Abstract

Sepsis merupakan respon sistemik yang disebabkan oleh infeksi. Mortalitas sepsis dapat mencapai 30% meskipun telah dilakukan perawatan intensif. Renjatan sepsis adalah sepsis yang disertai dengan gangguan pada organ kardiovaskular dan respirasi. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengevaluasi parameter gas darah setelah induksi sepsis dan resusitasi cairan. Sebanyak 10 ekor anak babi dengan berat badan 10-13 kg dan umur 2-3 bulan dibagi menjadi dua kelompok perlakuan. Kelompok pertama diresusitasikan dengan cairan koloid modifikasi gelatin 4% (MFG 4%) sedangkan kelompok dua diresusitasikan dengan cairan kristaloid ringer asetat malat (RAM). Lipopolisakarida E. coli sebanyak 50 ug/kg berat badan diberikan dengan rute intravena untuk menginduksi terjadinya sepsis. Induksi sepsis menyebabkan penurunan pH dan PaO2, serta peningkatan PaCO2 dan laktat secara nyata (p<0.05). Resusitasi cairan dilakukan setelah renjatan sepsis. Resusitasi dengan cairan koloid dapat mengembalikan nilai PaCO2 dan PaO2 mendekati normal, serta menekan edema paru. Resusitasi dengan cairan koloid dinilai lebih baik karena dapat meminimalisir kerusakan yang terjadi akibat renjatan sepsis.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi indeks eritrosit (jumlah eritrosit, konsentrasi hemoglobin, hematokrit, VER, HER, KHER) pada anak babi (Sus scrofa) setelah diinduksi sepsis dan diresusitasi oleh cairan koloid (modified fluid gelatin 4%) atau kristaloid (ringer asetat malat). Sepuluh ekor anak babi berumur 2-3 bulan dengan berat badan 8-13 kg dibagi menjadi dua kelompok. Induksi sepsis dilakukan dengan injeksi endotoksin Eschericia coli melalui rute intravena hingga terjadi renjatan sepsis. Resusitasi cairan dilakukan pada saat renjatan sepsis terjadi melalui rute intravena. Kelompok pertama menerima resusitasi cairan menggunakan modified fluid gelatin 4% (MFG 4%) dan pada kelompok yang kedua menerima resusitasi cairan menggunakan cairan ringer asetat malat (RAM). Pengambilan sampel darah dilakukan pada saat setelah anestesi, saat sepsis, dan 3 jam setelah resusitasi cairan. Hasil evaluasi nilai indeks eritrosit menunjukkan bahwa hewan mengalami anemia makrositik regeneratif. Kondisi sepsis dan resusitasi cairan koloid (modified fluid gelatin 4%) maupun cairan kristaloid (ringer asetat malat) tidak memberikan pengaruh yang signifikan terhadap nilai indeks eritrosit.

Abstract

Luksasio persendian patela merupakan kondisi bawaan di mana tulang tempurung lutut (patela) mengalami dislokasi dari alur troklearis normal. Luksasio ini secara klinis dapat terjadi pada bagian medial, di dalam permukaan, lateral, maupun di luar permukaan lutut. Tulisan ini melaporkan kasus patela berpindah lokasi pada kambing. Tulang patela berpindah ke medial persendian lutut dan terlihat berada di belakang tulang femur, sehingga persendian lutut tidak dapat bergerak. Tindakan pembedahan dilakukan untuk melakukan reposisi. Insisi dimulai dari daerah parapatelar sekitar 1 cm dibagian lateral patela dan di atas sendi lutut. Jaringan sendi dipreparir dan dieksplorasi sehingga daerah femoro-tibia dapat diakses dengan baik. Inspeksi dan konfirmasi keadaan ligamen krusiate dari lutut dilakukan untuk melihat keparahan luksasio. Terdapat dua kelainan yang terjadi, yaitu troklea ossis femoris dangkal dan beberapa ligamen patela yang memendek karena kejadian dislokasi telah berlangsung kronis. Tindakan yang dilakukan adalah memperdalam cekungan pada troklea ossis femoris menggunakan kikir sebagai tempat pertautan patela. Selanjutnya melakukan pemotongan tendon (ligamen patela lateral) dan mereposisi patela. Berdasarkan citra radiografi menampakkan tulang patela berada di kranial tulang femur sehingga persendian lutut dapat bergerak dengan baik.

