20 and 30% beeswax in a mixture of a concrete show that the increase in the content of Beeswax resulted in a decrease in the compressive strength of 22% and an increase in heat absorption by the concrete between without PCM with the Concrete-PCM is obtained by 10%.

Abstract

Abstrak: Tujuan pengabdian ini adalah mengimplementasikan pemanfaatan kompor surya bagi masyarakat dalam upaya melestarikan energi terbarukan. Metode yang digunakan dalam pengabdian ini terdiri dari tahap persiapan, tahap pelaksanaan, dan tahap evaluasi dan monitoring. Mitra dalam kegiatan pengabdian ini adalah masyarakat nelayan, ibu-ibu darma wanita berjumlah 32 orang yang berdomisili di Gampong Seunebok Baroh, Kecamatan Darul Aman, Kabupaten Aceh Timur. Dalam pelaksanaan pengabdian, masyarakat langsung mempraktikkan penggunaan kompor surya dengan cara menggoreng kerupuk dan telur. Dari hasil pengabdian diperoleh bahwa masyarakat telah memperoleh ilmu pengetahuan tentang pemanfaatan kompor surya, berhasil merakit kompor surya, dan berhasil mengoperasikan langsung kompor surya. Pengabdian ini juga telah berhasil mengajak masyarakat dalam upaya pelestarian energi terbarukan yang sedang digalakkan oleh Pemerintah. Hasil monitoring diperoleh bahwa masyarakat merasa puas dengan kompor surya yang digunakan. Manfaat yang diperoleh langsung terasa, salah satunya adalah menghemat biaya khususnya masyarakat ekonomi lemah. Sedangkan hasil evaluasi perlu dibuat ulang kompor surya yang penggunanya tidak akan terkena sinar matahari langsung saat memasak.Abstract: The purpose of this service is to implement the use of solar cookers for the community in an effort to preserve renewable energy. The method used in this service consists of the preparation stage, the implementation stage, and the evaluation and monitoring stage. Partners in this service activity are fishing communities, womens totaling 32 people who live in Seunebok Baroh Village, Darul Aman, East Aceh. In the implementation of service, the community immediately practiced the use of solar cookers by frying crackers and eggs. From the results of the service, it was found that the community has gained knowledge about the use of solar cookers, succeeded in assembling solar cookers, and successfully operated solar cookers directly. This service has also succeeded in inviting the community to conserve renewable energy which is being promoted by the Government. The results of the monitoring show that the community is satisfied with the solar cooker used. The benefits are immediately felt, one of which is saving costs, especially for the economically weak community. While the results of the evaluation are that it is necessary to re-create a solar cooker whose users are not exposed to direct sunlight when cooking.

Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the efficiency of fish silage mixed in compounded diets on growth and survival rate of grouper (Epinephelus coioides). Grouper (2,34±0,24 cm, and 4,17±1,82 g) were divided into four groups and cultivated in 1x1x1,5 m floating net cages. Each group fed with compounded diets containing 0, 1, 3 and 5 g/kg fish silage diet twice daily. Fish were sampled for growth performances and feed efficiency at 14 days interval for 10 weeks. Results indicated that compounded diets at 1 and 3 g/kg silage affected the growth rate. Total length, specific growth rate and weight gain significantly increased in fish received 1 and 3 g/kg silage diets. The feed intake seen to be highest in groups administered 3 g/kg silage, whereas the best feed conversion ratio was found in fish fed 1 g/kg silage. Thus, this study indicated that using fish silage in compounded diets may affect feed efficiency and growth performances of grouper juveniles.Keywords:Artificial dietFeedingFish silageGrouperNet cages

Abstract

Pemanfaatan energi surya sebagian besar untuk pemanas air. Sistem pemanas air surya sudah umum digunakan namun masih memiliki beberapa hambatan sehingga selalu diperlukan penelitian untuk meningkatkan kinerja sistem pemanas air surya. Pada penelitian ini telah dirancang pemanas air surya yang dapat diandalkan untuk menyediakan air panas pada saat tidak tersedianya energi matahari atau sinar surya dalam jangka pendek. Pemanas air surya yang dirancang dan dibuat berukuran panjang 465 mm x 365 mm x 15 mm. Untuk meningkatkan kinerja sistem digunakan material penyimpan energi panas (PCM) diletakkan didalam kolektor surya yang berbentuk bola- bola. Material yang digunakan untuk penyimpan energi panas yaitu lilin lebah (beeswax). Pengujian sistem pemanas air surya dilakukan dilingkungan Fakultas Teknik Universitas Syiah Kuala dengan kondisi cuaca Kota Banda Aceh. Dari hasil pengujian ditunjukkan sistem pemanas air surya mampu mencapai 58 0C, penggunaan material penyimpan energi panas mampu menaikkan temperatur air yang telah diganti pada temperatur 40 0C selama 2-3 jam sedangkan radiasi surya dan temperatur ruang kaca mulai menurun. Dari hasil penelitian ini dapat disimpulkan bahwamenggunakan material berubah fasa (PCM) sebagai material penyimpan energi panas akan mampu meningkatkan dan mempertahankan kinerja sistem pemanas air surya.

