Abstract

Tingkat kesegaran ikan dapat mempengaruhi kualitas dan nutrisi ikan. Pemasaran ikan tongkol segar yang dipasarkan di Pasar Bumiayu, Kabupaten Brebes kurang memperhatikan penanganan, sehingga dapat menurunkan kualitas dan nutrisi ikan tongkol segar. Tingkat kesegaran  ikan dapat diidentifikasi atau dinilai secara organoleptik. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui tingkat kesegaran ikan tongkol segar di Pasar Bumiayu. Metode penelitian ini dengan pengambilan sampel ikan tongkol pada pukul 06.00; 09.00; dan 12.00 WIB, selanjutnya diidentifikasi kesegarannya secara organoleptik dan pengujian pH ikan segar. Pengambilan sampel dilakukan selama 3 minggu yaitu tanggal 14 September 2022; 28 September 2022; dan 12 Oktober 2022. Analisa data menggunakan analisa deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahawa ikan tongkol masih dikategorikan segar pada pengambilan sampel di pukul 06.00 hingga 09.00; sedangkan pada pukul 12.00 ikan sudah mengalami proses kemunduran mutu. Nilai organoleptik rata-rata diantara 8,33 hingga 3,67. Berdasarkan SNI ikan segar SNI 2729:2013, nilai organoleptik ikan segar adalah 7. pH daging ikan tongkol diperoleh sebesar 5,56 hingga 6,11. pH merupakan indikator tingkat kemunduran mutu ikan. Semakin tinggi nilai pH menunjukkan bahwa terjadi aktivitas mikroorganisme pembusuk dalam tubuh ikan.   The level of fish freshness can affect the quality and nutrition of fish. The marketing of fresh little tuna which is marketed in Bumiayu Traditional Market, Brebes Regency less attention to fish handling, it can reduce the quality and nutrition of fresh eastern little tuna. The level of fish freshness can be identified or assessed organoleptic test. The purpose of this study was to determine the level of fish freshness of fresh little tuna in the Bumiayu Market organoleptically. This research method by taking little tuna samples at 06.00am; 09.00am; and 12.00pm WIB, then the freshness was identified organoleptically and tested the pH of fresh fish. Sampling was carried out for 3 weeks, namely September 14, 2022; September 28, 2022; and October 12, 2022. Data analysis used descriptive analysis. The results of the 3-week study showed that tuna was still categorized as fresh when sampling at 06.00 to 09.00; while at 12.00 the fish had experienced a decline in quality. The average organoleptic value is between 8.33 and 3.67. Based on SNI fresh fish SNI 2729:2013, the organoleptic value of fresh fish is 7. The pH of little tuna meat is obtained from 5.56 to 6.11. pH is an indicator of the level of decrease in fish quality. The higher the pH value indicates that there is activity of decomposing microorganisms in fish body.

Abstract

Fish is a source of animal protein that all levels of society can accept. This protein's benefits will be obtained optimally if the fish's quality remains in the excellent category. A preservation method such as freezing and salting is needed to maintain the excellent quality of fish. This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of preservation by freezing and salting on milkfish (C.chanos) quality. The research implementation time was 15-17 July 2019. Some of the treatments used were milkfish (C.chanos) without salting (control), 20% salting, 30% salting, 40% salting, and just freezing. An organoleptic test with a scoring method was conducted to determine the quality of the fish. Number 1 was the lowest value, while number 9 was the highest. The scoring results were then analyzed descriptively. The observations showed that the freezing method gives the best results, following the 40% salting method, 30%, and 20% salting. The lowest results were obtained in control fish (without treatment).

Abstract

One of unique biota that lives in Cilacap Mangrove Forest Tourism area is mangrove clam Geloina erosa. Many of these clams are fishing targets by the local community. The clams would be either sold to the market or consumed directly. This study aims to determine the density and distribution pattern of G. erosa in Cilacap Mangrove Forest Tourism area waters, and was conducted in May-June 2021. The research method used was direct observation in the field with purposive sampling technique. There are 3 sampling stations, each of which is observed once every week for 3 weeks. The results shows that the density of G. erosa was 301 ind/m2, 15 ind/m2 and 4 ind/m2 at stations 1, 2, and 3 respectively. The distribution pattern of G. erosa at each observation station was a clustered distribution.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the diversity of zooplankton and its connection to the quality of the mangrove waters of Segara Anakan Lagoon, Cilacap. This research was conducted from July to September 2021. The data was collected using a survey method with purposive random sampling, where the research stations were selected based on certain criteria and zooplankton samples were collected from 3 observation stations. Sampling was carried out at low tide. Zooplankton was collected using plankton net. The results showed that the types and diversity of zooplankton found in the mangrove waters of Laguna Segara Anakan Cilacap consisted of four phyla which were annelids, arthropods, protozoa, and rotifers. Only one genus found from the phylum annelids, namely polychaeta. There were six arthropods genera consisting of daphnia, microstela, nauplius, euterfina, diaphanossoma, and oithona. The phylum Protozoa consists of one genus, astramoeba, while the phylum rotifera consists of two genera, Branchionus and Notholca. The abundance of zooplankton at Stations 1, 2, and 3 were 1.61 ind/l, 1.84 ind/l, and 1.41 ind/l, respectively. Zooplankton diversity is influenced by aquatic environmental conditions such as air temperature, water temperature, dissolved oxygen, water pH, salinity, and TSS.

