Abstract

This study aims to determine feasibility of broiler production based on local food with variations in calcium and phosphorus; and knowing difference feasibility of the business it gets. This research was conducted at farmer's cage in Sasi Village, Kefamenanu for 2 months (July-August, 2020). A total of 96 broiler day old chick (DOC) were used in this study. Research was conducted with an experimental method using a completely randomized design consisting of 4 treatments and 4 replications. Each replication consisted of 6 broiler chickens aged 1 day. Parameters observed were body weight, feed cost efficiency, sales price, and business feasibility. Data on body weight, feed cost and selling price of chickens were analyzed by Analysis of Variance (Anova) and Duncan's test, while business feasibility was analyzed by using B / C ratio. The results showed that the highest body weight, feed cost and selling price were found in P3. There is a feed cost efficiency at P3 and P2 compared to P1 and P0 (P <0.05), and highest revenue is at P3. Treatment with 2.0% calcium and 0.5% phosphorus (P3) supplementation be a highest economic feasibility. In addition, variation in treatment provides a significant difference in cost and selling value. Use of local feed of yellow maize and bran with calcium and phosphorus supplementation could reduce costs of broiler production.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji efektivitas ekstrak hipofisa sapi (EHS) terhadap produktivitas ayam petelurtipehisex brown periode afkir. Penelitian ini menggunakan 60 ekor ayam petelur tipe hisex brown yang berumur 88 minggu dengan berat badan 2,01 ± 8,30 kg. Ayam-ayam tersebut diacak dengan rancangan acak lengkap ke dalam lima grup dan diinjeksi EHS dengan konsentrasi:  0; 7,5; 15; 22,5 atau 30 mg/kg bobot badan. Injeksi dilakukan secara intramuskuler pada otot dada dengan frekuensi satu kali per minggu. Masing-masing perlakuan diulang empat kali, dengan tiga ekor ayam pada setiap ulangan. Data penelitian dianalisis dengan sidik ragam dan dilanjutkan denganuji Duncan. Hasilpenelitian menunjukkan bahwa injeksi EHS tidak mampu meningkatkan produksi telur, konversi pakan, indeks telur, indeks putih telur, indeks kuning telur, haugh unit, dan tebal kerabang (p>0,05), menurunkan bobot telur dan konsumsi pakan (p<0,05), dan meningkatkan indeks warna kuning telur (p<0,05). Disimpulkan bahwa injeksi EHS tidak efektif untuk meningkatkan produktivitas ayam petelur tipe hisex brown periode afkir.Kata kunci :ekstrak hipofisa sapi, hisex brown, produktivitas, period eafkir

Abstract

Objective: Calcium and phosphorus are macrominerals that are needed for metabolism and mineralization of chicken bones. This study aims to determine the growth performance and tibial profile of broiler chicken strain CP 707 which are fed by using different calcium-phosphorus balance compositions.Methods: This research was conducted in Kefamenanu, the East Nusa Tenggara for 42 days. A total of 96 day old chicks were used in this study. Chickens were allocated in 16 units of cages, based on a completely randomized design consisting of 4 treatments and 4 replications. The treatments given were T0 (control feed without calcium-phosphorus supplementation), T1 (control feed + 1.0% calcium + 0.5% phosphorus), T2 (control feed + 1.5% calcium + 0.5% phosphorus) and T3 (control feed + 2.0% calcium + 0.5% phosphorus).Results: The findings showed that the calcium-phosphorus ratio affected weight gain, feed conversion, carcass weight, tibial bone weight, tibial bone dry weight and tibial bone ash content (P<0.05), while feed consumption and tibial bone length were not significant. The highest body weight was in T3 (2142.25±31.84 g/bird) with a weight gain of 62.41±2.20 g/bird/day. The best feed conversions at T2 and T3 were 1.94±0.33 and 1.85±0.70. The highest carcass weight at T3 was 1354.45±39.12 g/bird with a carcass percentage of 63.20±0.32%. The highest tibial weight at T2 and T3 were 18.57±0.73 and 19.43±0.66 g/bird with dry weight of 40.61±0.75 and 41.42±1.33%. The highest tibial bone ash content was at T3, namely 44.72±0.91%.Conclusions: The conclusion of this study is that the balance of 2.0% calcium and 0.5% phosphorus provides optimal growth performance and tibial profile.

