The method of data collection with the technique of convenience sampling and snowball sampling. Methods of sampling was done through indepth interview in supply chain. By calculating its price transmission elasticity on the soybean marketing channels, the ratio of concentration in tier collectors and traders. The result of the calculation of the price transmission elasticity values obtained the highest value on channel 4 with the marketing value 2,509. The average ratio of the concentration of the middleman 0,8501, and tier 0,94554 merchant. So these values indicate that the most efficient marketing channel with an effective demand is marketing channel 4 is composed of farmers, farmers group, and tofu/tempeh industries.

Abstract

Rice is a vital commodity in Indonesia because it is the main staple food for most Indonesian people.  Balancing supply and demand of rice in Indonesia is complex and has possibly led to polemics, even though the production of rice in Indonesia tends to increase. An analysis of the supply-demand for rice commodity is, therefore, necessary as an effort to improve the national rice condition along with the logistics and supply chain point of view. This study aims to analyze the supply chain risk management of rice to provide recommendations on improving rice supply chain performance on each tier. This study was undertaken at Demak and Sleman Districts, Indonesia. In-depth interviews were used to enrich the information from the respondents along the supply chain. In this study, tiers on the supply chain of rice mainly consists of farmers, collectors who also acts as traders, and retailers. Meanwhile, the role of government is represented by The Indonesia Logistics Bureau (BULOG). The different supply chain pattern could be identified from the role of middleman in each province. This study uses ISO 31000:2009 standard for analyzing the risk in each tier along the supply chain. Based on the risk analysis, on-farm activity plays a vital role in transferring risk along the supply chain in terms of quality and quantity. Risk mitigation of each tier was explored in this study.

Abstract

The problems associated with rice production in Indonesia appear very complicated, due to poor management of the sufficient national rice stock and various unfavorable public policies. Recently, government’s directives on rice importation instigated polemics from several interests, as a result of inappropriate decisions on general rice production, with possible yearly increment. Therefore, there is need to embrace strategy development to balance demand and supply. The purpose of this study was to analyze the rice supply chain in Demak and Sukoharjo, Central Java Province, in an effort to provide effective and collaborative distribution policies at individual levels. In addition, in-depth interviews were conducted for 98 respondents in a bid to acquire relevant and current information for the conceptual framework development. Furthermore, sampling methodologies, termed purposive and snowballing, were applied, followed by the preparation of interview guidelines. The results showed the farmers obtained the lowest revenue margin among other tiers, while several technical challenges were also identified. Consequently, the activities of middlemen with excessive dominant roles in market price determination, were overemphasized, leading to an inefficient supply chain. Meanwhile, government’s position through the Indonesia Logistics Bureau (BULOG) is assumed to be vulnerable in the control of direct supply from farmers or collectors. Based on this study, intense comprehension of rice supply chain was achieved, with further provision of collaborative strategies towards promoting the balance of demand and supply.

Abstract

Cocoa in North Luwu Regency is contributing greatly to the improvement of the economy. However, different factors have caused a decrease in the amount of production since 2019 and farmers mostly sell cocoa as wet beans. Therefore, this research aimed to reduce the impact of risk on the supply chain of North Luwu wet cocoa beans through Supply Chain Risk Management, which included the stages of mapping, risk identification, analysis, and mitigation. The results showed that the supply chain flow map was obtained by tracing and identifying the tiers using snowball sampling method. Subsequently, the list of risk for each tier was identified and assessed for the likelihood, severity, and detection levels through in-depth interviews using 5 Likert scales. Data analysis was also carried out by determining the mapping matrix in avoid, transfer, manage, and appetite risk, as well as assessing the Risk Priority Number (RPN). Avoid risk and those with a high RPN value were priorities in preparing mitigation. The stages considered were the interview and group discussion with risk owners and experts. Meanwhile, the flows of the wet cocoa bean supply chain were identified. In the farmer tier, 8 risks, 10 collectors, 9 cooperatives, and 9 industries were reported. High rainfall, classified as avoid risk, had the highest RPN value. This risk was identified in almost all tiers and mitigated through irrigation improvements, reservoir construction, and planting new adaptive clones.

Abstract

This study was carried out to determine consumer perceptions and preferences of pasteurized milk products with the Susu Nasional brand sold daily by mobile vendors. The influence of these perceptions and preferences on buying decision for Susu Nasional products was directed at the development of a contingency plan for companies during the COVID-19 pandemic. Data were collected through the use of questionnaires and purposive sampling from 20 indicators consisting of 13 exogenous and seven endogenous indicators. The collected data were analyzed using a descriptive statistical method with a partial least square structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM). The results showed a decrease in the buying decision of Susu Nasional products with an increase in the mobile selling implemented by the company due to the vendors’ hospitality, comfort, availability of the product, and the close distance between mobile vendors and customers. On the other hand, the use of attributes by mobile vendors still needs to be increased during the pandemic through the addition of a point of sale by setting up a booth for consumer. In conclusion, PLS-SEM analysis showed that consumer perceptions and preferences positively and significantly influenced 60% of the decision to buy Susu Nasional during the pandemic.

Abstract

Every marketing organization, whether manufacturing or service provider company is required to create differentiation, positioning, and competitive strategies. The most important factor to increase competitiveness in the field is quality of service. Therefore, providing good service appropriate to the expectations and desires of consumers is essential to create and ensure satisfaction. Tangible, reliability, responsiveness, assurance, and empathy are significantly related to consumer’s retention efforts. It is important to analyze the relationship between consumers and the product or service offered to understand that consumers have diverse desires when trying new product or service. This study aimed to investigate the priority of service attributes requiring improvements in coffee and coworking spaces, as well as provide suggestions for improvements based on observations. The variables were in the dimensions of service quality (tangible, reliability, responsiveness, assurance, and empathy). Furthermore, relevant data were collected through questionnaires, while nonprobability sampling method was adopted. Analysis method included Importance Performance Analysis (IPA) and Potential Gain in Customer Value (PGCV). The respondents were 300 consumers of K, R, and S. IPA results identified three attributes in quadrant I, which were sorted by PGCV priority. These attributes included tangible variables (4), empathy (19), and responsiveness (9). Recommendations for improvements included checking all available facilities, providing training to improve employee skills for service, and proactiveness in interaction by offering available menus.
