Abstract

This study aims to analyze students' science process skills through online assessments using the Rasch model analysis. The method used is quantitative through the analysis of the Rasch model. The data was collected using an online assessment with a test technique based on basic science process skills. The results showed that as many as 21 students (43.75%) had a KPS above or equal to the class average KPS and 12 students (25%) had high abilities in all aspects of basic KPS. In addition, as many as 27 students (56.25%) still have abilities below the class average and 15 (31.25%) still have abilities below the average test difficulty level. However, it can also be seen that 33 other students (68.75%) have a KPS ability above the average level of test difficulty. In conclusion, some basic process skills that need to be improved in students are observing, measuring, communicating and predicting skills. Abstract

Medicinal plants are natural sources of effective antimicrobials from natural products. Tithonia diversifolia (Asteraceae) is a conventional herb that can be used for the treatment of malaria, wounds, and other diseases with biological properties such as antioxidant, antimalarial, antidiabetic, antibacterial, and anti-hyperglycemic. Research on Tithonia diversifolia leaf extract as an antibacterial has been widely carried out. However, its use as a natural antibacterial is rarely studied, especially on flowers and roots. This study aimed to test the antibacterial activity of leaf, flower, and root extracts of the Tithonia diversifolia plant in various solvent fractions. The methods used in this research were Antibacterial Testing with Agar Diffusion and Direct Bioautography Methods, while the solvent fractions used were petroleum ether, chloroform, and ethyl acetate. The results showed that the crude extract of Tithonia diversifolia leaves, flowers, and roots for petroleum ether, chloroform, and ethyl acetate fractions contained antibacterial compounds. They could inhibit the growth of E. coli, P. aeruginosa, S. aureus, and B. subtilis bacteria, with inhibitory activity in chloroform fraction, which was better than in petroleum ether and ethyl acetate fractions. The results of the bioautography test showed that the inhibition was good on gram-positive bacteria with the highest number of spots in the chloroform fraction for the crude leaf and flower extract samples.

Abstract

COVID-19 has a low fatality rate but has developed into a pandemic due to its highly infectious nature. Nonetheless, COVID-19 fatality is increasing in patients with a history of comorbidities. Based on survey, it was concluded that the understanding of the residents of RT 02 RW 08 Dusun Rogomulyo, Semarang Regency regarding the comorbid COVID-19 was still lacking. In addition, there was the limited funds as problem among residents to carry out medical check-up regularly. Therefore, it was necessary to increase the understanding and detection of the comorbid COVID-19 presence in these community groups. This Community Service consists of four stages of activities, including survey, health education, free medical check -up, and data analysis. The free medical check-up produced the existing comorbid COVID-19 information in this community group as its activity output, namely cardiovascular disease, especially hypertension (51.1%) and cholesterol (20%). This information supports socialization activities and was able to foster understanding and awareness of citizens to better maintain their health conditions, especially related to the comorbidity of COVID-19.

Abstract

Proses pembelajaran biologi di SMAN 1 Sanggau Ledo pada materi keanekaragaman hayati belum digunakan bahan ajar yang memadai. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah pengembangkan modul yang berbasis kearifan lokal yang berhubungan dengan penggunaan tanaman dalam pengobatan masyakarat yang terkait dengan materi keanekaragaman hayati untuk kelas X SMAN 1 Sanggau Ledo dan menganalisis kelayakan serta efektivitasnya. Metode yang digunakan adalah penelitian pengembangan model pengembangan ADDIE yang terdiri dari 5 tahap yaitu, Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, dan Evaluation. Subjek penelitian 70 siswa kelas X SMAN I Sanggau Ledo yang terdiri dari dua kelas. Teknik pengumpul data yaitu wawancara, lembar angket, tes, dan dokumentasi. Teknik analisis data deskriptif kualitatif dan kuantitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa hasil validasi ahli materi sebesar 86,93% (sangat valid) dan ahli media sebesar 97,27%, (sangat valid). Secara deskriptif, dari hasil implementasi modul, siswa memperoleh rata-rata nilai sebesar 34,30 pada pre-test, sedangkan pada post-test siswa memperoleh rata-rata 82,36. Hasil uji Wilcoxon Signed Ranks didapat nilai Asymp. Sig. (2-tailed) yaitu 0,000 < 0,05, dinyatakan modul yang dikembangkan dengan pendekatan kearifan lokal efektif untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa

Abstract

Interview results showed that teachers still experience difficulties in carrying out educational action research, especially in developing instruments for collecting data and analize the results. Community Service in collaboration with 35 teachers who are members of the Biology Teacher Association (MGMP) of Semarang District as partners was carried out as an effort to resolve these problems. Community Service was carried out through three stages, namely preparation, training, and evaluation. The main stage of this program was carried out in the form of training using the lecture and discussion methods which are presented in three parts. The results of the questionnaire analysis at the end of the program showed that on average the majority of answers were agreed (as much as 60.7%) to various statements indicating an increase in partners' understanding and skills regarding educational action research. Therefore, it was concluded that the PkM program implemented succeeded in increasing partners' knowledge of the basic concepts of educational action research  preparation. The training provided has also improved the skills of teachers in carrying out and writing scientific papers resulting from educational action research.