Abstract

Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat yang dilaksanakan pada Kelompok Tani Bon-bon bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pemahaman dan keterampilan mitra dalam memanfaatkan limbah jerami padi sebagai pakan ternak pada musim kemarau. Pada musim penghujan ketersedian pakan melimpah dan ternak dilepas secara bebas untuk mencari pakan sendiri, tetapi pada musim kemarau ketersedian pakan sangat kurang sehingga peternak hanya memberikan sisa limbah sawah berupa batang padi yang sudah kering sebagai pakan. Kurangnya pemahaman pengolahan limbah padi menjadi pakan ternak yang berkualitas menyebabkan sebagian petani membakar limbah padi sebagai persiapan musim tanam berikutnya, sedangkan sebagian petani yang lain hanya mengambil dan memberikan begitu saja limbah padi tanpa melalui proses pengolahan. Akibatnya pemenuhan kebutuhan hidup pokok ternak tidak terpenuhi sehingga memperlambat laju pertambahan bobot badan ternak. Metode yang digunakan dalam kegiatan ini yaitu metode participatory action research. Hasil yang diperoleh secara fisik terhadap amoniasi jerami padi memiliki nilai nutrisi PK 5,11%. Jerami padi dalam bentuk amoniasi yang dihasilkan ialah sebanyak 100 Kg. Selama kegiatan pendampingan dilangsungkan mitra secara antusias  menyediakan sumber daya pakan dan  menginisiasi pengolahan limbah jerami padi pasca panen sebagai pakan ternak. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa kegiatan penerapan teknologi amoniasi jerami padi di Kelompok Tani Bon-bon dikategorikan berhasil dimana kelompok sasaran mampu mengatasi masalah secara mandiri.

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian ini telah dilaksanakan pada kelompok tani Bilubahan Desa Tapenpah Kecamatan Insana. Tujuan dari pelaksanaan kegiatan pelatihan pembuatan pakan amoniasi jerami padi untuk mengatasi permasalahan kekurangan pakan pada kelompok tani Bilubahan, Desa Tapenpah, Kecamatan Insana. Para petani peternak belum mengetahui cara pengolahan jerami padi sebagai pakan ternak. Sehingga perlu pelatihan pembuatan amoniasi jerami padi. Pelatihan pembuatan amoniasi jerami dilakukan dengan beberapa tahap yakni Penyuluhan dan demostrasi. Kegiatan pelatihan pembuatan amoniasi jerami padi berjalan dengan lancar. Para Peternak pada kelompok tadi sangat antusias dalam kegiatan pelatihan pembuatan amoniasi jerami padi. Hasil yang diperoleh dari pelatihan pembuatan amoniasi jerami adalah para peternak dapat memahami cara pembuatan amoniasi jerami padi dan ternak memiliki tingkat kesukaan yang tinggi terhadap pakan amoniasi jerami padi.

Abstract

Tujuan kegiatan pengabdian ialah meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan mahasiswa dalam pelaksanaan Inseminasi Buatan (IB) pada ternak babi di kalangan peternakan rakyat dan Unit Pelaksana Teknis-Intalasi Tarus, Dinas Peternakan Provinsi Nusa Tenggara Timur. Metode yang digunakan ialah magang melalui demonstrasi dilapangan secara berulang yakni melakukan pengamatan siklus birahi dan mempraktekkan teknologi Inseminasi buatan pada ternak babi Duroc dan upaya pemecahan masalah yang terjadi di lapangan. Mahasiswa memiliki pengalaman, pengetahuan dan keterampilan inseminasi buatan pada ternak babi pada bidang bioteknologi reproduks ternaki. Peningkatan keterampilan dan keahlian mahasiswa dalam inseminasi buatan dapat dicapai melalui program magang secara terjadwal dan berkelanjutan, guna menghasilkan tenaga inseminator yang terampil dalam mendukung perkembangbiakan ternak babi

Abstract

This research aims to measure the quality of semen and morphology of spermatozoa cells in male goats as a basis for making frozen semen. The increase in the goat population in North Central Timor Regency is still relatively low. The rearing system carried out by the community is still traditional and the goat farming business is used as a side business with livestock ownership ranging from 5-10 heads with 1-2 males. The limited number of male peanut goats greatly limits livestock breeding, so efforts need to be made to groom goat semen in the form of frozen semen. Before freezing semen, it is necessary to know the characteristics of peanut goat semen which are related to the quality of the fresh semen produced as a condition for making frozen semen. Semen collection is carried out 5 times at intervals once a week in the morning using an artificial vagina. The results of macroscopic evaluation of spermatozoa showed that the average volume of semen ejaculated was 0.7 mL ± 0.06; the color is yellowish cream, has a typical smell of peanut goat farming, the consistency is thick, average pH: 6.647 ± 0.11. Meanwhile, microscopically, the mass motility value is: +++ (good), individual motility value: 85% ± 3.07, viability value: 82.5% ± 2.51, concentration: 1.763 x 109/mL ± 0.30 and abnormalities spermatozoa: 11.5 ± 2.16. Results of measurements of spermatozoa cell morphology in male Peanut goats mean head length 7.17 ± 0.65 μm, head width 4.11 ± 0.60 μm, tail length 33.82 ± 3.77 μm and total length of spermatozoa cells 40.99 ± 4 .42 μm . The results of this study can be concluded that male Timor bean goats have high spermatozoa quality and good spermatozoa cell morphometry to be continued in the retail and semen freezing stages.

