Abstract

ABSTRAKPenelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui pengaruh pemberian vitamin E terhadap kadar SOD serum tikus putih (Rattus norvegicus) diabetes melitus. Penelitian ini menggunakan tikus putih sebanyak 25 ekor dengan kriteria: sehat, bobot badan 150 – 200 gram; umur ± 3 – 4 bulan; dan jenis kelamin jantan. Rancangan yang digunakan adalah rancangan acak lengkap (RAL) pola searah dengan 5 kelompok perlakuan. Masing-masing kelompok perlakuan terdiri atas lima ekor tikus. Kelompok tikus non-diabetes (KN), kelompok tikus diabetes induksi aloksan (KP), kelompok perlakuan yaitu tikus diabetes induksi aloksan dan diberi vitamin E dosis 50 IU/kgbb/hari (P1), 100 IU/kgbb/hari (P2), dan 150 IU/kgbb/hari (P3). Perlakuan vitamin E diberikan selama 28 hari. Pada hari ke-29 setelah perlakuan, dilakukan koleksi serum untuk pengukuran kadar SOD serum dengan spektrofotometer. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis dengan ANOVA satu arah dan uji lanjut Duncan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan kadar SOD serum adalah 58,00 ± 7,48 U/ml, 36,50 ± 4,56  U/ml (KP), 42,55 ± 5,89 U/ml (P1), 50,44 ± 5,32 U/ml (P2), dan 55,20 ± 4,84 U/ml (P3). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa vitamin E dapat meningkatan kadar SOD serum secara signifikan (P0,05). Pemberian  vitamin E dengan dosis 150 IU/kg BB/hari menghasilkan peningkatan kadar SOD serum terbaik pada tikus putih diabetes melitus. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah pemberian vitamin E dapat meningkatkan kadar SOD serum tikus putih diabetes melitus.ABSTRACT            This study aims to know the effect of vitamin E administration to SOD serum level in diabetes mellitus induced white rats (Rattus norvegicus). This study used 25 white rat in criteria: healthy; body weight 150 – 200 gram; age ± 3 – 4 month; and male sex. The research design was used completely randomized design (CRD) with 4 unidirectional pattern groups treatments. Each group consisted of five rat. Group of non-diabetic rats (KN), group of alloxan-induced diabetic rats (KP), group of alloxan-induced diabetic rats which given with vitamin E 50 IU/kgBW/day (P1), 100 IU/kgBW/day (P2), and 150 IU/kgBW/day (P3). Treatment of vitamin E was given in 28 days. On the 29th day after treatment, serum collection was performed to quantify SOD serum level by spectrophotometers. The data obtained were analyzed by one-way ANOVA and continued with Duncan test. The result showed SOD serum level was 58.00 ± 7.48 U/ml, 36.50 ± 4.56 U/ml (KP), 42.55 ± 5.89 U/ml (P1), 50.44 ± 5.32 U/ml (P2), and 55.20 ± 4.84 U/ml (P3). The result showed that therapy of vitamin E could increase SOD serum level significantly (P0.05). Treatment dose of 150 IU/kgBW/day was the best increasing of SOD serum level in diabetes mellitus induced white rat. The conclusion of research showed that giving of vitamin E can increasing the SOD serum level in diabetes mellitus induced white rat.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui  kemampuan teknologi NIRS guna memprediksi kadar lemak dan protein daging sapi aceh. Penentuan kadar protein dan lemak daging sapi aceh dilakukan pada regio Longissimus dorsi. Sampel diperoleh dari pasar Peunayong dan Lambaro, meliputi 2 sampel daging dengan masing-masing daging 3 kali pengulangan. Penelitian ini  menggunakan metode Principal Component Analysis (PCA) untuk menentukan kandungan protein dan lemak daging sapi aceh  Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan  bahwa nilai aktual laboratorium dengan nilai prediksi NIRS memperoleh nilai yang akurat ditunjukkan dengan masing-masing R-square prediksi kadar protein dan lemak daging sapi aceh 0,99 dan 0,99 yaitu variabel prediksi terbaik. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah NIRS mampu memprediksi kadar protein dan lemak daging sapi aceh dengan sangat baik karena diperoleh nilai aktual dengan nilai prediksi dan metode NIRS dapat memprediksi kadar protein dan lemak daging sapi aceh secara akurat, karena diperoleh nilai R² = 0,99.This study aims to know the ability of NIRS technology to predicted  of fat  and protein content of aceh beef. Determination of protein and  fat content of aceh beef  was done in the Longissimus dorsi region. This research used Principal Component Analysis (PCA) method to determine protein  and  fat content of aceh beef. Samples were obtained from Peunayong and Lambaro markets. Sampled beef consisted of beef 2 samples with 3 repetition. The results of this study showed that the actual value of the laboratory with a predicted value of NIRS obtained an accurate value indicated by each R-square prediction protein  and fat content of aceh beef aceh  of 0.99 and 0.99 was the best predictive variable. It can be concluded that NIRS was able to predict the levels of protein and fat of beef as accurately. The conclusion of this study were that NIRS was able to predicted the protein and fat content of aceh beef very well because it was obtained by the actual value with prediction value and the NIRS method can predict the protein and fat content of beef aceh accurately, because the value of  R² = 0,99.

