Abstract

Abstract The aim of this study is to explore the effect of motorization to the development of urban public transportation in urban areas in Indonesian city in the last decade. The study employs many statistical data regarding motorization and urban public transport. It can be concluded that the motorization will continue to grow, and the existing transport policy should be re-questioned. It roots on the lack of acceptable provision of public transport in term of quality and quantity, but also as a result of high preference on using private transport. The challenge becomes excessive and complex, since there is no appropriate visionary road map for development of urban public transport. In answering this problem, the authors propose an abstract of two sequence approach, namely setting priority in taking side in provision of acceptable mobility for all, and followed with the redefinition of urban transport development by implementing transit-oriented development.Key words: motorization, urban public transport, development, sustainability.

Abstract

Abstract As a way to improve the service of public transportation, there is a plan to operate bus lane in the city of Bandung with Cibeureum-Cibiru as a selected route. The aim of this study is to estimate the number of passenger and also the operational characteristics of bus lane for 20 years, i.e. from 2007 up to 2027. By employing deterministic approach, several operational characteristics, i.e. frequency, headway, and number of bus, are estimated. Two types of bus are employed, i.e. medium and regular bus with 55 and 85 passengers. Number of passengers for the year of 2007 and 2027 are 1,562 and 2,321 passengers per hour per direction, respectively. In 2007, frequency for medium and regular bus is 14 and 10 bus per hour, while the headway is 4.3 and 6 minutes. Number of medium and regular bus for the year of 2007 is 27 and 20 units.Keywords: bus lane, pelayanan operasional, estimasi, angkutan umum.

Abstract

Abstract Travel, most often viewed in theory as derived from the demand for activity participation, has almost always been modeled on the trip-based basis, i.e., the trip is treated as the unit of analysis. Attributes of a trip (e.g., its origin and destination, mode, length) have been the subjects of analysis, but not the types of activities engaged in, their durations, sequences, and timing. This paper offers a brief review of the travel behavior analysis in order to provide a better understanding and forecasting of travel behavior. The article further offers discussions on its possible applications in urban areas of developing countries where historical accumulations of transportation and communications technologies are being introduced within a short span of time, creating the environment for travel which may not be properly accounted for using the conventional trip-based models of travel demand. In addition, the dataset from Malaysia was employed as a case of study.Keywords: travel behavior, travel, demand, transportation planning, developing cities.

Abstract

Abstract Sea transportation sector comes to be one golden bridge for Indonesia to increase the economy activity. In this context, Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam Province is one of the strategic provinces, which acts as a gate to enter in western part of Indonesia. Being surrounded by sea, a harbor and sea transportation in NAD is a must. One of the most important harbour in NAD province is Krueng Geukueh Harbour. NAD has very strategic position, between Malaysia and Singapore, and potential conditions, e.g. closely related with central business district, the existence of abundance natural resources, and the availability of airport. The purpose of this study is to improve the performance of Krueng Geukueh Harbour. An improvement efforts suggested include, improving unity of intermodal and multimodal in this harbour, increasing harbour’s capacity of facilities, increasing shipping safety, improving human resources quality and technology usage, and offering opportunities for investor. Keywords: harbor’s performance, intermodal transportation, multimodal transportation.

Abstract

Abstract Headway is an important factor for public transport users and operators since headway is one of service quality indicators of public transportation system. The purpose of this study is to describe the headway of bus Trans Metro Bandung (TMB) in the corridor of Cicaheum-Cibeureum and analyze the headway distribution. The statistical distribution of TMB’s headway in each shelter has similar distribution, namely the gamma distribution. The results show that the headway distribution for one week data observation in each bus shelter follows gamma distribution with the mean of 27 minutes. Key words: public transportation, headway, public transportation operator, gamma distribution  Abstrak Waktu antara merupakan faktor penting bagi pengguna angkutan publik dan operator karena waktu antara merupakan suatu indikator kualitas layanan sistem transportasi angkutan publik. Tujuan studi ini adalah mendeskripsikan nilai waktu antara dan menganalisis distribusi waktu antara bis Trans Metro Bandung pada koridor Cicaheum-Cibeureum. Distribusi probabilitas waktu antara bis Trans Metro Bandung di setiap halte memiliki jenis distribusi yang sama, yaitu distribusi gamma. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa distribusi waktu antara untuk pengamatan selama satu minggu di setiap halte bis memiliki distribusi gamma dengan rata-rata sebesar 27 menit. Kata-kata kunci: angkutan publik, operator angkutan publik, waktu antara, distribusi gamma