Abstract

Penentuan harga ternak sapi bali yang dilakukan peternak di kelompok tani Bon-Bon selama ini berdasarkan pengamatan visual terhadap fisik sapi dengan kisaran harga jual Rp. 4.000.000 – Rp. 4.500.000. Ketika dilakukan pengukuran morfometrik (Panjang badan 108 Cm dan lingkar dada 150 Cm) memperoleh  data dugaan bobot hidup = 197,2 Kg. Apabila bobot hidup dikalikan dengan standart harga yakni 27.000 per Kg bobot hidup maka harga jual sapi tersebut seharusnya Rp. 5.325.707. Proses penentuan harga berdasarkan pengamatan fisik ini mengakibatkan peternak mengalami kehilangan potensi pendapatan sebesar Rp. 825.707 -Rp.1.325.707. Kondisi ini sangat merugikan peternak di pedesaan, dimana peternak belum mengetahui teknik penetuan harga berdasarkan bobot badan hidup ternak, belum mengetahui teknik pengukuran morfometrik ternak sapi, standart harga jual bobot hidup ternak sapi yang ditetapkan pemerintah Nusa Tenggara Timur. Sosialisi standart harga jual bobot hidup ternak yang ditetapkan pemerintah dan pelatihan teknik pengukuran morfometrik sapi, pembuatan matriks penentuan harga berdasarkan bobot hidup ternak serta pembuatan kandang jepit, diharapkan dapat meningkatkan pengetahuan peternak dalam pendugaan bobot hidup ternak, mengubah proses penentuan harga jual ternak agar meningkatkan pendapatan peternak. Hasil yang dicapai ialah peternak memiliki pengetahuan tentang standar harga jual per Kg bobot hidup dan keterampilan mengukur morfometrik tubuh untuk menghitung bobot badan ternak, tersedianya 15 buah alat ukur morfometrik, 15 unit kandang jepit dan 15 buku matriks harga jual ternak sapi berdasarkan hasil dugaan bobot hidup yang dikalikan dengan standar harga yang ditetap pemerintah. Disimpulkan bahwa dasar penentuan harga jual ternak sapi yang dilakukan peternak berdasarkan hasil dugaan bobot hidup dikalikan dengan harga/Kg/BB.

Abstract

The aim of this research was to determine the effect of supplementation of L-isoleucine in feed on the reproductive organ profile of Native chickens at the pullet phase. This research was carried out from April to July 2023 at Sasi Village, Kota Kefamenanu Sub-District, North Central Timor Regency. A total of 100 Native chickens aged 6 weeks with an average weight of 400 g were used in this study. The research method used was a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) consisting of 5 treatments and 5 replications. Each replication consisted of 4 Native chickens. The treatments given were T0 (feed without L-isoleucine), T1 (T0 + 0.05% L-isoleucine), T2 (T0 + 0.15% L-isoleucine), T3 (T0 + 0.25% L-isoleucine), and T4 (T0 + 0.35% L-isoleucine). The variables observed were the weight of the ovaries, the distance between the 2 pubic bones, the distance between the pubic bone and the sternum, testicular weight and testicular volume. The data obtained were analyzed using analysis of variance and Duncan's test. The results showed that the ovarian weight for T0, T1, T2, and T3 and T4 were 1.14 ± 0.18; 1.43±0.12; 2.26±0.53; 1.76 ± 0.34 and 1.33 ± 0.27 g/head, respectively. The distance between the 2 pubic bones were 21.04 ± 0.49; 22.70±0.61; 25.40±0.82; 23.90 ± 0.46 and 22.08 ± 0.63 mm/head, respectively. The distance between the pubic bone and the sternum were 31.82 ± 1.93; 33.60±1.10; 37.04±2.36; 33.76 ± 1.27 and 31.56 ± 0.93 mm/head, respectively. Testicular weight were 5.56 ± 0.42; 6.15±1.48; 7.58±0.47; 6.80 ± 0.43 and 6.16 ± 0.40 g/head, respectively. Testicular volume were 5.04 ± 0.55; 5.82±0.41; 7.14 ± 0.50; 6.58 ± 0.47 and 6.06 ± 0.28 mL/head, respectively. Statistical analysis showed that treatment had a significant effect on ovary weight, the distance between the 2 pubic bones, the distance between the pubic bone and the sternum, testicular weight and testicular volume in Kampung chickens (P<0.05). It was concluded that the use of 0.15% L-isoleucine in feed gave the best results on ovary weight, distance between 2 pubic bones, distance between pubic bone and breast bone, testicular weight and testicular volume in pullet phase Native chickens.
