Abstract

This research explores the use of Wordwall.net as an instructional tool to enhance the vocabulary proficiency of seventh-grade students at SMP Al Azhar 3 Bandar Lampung. Utilizing a quantitative approach with a one-group pre-test and post-test design, the study involved 30 students from class VII C, chosen through cluster random sampling. The instruments used were vocabulary assessments administered before and after the treatment, targeting content words such as nouns, verbs, adjectives, and adverbs. Results from the paired sample t-test revealed a notable improvement in students' vocabulary scores, with the average score rising from 55.78 on the pre-test to 82.56 on the post-test, reflecting a mean gain of 26.78. The calculated t-value (21.492) exceeded the critical value (2.045), and the significance level (p = 0.000) was well below 0.05. All vocabulary components showed significant gains, with the most substantial improvements observed in adjectives and nouns, increasing by 7.72 and 11.4 points respectively. These results demonstrate that Wordwall.net is an effective platform for enhancing vocabulary skills among junior high school learners.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the improvement of students’ speaking achievement and their perceptions toward the implementation of integrated Think–Pair–Share (TPS) and Three-Step Interview (TSI). The research employed a one-group pretest–posttest design involving 30 ninth-grade students at SMPN 4 Metro. Instruments included a speaking test (pretest and posttest) and a perception questionnaire. Data were analyzed using a paired sample t-test and descriptive analysis. The results showed a significant improvement in students’ speaking scores from a pretest mean of 84.80 to a posttest mean of 89.40 (p < 0.05). Furthermore, students’ perceptions toward the TPS–TSI were positive with overall mean = 3.86, with the Target and Situation dimensions receiving the highest means, 3.94. These findings suggest that the integration of TPS–TSI not only enhances speaking skills but also fosters a supportive learning environment aligned with students’ future goals.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effectiveness of the PRAAT application in improving students' pronunciation, focusing on close mid vowels, plosive consonants, and fricative consonants. Pre-test and post-test data were collected from 50 participants to evaluate changes in pronunciation after the intervention using PRAAT. The average spectrum deviation in the pre-test was 24.5%, which decreased to 14.3% in the post-test, with a total gain of 10.2%. This significant reduction indicates an improvement in pronunciation, approaching the standard of native speakers in the analyzed phoneme categories. Statistical analysis revealed a significant change with a p-value < 0.001, affirming that PRAAT plays a crucial role in enhancing students' pronunciation quality. These findings provide empirical evidence that PRAAT is effective as a tool for improving the pronunciation of specific phonemes in language learning and recommend its broader application in educational contexts.