Abstract

This study was done to investigate lipid profile in the blood of Sumatran elephants at the ECC of Saree. In this stud blood samples were drawn from the auricular vein of 8 sumatran elephants at the ECC. Reasurement of total cholesterol, low density lipoprotein (LDL), high density lipoprotein (HDL), and triglicerida (TG) was carried spectrophotometrically by the commercial service of research laboratory in Banda Aceh. The results showed that the average concentrations of total cholesterol, LDL, HDL, and TG in the blood of Sumatran elephants were 155,86±54,39 mg/dL, 40,13±3,40 mg/dL, 101,13±46,16 mg/dL, dan 84,89±32,86 mg/dL. It can be concluded that the average concentrations of the lipid profile in the blood of the sumatran elephants at the ECC in Aceh were higher than that of reported in other subspecies of Asian elephant

Abstract

The aim of this research was to evaluate the effect of chayote (Sechium edule) leaves infusion on hemoglobin and hematocrit level of anemic rat (Rattus norvegicus). Twelve anemic hemorrhagic male rats strain Wistar with body weight ranging from 175-200 g were used as sample in this research. Rats were divided randomly into 3 treatment groups, each group consist of 4 rats. The control group (P0) was not given chayote leaves infusion. Group P1 and P2 were given chayote leaves infusion with the concentration of 25% and 50% respectively, with dose of 1 ml per 200 gram body weight. Rats were fed with standard commercial food (Turbo feed) and aquadest ad libitum. The rats were treated anemic by taking 20% blood from total blood volume prior to administration of chayote laeves infusion. Chayote leaves infusion was given for 10 days consecutively. Blood sampling was carried out on day 0, 5, and 10 via caudal vein. Data were analyzed using anlysis of variance (ANOVA) Split-Plot pattern. The result showed that chayote leaves infusion increase level of hemoglobin and hematocrit in experimental rats. In conclusion 25% concentration of chayote leaves infusion is more effective than 50% concentration.Key words: anemia, chayote leaves, hemoglobin, hematocrit

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of fermented kelor leaves (Moringa oleifera) flour as additive in animal feed to increase the weight of boiler carcass. The samples used were 28 DOC strain Cobb CP-707 aged 1 day. This study was conducted using one way pattern complete randomized design with 4 treatments and 7 replications. Control group (P0) was fed with commercial feed; P1 was given 5% fermented kelor leaves flour;  P2 was given 7,5% fermented kelor leaves flour; and P3 was given 10% concentration of fermented kelor leaves flour. Feed replacement was conducted on 08.00 am and 5.00 pm everyday, and water was given ad libitum. Chemical content of flour before and after fermented was analyzed at Research Centre of Biotechnology and Biological Resources, IPB. Body weight measurement was carried out at Veterinary Public Health Laboratorium. Data were analyzed using ANOVA with SPSS 16.0. Mean value (±SD) of carcass weight for P0, P1, P2, and P3 were 938,71±180,83, 1011,86±101,64, 1010,71±126,69, and 907,43±190,35, respectively. This study showed that adddition of fermented kelor leaves flour for 21 days did not affect (P0,05) the weight of broilers carcass.