Abstract

Segara Anakan is a lagoon surrounded by swamp forest with a mud substrate. Several biota live in it, one of which is Gastropods. This biota has slow movements and is relatively sedentary. The aim of research on gastropod biodiversity is to describe the diversity and dominance of their species. The research was conducted in July-September 2021. The research method used was a survey with a purposive random sampling technique at three stations taking into account differences in vegetation community structure. Station 1 (St 1) is in the eastern part of Segara Anakan with vegetation that dominates Aegiceras corniculatum; Station 2 (St 2) is in the middle of Segara Anakan with vegetation that dominates Nypa fruticans; Station 3 (St 3) is in the western part of Segara Anakan with vegetation dominating Sonneratia alba. Each station is determined by nine different sampling points once every month. The results showed that the Potamididae and Neritidae families were most commonly found at all stations during the study. The highest abundance is found in St 3, namely 1433 ind/m2, the lowest in St 1, namely 545 ind/m2. The diversity index in the medium category is at St 1 (1.05) and St 3 (1.59), while the low category is at St 2 (0.85). The dominance index in the medium category is at St 2 (0.55), and in the low category at St 1 (0.47) and St 3 (0.28). Factors that influence differences in abundance, diversity and dominance are adaptation, food and environmental conditions in which they live.

Abstract

Ecologically, the mangrove ecosystem acts as a spawning ground, nursery ground and feeding ground for various organisms. One of the biota located in the Segara Anakan mangrove ecosystem is Gastropods. This fauna plays an important role in food webs and decomposition processes. The Segara Anakan mangrove forest has undergone changes due to natural factors (sedimentation) and anthropogenic factors. If this is ignored, of course, it will affect the distribution pattern and habitat preferences. The purpose of this study was to determine the composition, abundance, distribution and habitat preferences of gastropods in the mangrove forest of Segara Anakan, Cilacap. The study was conducted in AugustOctober 2022 with a sampling period of once every two weeks. The sampling method used is purposive sampling. Two locations were selected based on different characteristics, namely: St A (eastern part of Segara Anakan, salinity 10-20 , density of mangrove Rhizophora sp. dense, close to the port) and St B (western part of Segara Anakan, salinity 5-10‰, mangrove density Rhizophora sp. is rare, close to residential areas). At each research station, five sampling points were determined, each point contained three sampling plots. The data obtained were analyzed by PCA (Principal Component Analysis). Based on the results of the research, there were 8 families of gastropod communities in St A and 6 families in St B. The most dominating families at the two observation stations were Potamididae and Neritidae. The highest abundance was found in St B at 290 ind/m2, while St A reached 180 ind/m2. The distribution pattern of gastropods is included in the grouping and even distribution criteria. From the results of PCA Gastropod analysis, it is closely related to dissolved oxygen content. This is related to the role of oxygen in the fulfillment of respiration and decomposition of organic matter.Keywords: Gastropods, Mangroves, Distribution patterns, Habitat preferences, Segara Anakan

Abstract

Laguna Segara Anakan (LSA) Cilacap yang terletak di antara Jawa dan Nusakambangan, Jawa Tengah, merupakan habitat yang baik bagi biota makrozoobentos. Habitat tersebut dicirikan dengan sedimen pasir, debu dan liat. Identifikasi dan analisis keanekaragaman makrozoobentos penting untuk menentukan kondisi ekosistem. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui jenis tekstur sedimen dan untuk mengetahui kualitas perairan dengan menerapkan bioindikator menggunakan makrozoobentos. Metode yang digunakan yaitu survei dan penggambilan sampel secara acak dilakukan pada saat mengambil sampel sedimen dan makrozoobentos pada 12 titik penenilitian menggunkaan hand packing dengan bantuan cetok. Pengambilan sampel dilakukan pada bulan September – November 2023. Untuk mengetahui pengaruh tekstur sedimen terhadap FBI makrozoobentos dianalisis secara regresi. Hasil penelitian tekstur sedimen fraksi pasir berkisar 1,09-1,7%; fraksi debu berkisar 31,43-48,31% dan fraksi liat berkisar 50,6-67,17%. FBI makrozoobentos berkisar antara 7,097-7,399 yang berarti kondisi perairan di LSA Cilacap dalam kategori buruk – sangat buruk. Tekstur sedimen fraksi pasir terhadap FBI makrozoobentos memiliki pengaruh yang sangat kuat dengan nilai regresi 0,916 sedangkan tekstur sedimen fraksi liat (R = 0,223) dan debu (R = 0,198) memiliki pengaruh yang lemah terhadap FBI makrozoobentos.    Segara Anakan Lagoon (LSA) Cilacap, which is located between Java and Nusakambangan, Central Java, is a good habitat for macrozoobenthic biota. This habitat is characterized by sand, dust and clay sediments. Identification and analysis of macrozoobenthos diversity is important for determining ecosystem conditions. The aim of this research is to determine the type of sediment texture and to determine water quality by applying bioindicators using macrozoobenthos. The method used was a survey and random sampling carried out when taking sediment and macrozoobenthos samples at 12 research points using hand packing with the help of a spat. Sampling was carried out in September – November 2023. To determine the effect of sediment texture on the macrozoobenthos FBI, it was analyzed using regression. The results of the sediment texture research, the sand fraction ranged from 1.09-1.7%; the dust fraction ranges from 31.43-48.31% and the clay fraction ranges from 50.6-67.17%. The FBI macrozoobenthos ranges from 7,097-7,399, which means that the water conditions in the Cilacap LSA are in the bad – very bad category. The sand fraction sediment texture on macrozoobenthos FBI had a very strong influence with a regression value of 0.916, while the clay fraction sediment texture (R = 0.223) and dust (R = 0.198) had a weak influence on macrozoobenthos FBI.