Abstract

Saat ini, gerakan kampus hijau dan berkelanjutan mulai menjadi tren baru di berbagai universitas dalam dan luar negeri. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendapatkan gambaran kondisi paduk berdasarkan kriteria limbah (WS) dari UI GreenMetric di Universitas Kristen Satya Wacana (UKSW). Penelitian ini menggunakan kuesioner UI GreenMetric dan wawancara terhadap kepala-kepala direktorat dan laboratorium yang bertanggungjawab terhadap pengelolaan limbah di UKSW, termasuk pihak ketiga yang ditugasi untuk mengelola limbah. Hasil studi menunjukkan bahwa UKSW memiliki program kampus hijau untuk mewujudkan kampus yang ramah lingkungan, UKSW telah mengimplementasikan 3R yang terintegrasi dengan pengelolaan lingkungan kampus dalam rangka mewujudkan lingkungan kampus yang lebih hijau dan berkelanjutan. UKSW direkomendasikan agar ke depan dapat mengimplementasikan strategi-strategi ekonomi sirkuler dalam pengelolaan limbah sehingga dapat mencapai tujuan pengelolaan dan fungsi lingkungan kampus berkelanjutan.

Abstract

Abstrak: Hasil observasi menunjukkan keterampilan kolaboratif siswa di SMP Kristen 2 Salatiga kelas IX belum sepenuhnya masuk ke dalam kategori proficient (cakap) maupun exemplary (teladan). Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui pengaruh model pembelajaran TGT terhadap keterampilan kolaboratif serta analisis keterampilan kolaboratif siswa. Jenis penelitian deskriptif kuantitatif dengan metode penelitian adalah kuasi eksperimen. Subjek penelitian pada kelas IX SMP Kristen 2 Salatiga yang dipilih berdasarkan uji kesetaraan. Teknik analisis data menggunakan statistik inferensial. Berdasarkan uji wilcoxon terdapat pengaruh signifikan terhadap peningkatan keterampilan kolaboratif pada penerapan model pembelajaran TGT dengan p-value 0,000. Pada indikator bekerja secara produktif terdapat 96% siswa mencapai kategori exemplary, indikator menghargai siswa lain terdapat 88% siswa mencapai kategori exemplary, pada indikator berkompromi terdapat 92% siswa mencapai kategori exemplary, pada indikator bertanggungjawab terdapat 83% siswa mencapai kategori exemplary, dan pada indikator berkontribusi terdapat 75% siswa mencapai kategori exemplary. Persentase jumlah siswa terbanyak yang mencapai kualifikasi exemplary pada indikator kolaboratif bekerja secara produktif sebesar 96%. Kata kunci: keterampilan kolaboratif, model pembelajaran, Teams Games Tournament (TGT) Abstrack: The Observation result shown that collaboration skill of student in SMP Kristen 2 Salatiga year IX not entirely categorized as proficient or exemplary The research aims to determine the influence of the TGT learning model on the collaborative skills of ninth-grade students and analyze the collaborative skills of junior high school students. This is a quantitative descriptive research with a quasi-experimental research design. The research subjects are ninth-grade students at SMP Kristen 2 Salatiga, selected based on equivalence tests. Inferential statistics are used for data analysis. The Wilcoxon test shows a significant influence on the improvement of collaborative skills through the implementation of the TGT learning model, with a p-value of 0.000. In indicator of working productively, 96% of students reach the exemplary category; in indicator of respecting other students, 88% of students reach the exemplary category; in compromising indicator, 92% of students reach exemplary category; in responsible indicator, 83% of students reach the exemplary category, and in contributing indicator, 75% of students reach the exemplary category. The highest percentage of students qualifying as exemplary is 96%, observed in the collaborative working productively indicator. Abstract