Abstract

Citra radiografi suatu objek yang diperoleh dari mesin x-ray analog adalah berupa film yang telah tercetak sebagai suatu gambar dengan gradasi warna hitam, abu dan putih yang disebut sebagai opasitas. Penilaian perubahan opasitas pada film hasil radiografi analog dilakukan dengan bantuan lampu illuminator untuk menampilkan citra dari objek. Identifikasi perubahan opasitas suatu objek dilakukan oleh dokter hewan secara kualitatif dan bersifat sangat subjektif. Tulisan ini menyajikan teknik kuantifikasi sederhana dalam menilai opasitas citra radiografi analog menjadi hasil yang lebih objektif untuk mengurangi subjektifitas. Film radiografi analog yang telah diperoleh selanjutnya diubah menjadi digital secara fotografi menggunakan kamera digital yang ada pada ponsel genggam. Fotografi citra dilakukan di ruangan gelap dengan bantuan lampu illuminator. Foto kemudian dipindahkan ke perangkat komputer untuk diolah dengan perangkat lunak ImageJ. Nilai opasitas suatu area terpilih ditentukan oleh densitas objek berupa gray value pada setiap pixel dalam rentang angka 0-255. Nilai nol untuk citra paling gelap berwarna hitam sebagai radiolucent, sedangkan nilai 255 untuk citra paling terang berwarna putih sebagai radiopaque.

Abstract

Kombinasi Ketamine dan Xylazine sebagai induksi anastesi sangat umum digunakan pada hewan kecil. Protokol pemberiannya umumnya didahului dengan pemberian Atropin sulfat sebagai premedikasi yang diberikan secara tersendiri. Produk baru yang berisi kombinasi ketamine, atropine dan xylazine (Ket-A-Xyl® 20 ml, AgroVet, Peru) telah dipasarkan di Indonesia untuk induksi anastesi pada anjing. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menilai efek induksi anastesi sediaan Ket-A-Xyl pada kucing domestik. Hasil pemberian sediaan ini pada kucing domestik memiliki onset 3.33 ± 2.07 menit dan durasi 59.5 ± 11.11 menit. Induksi dengan sediaan ini menimbulkan efek anastesi yang berlangsung sangat halus, tenang, tidak menimbulkan muntah serta memiliki efek muscle relaxant yang baik. Hewan coba sebagian besar tidak menunjukkan adanya delirium. Sediaan Ket-A-Xyl® dinilai efisien dalam mengurangi waktu yang diperlukan pada fase preanastesi meskipun efek hipotermia terjadi pada seluruh hewan

Abstract

Disorders of the spleen and liver are cases that are quite common in dogs, especially in old age. Ultrasonography (USG) of the abdomen is one of the diagnostic imaging tools to determine the changes and severity of disease in the hepatobiliary visceral organs and spleen. A 12-year-old, unneutered male Shih Tzu dog weighing 5 kg had clinical symptoms of vomiting, weakness, and a pain response when palpated in the abdomen. The examination was carried out at the VTH SVMBS IPB University. Abdominal ultrasound examinations were routinely performed every month from November 2021 to March 2022. The results obtained from a series of ultrasound examinations for five months showed that the size of the hypoechoic nodule in the spleen did not change significantly with dimensions of length x width x height of about 1.1 x 0. 8 x 1 mm. The texture of the liver parenchyma is not homogeneous in all lobes. Hypoechoic nodules were seen in all lobes of the liver. A Significant increase in the size of the nodules was observed in the left lobe liver in the second month of examination and did not change in the following month. Hematological examination of the blood showed that the dog had thrombocytosis and granulocytosis. The results of the blood chemistry examination showed that ALP and ALP levels tended to increase at each assessment. The conclusion is the dog was diagnosed with neoplasia in the spleen and liver

Abstract

This study aims to describe ultrasonographic imaging of the spleen, stomach, liver, kidney, bladder, and prostate in piglets (Sus scrofa domestica). Ultrasonography was performed on six male piglets aged 1 month with a body weight of 4-8 kg. Ultrasonography of the spleen, stomach, liver, urinary bladder, and prostate was observed in the dorsal-recumbency position, and the kidney was observed in the lateral-recumbency position. The ultrasound examination used the Chison EBit 60, which is a linear type transducer with a frequency of 9 MHz, transverse and sagittal positions, and a gain of about 55-80. Ultrasonography of the spleen showed that the shape of the spleen head varied in each individual. The results of gastric ultrasonography showed the gastric lining clearly and the similarity of the position, shape, structure, echogenicity, and size of the stomach. The results of liver ultrasonography showed that the echogenicity of the liver tended to be hyperechoic, the kidneys were hyperechoic, and the bladder was hypoechoic due to the use of improper gain. The average length of the right kidney was 4.73±0.50 cm and the left kidney was 4.08±0.26 cm. The bladder wall thickness was 1.3±0.31 mm. Imaging of the bladder showed changes in wall size and echogenicity. Prostate ultrasound results obtained an average length of 2.68±0.45 cm, width 1.69±0.35 cm. The results of this study can be used as a reference for normal data on organ position, organ structure, and organ echogenicity of the spleen, stomach, liver, kidney, bladder, and prostate in piglets.