Abstract

Segara Anakan Mangrove Forest in Cilacap is one of the most extensive mangrove forests on the southern coast of Java Island. This study aims to determine the level of herbivory and environmental conditions. The sampling technique used was purposive random sampling, which considered the different characteristics of the vegetation. Sonneratia caseolaris dominated Station 1, while Station 2 was more diverse, including Avicennia marina, Avicennia alba, Rhizophora mucronata, Sonneratia caseolaris, and Aegiceras corniculatum. Each station is spread over three points, each with five sampling plots, representing the distribution and zonal homogeneity of carrying capacity. The research was conducted in May, August, and November 2023, based on the different temporal seasons in Indonesia. The results showed biotic factors from herbivory activity and abiotic factors such as the hydrological cycle caused mangrove leaf damage. The class of leaf damage caused by herbivory at all observation stations was mainly in class I (<2.5%). The most leaf damage was found in old leaves, which is related to the optimal photosynthesis process producing carbohydrates as a food source for herbivores. Additionally, tannin content in the leaves plays a role in protection from excessive UV radiation during the dry season. This condition indicates that Segara Anakan mangrove forest is still in good condition. PCA analysis results show that mangrove leaf damage is closely related to the age of the leaves.

Abstract

Mangrove litter is a critical component of the nutrient cycle, reflecting soil fertility and water quality within the mangrove ecosystem. This study investigates the dynamics of litter productivity in the Segara Anakan mangrove forest in Cilacap. The study area is divided into two locations with three points, with five litter traps installed at each point. Sonneratia caseolaris dominates vegetation characteristics at Station 1, while Station 2 has more diverse vegetation, including Sonneratia caseolaris, Aegiceras corniculatum, Acanthus ilicifolius, Derris trifoliata, Rhizophora mucronata, Avicennia alba, and Avicennia marina. Sampling follows seasonal changes in Indonesia, covering June 2023 to March 2024. The primary data for this study include aboveground litterfall production, estimated using litter traps, and the litter layer on the forest floor collected through soil transects. Secondary data comprise weather measurements, including air temperature, rainfall, wind speed, and humidity. Litterfall and litter layer were collected four times: June (dry season), September (transition from dry to rainy season), December (rainy season), and March (transition from rainy to dry season). The results indicate a total litter productivity of 18.99 tonnes ha-1 yr-1. The lowest litter production was observed in September, while the highest was in March. Leaf litter contributed the most, accounting for 71.49%, followed by twigs at 19.19%, flowers/fruits at 8.31%, stipules at 0.62%, and the lowest portion from other unidentified materials at 0.39%. Litter productivity shows a strong correlation (0.99) with rainfall. The main factors influencing litter productivity include environmental factors, primarily rainfall, and physiological factors, such as flowering and fruiting phenology.

Abstract

This research was aims to determine the effect of coconut shell liquid smoke application on the smoking process on the physicochemical quality of smoked catfish stored at freezing temperature for 14 days. The test parameters used were proximate analysis (protein, fat, and water content), salt-soluble protein, pH, texture (adhesion, springness, cohesiveness, hardness). Analysis of the data in this experiment using a completely randomized design with different storage time treatments (0 days; 7 days; and 14 days) at freezing temperatures. The results of the analysis of variance showed that the application of coconut shell liquid smoke to smoked catfish gave a significant difference (P <0.05) to the physicochemical quality including proximate, salt-soluble protein, pH, and texture. During storage, there was a decrease in the proximate value and salt soluble protein of smoked catfish, while the pH value increased. Meanwhile, texture, adhesion, springiness, and cohesiveness values decreased along with the decreasing proximate value of smoked catfish, and the hardness value showed an increase during storage resulting in a harder texture of fish meat due to protein denaturation.Keywords: Coconut shell liquid smoke; Frozen storage; Physicochemical quality; Smoked catfish nutritional