Abstrak. Proses kegiatan pembelajaran ilmiah yang dilakukan oleh guru untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar dapat dilakukan dengan menggunakan Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK). Pelaksanaan penelitian pada siswa kelas XF yang berjumlah 34 siswa di SMA Negeri 2 Salatiga. Siswa menghadapi permasalahan yaitu adalah rendahnya hasil belajar dikarenakan proses pemberian materi hanya berbasis ceramah. Hasil wawancara dengan guru biologi di SMA Negeri 2 Salatiga pada materi Perubahan Lingkungan belum menerapkan sepenuhnya kegiatan laboratorium. Metode yang digunakan adalah pembelajaran Jelajah Alam Sekitar (JAS). Teknik pengumpulan data berupa wawancara, soal pre-test, post-test, dan dokumentasi. Analisis data menggunakan teknik deskriptif kualitatif dan deskriptif kuantitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan hasil belajar siswa dapat meningkat pada materi Perubahan Lingkungan (pre-test siklus 1 rerata nilai 42,9 menjadi 85,6 dan post-test dan siklus 2 nilai pre-test rerata nilai 44,1 menjadi 84,0). Abstract

Lake Rawa Pening is one of the natural resources with abundant local potential that can be utilized in the world of education and the surrounding community. The objectives of this study are: a) to determine the local potential of Lake Rawa Pening, and b) to determine the level of knowledge of junior high school students about Lake Rawa Pening related to local potential of the Lake in relation to science learning materials. The subjects of the study were grade IX junior high school students in eight schools around Lake Rawa Pening. Interviews and tests were used fordata collection technique. Data analysis were carried out by calculating students' scores and interpreting them into the minimum completion criteria (KKM) category by the Ministry of Education and Culture.  Based on the results of the study, it is known that there are twenty-four types of fish, one type of lobster, one type of shellfish, five types of birds, twenty types of plants, and two types of inanimate objects that are included in the local potential of Lake Rawa Pening. Based on the results of the study, the average value of junior high school students' knowledge about the local potential of Lake Rawa Pening in relation to science learning materials only reaches 63, which it is categorized as insufficient. It was found that students' knowledge in insufficient category is 77%, the sufficient category is 19%, the good category is 4%, and no students were found to have knowledge in the very good category.

Abstract

Penelitian tentang pengaruh penambahan eco-enzyme terhadap struktur komunitas alga perifiton bertujuan untuk menjawab salah satu alternatif penanganan pencemaran ekosistem perairan dengan memperhitungkan dampak negatif yang dapat dihasilkan seperti meledaknya populasi alga perifiton. Penelitian dilakukan di Laboratorium Akuakultur Fakultas Biologi, Universitas Kristen Satya Wacana, Salatiga. Waktu penelitian dilakukan mulai bulan Januari hingga Mei 2023. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode eksperimental, perifiton akan ditumbuhkan pada aquarium volume 4 L., dengan menggunakan enam pemberian eco-enzyme konsentrasi 0,5 ml/L, 1 ml/L, 2 ml/L, 4 ml/L, 8 ml/L, dan tanpa eco-enzyme sebagai kontrol, kemudian akan dilakukan pengamatan terhadap suhu, TDS, dan struktur komunitas alga perifiton. Hasil penelitian menunjukan ditemukan 5 jenis spesies alga perifiton. Kepadatan terendah alga perifiton ditemukan pada perlakuan eco-enzyme dam tertinggi pada kontrol, sedangkan berdasarkan indeks keanekaragaman dan keseragaman ditemukan rendah dengan nilai dibawah 1. Indeks dominansi nilainya mendekati 1, yang berarti terjadi dominansi oleh salah satu spesies alga perifiton yaitu Synedra ulna. Penambahan eco-enzyme pada konsentrasi yang tinggi dapat menghambat pertumbuhan alga perifiton. Research on the effect of adding eco-enzymes on the community structure of periphyton algae aims to answer one alternative for dealing with pollution of aquatic ecosystems by taking into account the negative impacts that can result, such as exploding populations of periphyton algae. The research was conducted at the Aquaculture Laboratory, Faculty of Biology, Satya Wacana Christian University, Salatiga. The time of the research was carried out from January to May 2023. The method used is an experimental method, periphyton will be grown in a 4 L volume aquarium, using six eco-enzyme concentrations of 0.5 ml/L, 1 ml/L, 2 ml/L. L, 4 ml/L, 8 ml/L, and without eco-enzyme as a control, then observations will be made on temperature, TDS, and periphyton algae community structure. The research results showed that 5 types of periphyton algae species were found. The lowest density of periphyton algae was found in the Eco-enzyme treatment and the highest was in the control, whereas based on the diversity and uniformity index it was found to be low with a value below 1. The dominance index value was close to 1, which means that there was dominance by one species of periphyton algae, namely Synedra ulna. The addition of eco-enzyme at high concentrations can inhibit the growth of periphyton algae.
