Abstract

Savunese language later shortened (Sl) is a regional language used by East Nusa Tenggara people particularly Sabu and Raijua. The area of using Savunese language can be found in Ipi/Ende regency, Aimere/Ngada regency, Melolo/East Sumba regency, Kupang city, Kupang regency, Soe regency, Kefa regency andBelu regency; the functionof Savunese languageas introductory language for Savunese people in the overseas still functions properlybecause of traditional lifestyle of the group based on the origin and interest which is still very dominant. In this paper I attempt to appoint the mistery of the distinctivefeature of phoneme in Savunese language, is a concern to bring back the uniqueness of Savunese language which has undergone a lot of developments. The determination of consonant features according Optimization Theory based on the following criteria: (1) classification based on place of articulation , (2) classification based on the sound , (3) classification based on nasality , and (4) classification based on continuity (continuation). While the determination of vowel in Savunese language. Structural or transformational-generative idiologyuses high, mid, low, front, back, round, and non roundin classifying vowel. Unlike the Structural ideology, Generative ideology describes vowel by using distinctive features [high], [back.], [round.], and [low].

Abstract

This study was conducted to find out the students’ mastery level in constructing WH-Questions and find out the difficulties faced by the first year students of SMP N. 10 Kupang in constructing questions by using WH-Questions. A Descriptive  Quantitative Method was employed to describe the two answers. A class of the first year students of SMP N. 10 Kupang consisting of 31 students were taken as the sample of this research. The instrument of this research was a test of Multiple Choice (30 items) and Completion (20 items). The result of the research shows that the first year students of SMP N. 10 Kupang have not perfectly mastered yet the English WH-Questions, as shown in the result of the discussion. The average percentage of the students’ mastery level is 69,9%. So according to Arikunto’s standard measurement, this percentage is categorized into “Average Level” (Arikunto, 1998 : 226). The highest percentage of the students’ mastery level in constructing WH-Questions is 74,7% for WH-Question “Who”, whereas the lower percentage is 57,1 for WH-Question “How”. The most difficult problem encountered by the students in doing the test caused they could not differentiate the WH-Questions one from another, for example they use “Who” instead of “What”. The difficulties face by the students in doing the test is caused by the students’ misunderstanding on the rules (the English grammar), their lack of knowledge of WH-Questions and  also caused by the inter lingual error where the students influenced by their mother tongues.

Abstract

Speech acts are a person's ability to use language to convey messages or goals from speakers to speech partners. Then, this speech act is not only found in everyday conversations but can be found in other media, such as novels. Novel is a media for conveying messages and the purpose of writing and to provide entertainment to every reader. Novel is a story or fiction that presents a deeper aspect of human life which is constantly changing and a meaningful dynamic unity. One of the interesting novels and deserves to be studied is Marianne novel. This novel was written by one great Indonesian writer, named Risa Saraswati. In this study, the researcher conducted a directive speech act and used Marianne novel as a data source in this study. This research is qualitative research using descriptive method. The findings of this study there are as many as 12 utterances. The forms of directive speech acts in this study include: (1) speech acts of requestives as many as 3 utterances, (2) speech acts directive of questions just 1 utterance, (3) speech acts directive of requirements as many as 2 utterances, (4) prohibitive speech acts 2 utterances, (5) permissive speech acts just 1 utterance, and (6) advice directive speech around 3 utterances and each of these utterances has intentions and goals from the speaker to the speech partner.

Abstract

Abstrak: Rumusan masalah yang di kaji dalam penelitian ini adalah, Bagaimanakah Upaya Meningkatkan Hasil Belajar Siswa Tentang Perkalian Bilangan 2 Angka Melalui Metode Bermain Sambil Belajar Dengan Media Ular Tangga Pada Siswa Kelas III SD Inpres Fatukoat. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan penggunaan Metode Bermain Sambil Belajar Dengan Permainan Ular Tangga Sebagai Upaya Peningkatan Hasil Belajar Tentang Perkalian Bilangan 2 Angka Pada Siswa Kelas III SD I Fatukoat.Pendekatan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah diskriptif Kualitatif. Jenis penelitian ini adalah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK). Metode dalam Pengumpulan Data Melalui Obserfasi, Wawancara, Tes, Dokumentasi. Subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah peserta didik kelas III SD Inpres Fatukoat yang berjumlah 16 orang. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa Penggunaan Metode Bermain Sambil Belajar Dengan Media Ular Tangga dapat meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa kelas III SD Inpres Fatukoat, Terlihat dari nilai rata-rata hasil pengamatan aktifitas guru dalam mengelola pembelajaran, serta aktifitas peserta didik dalam pembelajaran mengalami peningkatan dari siklus I hingga siklus II. Jumlah peserta didik yang tuntas pada siklus I sebanyak 10 orang dengan nila rata-rata 61,87% serta persentase ketuntasan 62,5%. Dan jumlah peserta didik yang tuntas pada sikus II sebanyak 16 orang , dengan nilai rata-rata 90,62% serta persentase ketuntasan mencapai 100%. Dari hasil belajar tersebut terjadi peningkatan proses belajar peserta didik dalam pembelajaran Matematika materi Perkalian Bilangan 2 Angka yang di laksakan oleh Guru menggunakan Metode Bermain Sambil Belajar Dengan Media Ular Tangga.