Abstract

Abstract An impact of the advancement of information and communication technology is the emergence of transportation that relies on technology-based applications as a link between providers and users of transportation services, known as online transportation. There are many factors that determine a user's decision to choose an online transportation provider. These factors are based on the user's perception of experience when using the service. This study aims to analyze the perceptions of users that influence the selection of 4 providers of application-based transportation services in the City of Bandung, namely Go-Jek, Uber, Grab, and My Blue Bird, and the interrelationships between perceptions given. The results of this study indicate that the assessments given by respondents to online transportation service providers are approxi-mately equal, because there is no significant difference in assessment among different online transportation providers. Keywords: online transportation, transportation service providers, user’s perceptions, transportation service users  Abstrak Suatu dampak adanya kemajuan teknologi informasi dan komunikasi adalah munculnya transportasi yang mengandalkan aplikasi berbasis teknologi sebagai penghubung antara penyedia dan pengguna jasa transportasi, yang dikenal sebagai transportasi online. Ada banyak faktor yang menentukan keputusan pengguna untuk memilih penyedia transportasi online. Faktor-faktor penentu tersebut didasarkan pada persepsi pengguna terhadap pengalaman saat menggunakan layanan tersebut. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis persepsi pengguna yang memengaruhi pemilihan 4 penyedia jasa transportasi berbasis aplikasi di Kota Bandung, yaitu Go-Jek, Uber, Grab, dan My Blue Bird, serta keterkaitan antarpersepsi yang diberikan. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa penilaian yang diberikan oleh responden kepada penyedia jasa transportasi online kurang lebih seimbang, karena tidak ada perbedaan penilaian yang mencolok di antara penyedia transportasi online yang berbeda-beda. Kata-kata kunci: transportasi online, penyedia jasa transportasi, persepsi pengguna, pengguna jasa transportasi

Abstract

Abstract Grocery shopping activities play substantial role in fulfilling individuals’ daily-activities needs. Its spatial-separated location characteristics led to travel consequence. Grocery shopping activities and travels still partly contributed to several challenges on urban transportation, such as traffic congestion. This study aims to investigate the shopping location decision as a part of shoppers’ spatial attribute. The analysis conducted based on data from a survey in Bandung City in 2017 which the shopping activities and travel characteristics were recorded. Result of analyses using classification analysis confirmed the hypotheses that there is positive interaction between travel characteristics, activity arrangements, and spatial conditions in selecting shopping location. It is found, similar region shopping location with resident area not necessarily lead to a choice. The study finds that the attractions offered by shopping locations influence location selection. In addition, the activity arrangement of shoppers through the trip chain were also found to influence the selection of shopping locations. Keywords: grocery shopping, shopping location, travel characteristics, travel behavior  Abstrak Kegiatan belanja sehari-hari berperan penting dalam memenuhi kebutuhan aktivitas sehari-hari individu maupun rumah tangga. Karakteristik spasial lokasi belanja mengakibatkan konsekuensi pada perjalanan. Kegiatan dan perjalanan belanja sehari-hari berkontribusi pada permasalahan transportasi perkotaan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis keputusan pemilihan lokasi belanja sebagai bagian dari atribut spasial pelaku belanja. Analisis dilakukan berdasarkan data survei wawancara di Kota Bandung tahun 2017 tentang kegiatan belanja dan karakteristik perjalanan. Hasil analisis menggunakan analisis klasifikasi mendukung hipotesis bahwa ada interaksi positif antara karakteristik perjalanan, pengaturan aktivitas, dan kondisi spasial dalam memilih jenis lokasi belanja. Kesamaan lokasi belanja dan lokasi tempat tinggal tidak selalu mengarahkan pelaku belanja untuk memilih lokasi tersebut. Studi ini menemukan pula bahwa atraksi yang ditawarkan oleh lokasi belanja memengaruhi pemilihan tersebut. Selain itu, pengaturan aktivitas pelaku belanja juga ditemukan memengaruhi pemilihan lokasi belanja, yaitu dengan melakukan pengaturan perjalanan dan aktivitas melalui rantai perjalanan. Kata-kata kunci: belanja kebutuhan sehari-hari, lokasi belanja, karakteristik perjalanan, perilaku perjalanan

