The impact of negative reproductive health outcomes is greater for female adolescents than for males, so the role of parents in providing health education to female adolescents is an important thing that requires serious attention. Mothers are parents as primary caregivers who have an important role in the development of reproductive health in adolescents. Lack of knowledge and perception of mothers about reproductive health in parents can trigger reproductive health problems, such as unwanted pregnancies, abortions, early marriages, sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), and HIV/AIDS. The sample was adolescents aged 12-18 years in the working area of the Ngasem Health Center, Kediri Regency, as many as 80 respondents who were obtained based on proportional random sampling techniques. The instrument used to measure the variables of knowledge, maternal perception and adolescent reproductive health used a questionnaire. Data analysis used the Spearman rank test with a significance level of 0.05. The results of the study showed that there was a relationship between maternal knowledge and adolescent reproductive health education with a fairly strong correlation value (r = 0.482), and there was a significant relationship between maternal knowledge and adolescent reproductive health education with a fairly strong correlation value (r = 0.482), there was also a significant relationship between maternal perception and reproductive health education in adolescents with a strong correlation value (r = 0.777). Efforts are needed to improve maternal knowledge and perception in order to provide reproductive education so that adolescents become more responsible for their reproductive health.  Keywords: knowledge, perception, reproductive health, adolescent mother

Abstract

Stunting is a serious health problem that has long-term impacts on children's physical and cognitive growth and national progress. This study aims to explore micro-level social determinants, such as maternal knowledge, caregiving practices, household food access, and health service utilization, that influence stunting in Kediri City, and to formulate context-based strategies to address these issues. The design of this study uses a qualitative approach with a case study method; Data were collected through in-depth interviews and participatory observations of mothers who have toddlers or school-age children. Based on research, the incidence of stunting in Kediri City is influenced by various factors, including: lack of understanding of balanced nutrition, inadequate nutritional intake, malnutrition from an early age, lack of monitoring during pregnancy, Low Birth Weight (LBW), unhealthy eating habits, to recurring child health problems, lack of food variety and limited time and knowledge of mothers also exacerbate the situation. These findings emphasize the importance of nutrition education from pregnancy, improving primary health services such as routine visits to health centers, and continuous monitoring of child growth and development. This study recommends a multisectoral and participatory approach to accelerate the reduction of stunting at the community level.

Abstract

Earthquakes are one of the natural disasters that frequently occur in Indonesia and claim many lives. Kediri City is an earthquake-prone area because it is home to one of the active volcanoes, Kelud Mountain. Children are among the vulnerable groups most at risk of being affected by disasters. Preparedness is important to be provided early to provide understanding and guidance on the appropriate steps to take when a threat occurs to reduce disaster risk. This community service activity aimed to determine the effect of simulation on earthquake disaster preparedness among students of SDN Pojok 2, Kediri City. The method used a pre-experimental one-group pre-test and post-test design. The samples were taken using cluster random sampling and the sample size used was 46 students. The preparedness data were collected using a questionnaire. The data analysis used the Wilcoxon test. The results of the activity showed that the level of preparedness before the disaster simulation was almost entirely low (80.5%), the level of preparedness after the disaster simulation was almost entirely high (86.9%), and there was an effect of simulation on earthquake disaster preparedness among students of SDN Pojok 2, Kediri City (ρ = 0.000). Preparedness simulations have significantly improved elementary school students' disaster preparedness. Therefore, it is hoped that disaster management simulations can be implemented in all schools in Kediri City, with training provided to elementary school teachers.