Abstract

Penelitian ini telah dilaksanakan di SD GMIT Airnona 2 pada tanggal 28 Agustus sampai dengan 05 September 2019. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar PKn dengan menggunakan model word square dan model talking stick pada peserta didik kelas III SD GMIT Airnona 2 tahun ajaran 2019/2020.Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian tindakan kelas. Subjek penelitian ini adalah peserta didik kelas III SD GMIT Airnona 2 sebanyak 29 orang. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah tes dan dokumentasi. Sedangkan teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah analisis deskriptif kualitatif dan analisis deskriptif kuantitatif.Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa penerapan model word square dan model talking stick pada saat proses pembelajaran berlangsung peserta didik sangat aktif dan berani menjawab pertanyaan yang diberikan oleh guru, sehingga presentase ketuntasan hasil belajar peserta didik pada siklus I berjumlah 68,96 % mengalami peningkatan pada siklus II menjadi 96,55 %. Maka penelitian ini dengan menggunakan model word square dan model talking stick dianggap berhasil meningkatkan hasil belajar PKn peserta didik kelas III SD GMIT Airnona 2.

Abstract

It cannot be denied that we need a language to communicate with each other in our life. Lado (1964:9) stated that language is the chief means by which human personality expresses and fulfills its basic needs for social interaction with other people. By using language, someone’s opinion could be understood by others. Without language it is impossible for everyone to understand others’ opinion or idea. Everybody should realize that interaction and relation in a social will be empty without language. Preposition in this little words in English (Wishon and Burks, 1980: 288). In preposition of time many students find some troubles; they can’t construct the sentences correctly. Descriptive method and the instrument is test. The type of test is completion test, by which the writer asks the students to complete the sentences. The writer conducted the test only one time. The subjects of research is how far by the Second Year Students of Language Program at SMA Negeri Niki-Niki, Amanuban Tengah Subdistrict, Timor Tengah Selatan Regency, East Nusa Tenggara In The School Year 2023/2024 able to use the preposition of time? Abstract

Sulamanda Beach, located in Mata Air Village, Central Kupang Subdistrict, Kupang Regency, East Nusa Tenggara, is one of the leading tourist destinations that offers stunning natural charm and diverse local culinary wealth. To maximize tourism potential and improve the quality of service to tourists, special English language training was conducted for culinary businesses in this area. The training was designed to improve the English language skills of the participants, who consisted of restaurant owners, chefs, and service staff in the culinary sector. The training aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of the English language training in improving participants' language skills as well as its impact on the quality of culinary services provided to tourists. The research methodology included several important steps: first, hands-on practice-based training covering everyday communication situations and customer service scenarios. Second, a pre-test and post-test were conducted. Third, an analysis of feedback from travelers was conducted to measure changes in service quality and customer satisfaction after the implementation of the training. The results of this study are expected to provide in-depth insight into the effect of English language training on improving the communication skills of culinary businesses and its impact on the tourist experience.

Abstract

Pola hidup sehat sangat penting untuk menjaga kesehatan individu, terutama bagi anak-anak. Mencuci tangan dengan benar adalah praktik dasar dalam mencegah penyebaran penyakit. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pemahaman mengenai pola hidup sehat di kalangan anak-anak Sekolah Minggu di Jemaat GMIT Pniel Manutapen melalui pendidikan langsung, permainan edukatif, dan kegiatan berbagi. Metode yang digunakan meliputi instruksi langsung tentang teknik mencuci tangan yang benar, permainan edukatif yang dirancang untuk memperkuat konsep kesehatan, serta kegiatan berbagi yang melibatkan pembagian camilan sehat. Hasil menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan dalam pemahaman anak-anak tentang kebersihan pribadi dan peningkatan keterlibatan mereka dalam komunitas. Permainan edukatif berhasil melibatkan anak-anak dengan cara yang menyenangkan dan berdampak, sementara kegiatan berbagi menumbuhkan rasa solidaritas dan dukungan komunitas. Program ini menekankan pentingnya kombinasi pendekatan edukatif untuk membentuk kebiasaan sehat pada anak-anak.

Abstract

This initial research review premarket Disclaimer sentences in languages that include the study of the form of Dawan and distribution. Research data are restricted to the realm of the subject in the language of Dawan. This research is descriptive research because it exposes the data as is, as found by the time the research was conducted. Sample research location is the old Village, Kampung Manulai II, Alak, Kupang. Method of data collection is the interview and documentation study with data collection techniques are techniques of recording and see-note. The data were analyzed qualitatively-argumentative with inductive methods. The initial results of the study indicate that there is a linguistic phenomenon to premarket Disclaimer language syntax in Dawan has characteristics typical of appropriate specificity of context grammatically the military discharging phenomena grammatically. The peculiarities which show specificity criterion and characteristic of pertaining linguistic phenomenon used in sentence-level language usage can be seen in Dawan premarket Disclaimer, as reflected in the distribution of life forms and aspects grammatical basis by fa. Pemarkah this has a significance in grammatically because of grammatical typology and with regard to the use of languages in the community of speakers Dawan.

Abstract

This study aims to develop English writing skills through the use of short stories for grade XI students of SMA N Amanuban Timur. Writing in English is an important skill that students must master, both for academic purposes and daily life. However, many students face difficulties in organizing ideas in a structured manner and mastering the use of appropriate vocabulary and grammar. Therefore, the use of short stories as a learning method is an effective and interesting solution to improve writing skills. This method involves several stages, starting from analyzing the structure of short stories, selecting themes that match students' interests, to the process of writing stories. In addition, peer review or peer feedback sessions are conducted to provide constructive feedback, which allows students to improve and develop their writing. The results of this study showed that the short story approach successfully improved students' writing skills, enriched their vocabulary, and increased their confidence in speaking and writing in English. Thus, this method can be an effective alternative in learning English at the high school level.