Abstract

The Kintamani dog was designated as the first Indonesian native dog by the Indonesian Kinology Association (Perhimpunan Kinologi Indonesia/Perkin) in 2006 and has been officially registered as an Indonesian native world dog by the Fédération Cynologique Internationale (FCI) on February 20 2019, under the breed name Anjing Kintamani – Bali. This study aims to evaluate the radiogram of the elbow joint in Kintamani dogs based on FCI assessment standards. The research samples used were radiograms of 34 Kintamani dogs aged 12 to 24 months, consisting of 19 male dogs and 15 female dogs. Forelimb radiographs were taken in two positions, mediolateral flexion 15° and craniocaudal pronation 15°. Radiograms were taken using computerized radiography (CR) and digital radiography (DR), then interpreted and analysed using Digimizer software. The interpretation of the elbow joint is done descriptively based on the presence of primary lesions and/ or osteoarthrosis in the elbow joint. A qualitative analysis was carried out regarding the normal anatomical structure of the elbow joint of the Kintamani dog according to the standards set by the FCI. Based on the FCI assessment score for the forelegs, 33 Kintamani dogs were assessed as normal (FCI grade 0). Only one Kintamani dog was assessed as having mild elbow dysplasia (FCI grade 1), as indicated by the presence of >2 mm osteophytes. Complete knowledge of the anatomy and radiography position is very necessary in determining the prognosis of elbow dysplasia in order to support efforts to breed the Kintamani dog as the first Indonesian native world dog.

Abstract

A 4 month old male pig weighing 18.5 kg has enlarged testes. The mass in the scrotum is enlarge rapidly within 1 month, there is no known castration history of this animal. Pigs have a fairly good appetite, but have persistent diarrhea. Physical and supporting examinations (radiography, ultrasonography, hematology and blood chemistry) were performed. Radiographic results showed radiopaque nodules in the lungs, gas distension in the fundus and intestines that were imaged radiolucently, and radiopaque masses in the testis-scrotum. Based on the results of ultrasonography, it is known that the bladder is surrounded by intestinal organs and some anechoic areas are seen on the sonogram of the testes. Hematological and blood chemistry data obtained showed that the animals had hypochromic anemia, decreased ALP values, and had leukocytosis. The results of the investigations carried out were not clear enough to determine the cause of the enlargement of the pig's testicles, so a surgical approach was carried out with a dubius-infausta prognosis. The results of this approach were adjusted with the results of the previous investigations and concluded that the pigs had malignant testicular neoplasia, scrotal hernia, and testicular cyst.

Abstract

Domestic pig (Sus scrofa domestica) is well known as animal that used frequently as a research animal due to their similarity to human both in  terms of anatomy and physiology. Information regarding  standard value of domestic piglet’s hematology in Indonesia are still limited. The aim of this study was to obtain erythrocyte profiles of domestic piglets in Animal Laboratory and Research Unit, Bogor Agricultural University. The results of this study are expected to be used as an erythrocyte profiles reference of domestic piglets in Indonesia. Blood samples were collected from six male piglets in Animal Laboratory and Research Unit, Bogor Agricultural University through auricular vein, then the samples were put into a vaccuum tube containing anticoagulant (K3EDTA) for further test using hematology analyzer. The parameters used in this study consist of erythrocyte count, hemoglobin concentration, hematocrit, and erythrocyte indices. Data were analyzed descriptively in the form of mean ± standard deviation (minimum–maximum). The results of this study showed that the average of erythrocyte counts were 6,42 ± 1,03 millions/µL with 8,30 ± 1,51 g/dl hemoglobin concentration, hematocrite 29,80 ± 5,10%, MCV 46,47 ± 1,62 fL, MCH 12,83 ± 0, 65 pg, MCHC 27,75 ± 0,71 g/dL, and RDW 28,87 ± 3,86%.