Abstract

Abstract Shoppers consider many aspects in choosing specific location from variety of shopping location. Spatial analysis is used to determine the catchment area of shopping location based on the location of shoppers’ residence along with the correlation with shoppers’ activity and characteristic. The purposes of this study are to analyze the catchment area of shopping location in Bandung based on shopper’s preferences and to analyze the shopping travel pattern. The questionnaire data about the grocery shopping trip is analyzed using Thiessen Polygon and Buffering Method. The analysis shows that there is a mismatch between the market service coverage and the preferences of respondent destination. Analysis shows that shoppers will choose the shopping location by considering the distance of shopping location from home, travel costs, and travel duration in selecting any type of shopping location. Keywords: shopping location, spatial analysis, GIS, catchment area, shopping trip characteristics  Abstrak Ada banyak hal yang dipertimbangkan oleh pelaku belanja dalam memilih lokasi berbelanja yang beragam. Analisis spasial dipergunakan untuk menjelaskan daerah cakupan lokasi belanja berdasarkan lokasi tempat tinggal serta keterkaitannya dengan aktivitas dan karakteristik pelaku belanja. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah menganalisis daerah cakupan lokasi berbelanja pilihan pelaku belanja di Kota Bandung dan menganalisis pola perjalanan berbelanja. Data hasil penyebaran kuisioner mengenai perjalanan berbelanja kebutuhan sehari-hari dianalisis menggunakan Metode Thiessen Polygon dan Metode Buffer. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa terdapat ketidaksesuaian antara luas cakupan layanan suatu lokasi belanja dengan luas jangkauan layanan lokasi pilihan pelaku belanja. Analisis menunjukkan bahwa pelaku belanja memilih lokasi belanja dengan mempertimbangkan jarak dari tempat tinggal, durasi, dan biaya perjalanan. Kata-kata kunci: lokasi berbelanja, analisis spasial, GIS, daerah cakupan, karakteristik perjalanan berbelanja

Abstract

Abstract The rise of ride-sourcing service for cities mobility has change how people do travel and consequently disrupt transport ecosystem. This paper explore the travel behavior of ride-sourcing users based on travellers’ previous modes using discriminant analysis. For the purpose, the study collected data from a survey in the Bandung City in 2018. Analysis confirms the substitution effect of ride-sourcing from both private and public transport. Substitution effect occur from public transport than private car that tend to associated with younger traveller which have limitation access for private transport. The analysis found that ride-sourcing might be used for specific purposes only rather than for daily commuting, especially for users who previously use private car. Keywords: ridesourcing, previous mode, public transport, travel behavior  Abstrak Munculnya penggunaan angkutan online dalam mobilitas perkotaan telah mengubah cara orang melakukan perjalanan dan akibatnya mengganggu ekosistem transportasi. Makalah ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi perilaku perjalanan pengguna angkutan online berdasarkan moda berkendara sebelumnya menggunakan analisis diskriminan. Untuk tujuan tersebut, pada penelitian ini dikumpulkan data dari survei primer yang dilakukan di Kota Bandung pada tahun 2018. Analisis mengonfirmasi efek substitusi angkutan online transportasi pribadi dan transportasi publik. Efek substitusi terjadi dari angkutan umum daripada mobil pribadi yang cenderung merupakan pelaku perjalanan muda yang memiliki akses terbatas untuk angkutan pribadi. Analisis yang dilakukan menemukan bahwa angkutan online mungkin hanya digunakan untuk tujuan tertentu daripada untuk perjalanan sehari-hari, terutama untuk pengguna yang sebelumnya menggunakan mobil pribadi. Kata-kata kunci: angkutan online, moda sebelumnya, transportasi publik, perilaku perjalanan

Abstract

Abstract The shopping trip for everyone's daily needs is diverse. They have their own reasons to choose a shopping place that suits their needs. The aim of this study is to describe the characteristics of shoppers and their residential environment and to model the relationship of both variables. This study employed data from questionnaires distributed in Bandung City. Data were analyzed using ordinal regression method. The result of the analysis shows that the variables of residential environment condition significantly influence the shopping frequency. Keywords: shopping trip; residential environment; public transportation; shopping frequency.  Abstrak Perjalanan berbelanja untuk kebutuhan sehari-hari tiap orang berbeda-beda. Banyak alasan yang dimiliki setiap orang untuk memilih tempat belanja yang sesuai dengan keinginan mereka. Tujuan studi ini adalah mendes-kripsikan karakteristik pelaku belanja dan lingkungan tempat tinggal serta memodelkan hubungan keduanya. Studi ini menggunakan data hasil penyebaran kuesioner di Kota Bandung. Analisis data menggunakan metode regresi ordinal. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa variabel kondisi lingkungan tempat tinggal berpengaruh secara signifikan terhadap frekuensi berbelanja. Kata-kata kunci: perjalanan berbelanja; lingkungan binaan; kendaraan umum; frekuensi berbelanja.