Abstract

Sebagian besar aplikasi energi surya untuk pemanas udara. Meskipun, pemanas air surya sudah umum digunakan, penelitian untuk meningkatkan kinerja sistem selalu diperlukan. Pada penelitian ini telah dirancang satu pemanas air surya yang dapat diandalkan untuk menyediakan panas pada cuaca berawan atau saat disetujui sinar matahari dalam jangka pendek. Pemanas air surya yang dirancang dan dibuat adalah pemanas air surya tipe termoshipon dengan kolektor plat datar berkuran 160 cm x 100 cm x 10 cm. Untuk Meningkatkan kinerja sistem yang digunakan bahan penyimpan panas yang ditempatkan menyatu dalam kolektor. Pengujian sistem pemanas udara yang dilengkapi dengan bahan penyimpan panas dilakukan pada kondisi cuaca Kota Langsa. Dari hasil pengujian membuktikan sistem pemans udara mampu menaikkan suhu udara hingga 55 oC pada kondisi hari cerah. Pengguanan bahan penyimpan panas mampu mempertahankan suhu udara pada 35-45 o C sampai jam 20:00 malam, dari hasil penelitian ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa bahan penyimpan panas di kolektor akan mampu meningkatkan efisiensi sistem pemanas air surya.

Abstract

Along with the development of technology, the need for fossil energy for cooking purposes using conventional stoves is increasing. The limitations of fossil energy reserves that cannot be renewed have resulted in an energy crisis starting to hit. Solar energy is an energy source that is environmentally friendly and available free of charge. Solar energy is utilized using the system. Concentrating solar power (CSP) focuses solar radiation to a point to get a higher temperature. This type of box-type solar cooker has a long history dating back to the 18th century when Nicholas-de-Saussure first made this type of solar cooker. A parabolic solar cooker is a solar-powered stove that uses reflections from the sun's radiation which is concentrated directly on the pan. A trough solar cooker collects sunlight and reflects it to a focal point using a reflective film. A box-type solar cooker has an important part between the reflectors which use aluminum foil with a diameter of 41 cm and a thickness of 0.2 mm. The collector was made of brass copper for cooking with a diameter of 41 cm and a thickness of 0.2 mm. The parabolic type of solar cooker has important parts, including a collector that uses a parabola with a diameter of 140 cm and a depth of 40 cm and a reflector that uses a reflective film with an emissivity value of 0.91. The trough-type solar cooker performs better than the box and parabola types because it has a higher temperature where the ambient temperature is 25.5 ℃, the focal point temperature is 164℃, and the load temperature is 163℃.

Abstract

This village development program aims to develop Tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) cultivation using floating net cage system. The main target was tilapia production to increase income for community. This program was conducted for 6 months with the target of Pokdakan Sepakat Makmur located in the village of Alur Cucur. The main problems faced by the group were the lack of knowledge about tilapia cultivation techniques using floating net cage, aquaculture activities are still conventionally in earthen ponds. In addition, the capital stock is lacking, and financial administration records are still weak. The activities carried out include: training on fish rearing techniques, making floating net cages by partners who were accompanied by program implementers, cultivating tilapia in rivers using floating net cages, and distributing partner products. At the end of the activity, an evaluation of the implementation and sustainability of the program was carried out after completion of implementation activities.

Abstract

Tujuan dari pengabdian masyarakat ini adalah untuk memberdayakan petani pinang dengan tujuan mempercepat proses pengupasan pinang dan meningkatkan kinerja petani. Kegiatan pengabdian ini dilaksanakan di Gampong Tualang Dalam, Kecamatan Serbajadi, Kabupaten Aceh Timur, Provinsi Aceh. Salah satu permasalahan yang dihadapi oleh petani pinang adalah proses pengupasan buah pinang yang belum efisien dan masih menggunakan alat-alat sederhana seperti pisau. Oleh karena itu, tujuan dari kegiatan pengabdian ini adalah merancang dan membuat alat pengupas/pembelah buah pinang dengan menggunakan metode mekanis. Metode kegiatan pengabdian ini terdiri dari tahap persiapan, pelaksanaan, evaluasi, dan pemantauan. Kegiatan pengabdian ini melibatkan mahasiswa dan dosen, serta melibatkan kelompok mitra petani yang tergabung dalam kelompok tani pinang. Proses pembuatan alat mekanis ini dimulai dengan tahap perancangan, diikuti oleh pembuatan alat secara langsung yang melibatkan petani di desa tersebut. Selanjutnya, petani akan diajari cara menggunakan alat pengupas buah pinang ini. Alat ini digunakan dengan cara menekan buah pinang hingga terbelah menjadi dua. Setelah dibelah, buah pinang ditempatkan dalam wadah untuk diambil buah pinangnya. Hasil dari kegiatan pengabdian ini menunjukkan bahwa mitra petani pinang telah memperoleh pengetahuan tentang pembuatan dan penggunaan alat pengupas buah pinang, serta berhasil mengoperasikan alat tersebut. Pengabdian ini juga berhasil meningkatkan produktivitas kerja petani. Hasil pemantauan menunjukkan bahwa masyarakat puas dengan alat pengupas dan pembelah buah pinang ini karena mampu mempercepat kerja petani. Namun, hasil evaluasi menunjukkan perlunya pengembangan ulang untuk membuat mesin otomatis tanpa bantuan tenaga manusia.
