Abstract

A cooler box is a device used to store and keep ingredients cool and fresh. One of the efforts to develop a cooling source for made cooler boxes is to use a thermoelectric module TEC1-12715 that utilizes the Peltier effect. This study aims to determine the temperature reached in the cooler using TEC1- 12715 as a cooling device. The cooler box load without and with a cooling load (bottles filled with water with a volume of 600 ml each). The cooling load data and the coefficient of performance (COP) are displayed in a graph of observations every 6 minutes. All the analyzed data showed in the pictures and tables. The results showed that the cooler box temperature without load decreased by the increasing cooling time. The average temperature achieved was 17.08°C. The average water temperature in the cooler containing 2, 4, and 6 bottles of aqua was 21.56°C, 23.08°C, and 24.74°C, respectively. An increase in cooling load will increase the input power into the cooler box and lower the COP value of the cooling system

Abstract

Activated charcoal is a solid containing microporous carbon that can be used as an adsorbent and effectively adsorbs KMnO₄ solutions. The adsorbent’s ability to bind ethylene is influenced by the contact duration, which is a diffusion process between the activated charcoal and KMnO₄ compounds, acting as a strong oxidizing agent to break down the ethylene double bond naturally produced by fruit. This study aims to determine the effect and the best combination of interactions between the types of activated charcoal and the contact duration with potassium permanganate (KMnO₄) on the characteristics of avocado butter during 10 days of storage. The study used a two-factor Randomized Block Design (RBD). The first factor was contact duration, consisting of 10, 20, and 30 minutes, while the second factor was the type of activated charcoal, consisting of coconut shell and bamboo. The results showed that the interaction between treatments had a significant effect on the shelf life and characteristics of avocado butter, including weight loss, texture, total dissolved solids, pH value, and fruit shelf life. The best treatment was obtained using coconut shell activated charcoal with a 20-minute contact duration with KMnO₄ (P2A1), resulting in the lowest weight loss of 1.39%, the highest texture value of 88.22 N, the lowest total dissolved solids of 6.80 °Brix, the highest pH value of 6.97, and the best overall avocado butter characteristics during storage.

Abstract

The Management Performance Ratio (MPR) is a comparison between the water flowrate given and the water flowrate requirement for each agricultural land. The subak system in Bali is based on socio technical-religious and economic concepts. This study aims to calculate the MPR value and its distribution as well as find out the irrigation water distribution strategy so that irrigation performance becomes "adequate" to "good" in Subak Gede Kedewatan, Gianyar Regency. This research was carried out using a quantitative analysis approach through surveys and direct measurements in the field. The result showed that percentage distribution of MPR criteria for "good" was 5 subaks (18.52%), "adequate" 4 subaks (14.81%), "poor" 9 subaks (33.33%), and "very poor" 9 subaks (33 ,33%). The MPR value of subak in the upstream area is entirely in the "very poor" criterion with an MPR value of 1.85. Followed by subak in the central region, all of them are in the "low" criterion with an MPR value of 1.45. In contrast to the downstream, the subaks in this area have the criteria of "adequate" and "good" with a distribution of RPM values of 0.64 - 1.05. Subaks that get excess water, then the rest of the irrigation water is channeled to the pangkung, which will be the main water source for subak natak tiyis (tapping taps).

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the marketing distribution channel and analyze the absorption of paprika from the farmer in Baturiti district to the last costumers and calculate the marketing margins obtained in each distribution channel. This research was conducted in July-August 2018. This study used purposive sampling survey. There are five distribution channels of paprika from the farmers in Baturiti regency to the last costumers namely: 1st line (Farmers → Traditional Markets → Consumers), 2nd line (Farmers →Collectors → Suppliers → Consumers), 3rd line (Farmers → Collectors → Suppliers → Costumers), 4th line (Farmers → Collectors → Consumers), 5th line (Farmers → Suppliers → Consumers). The distribution shows that the market level of paprika and farmers’ production is 2655 monthly. The absorption of paprika distributed by farmers to collectors, suppliers, and traditional markets are 25.6 percent, 38.8 percent, and 35.6 percent. Paprika that is distributed by collectors to suppliers andtraditional markets are 19.6 percent and 6 percent. Suppliers obtain 58.4 percent paprika for farmers and is distributed to hotel or restaurant, supermarket and traditional markets each at 29.8 percent, 21.5 percent, and 7.1 percent. Based on the five channels obtained in this study, line III is the longest distribution channel, and lines III and V produce the highest marketing margins and profit margins. While line I is the shortest distribution channel and has the lowest marketing margins and profits. This is because the marketing costs incurred are small and the selling price at the last consumer level is also the lowest compared to the other five channels

Abstract

Rice is a staple food for the people of Indonesia. Even though Indonesia is an agrarian country, Indonesia currently imports rice. In producing rice from rice there are obstacles. One of the main obstacles is post-harvest handling of rice with high yield loss during post-harvest. The amount of post-harvest loss occursbecause most farmers still use traditional method or the handling is not good and right. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between the capacity of the grinding machine and the quality of sosoh rice produced by the mill and to know the quality comparison of various types of grinding machine capacity. The research was carried out in the area of Wanasari Village, Tabanan - Bali to find out the quality of sosoh rice in the region. Head Rice is broken rice grains, both healthy and defective, which have a size greater than or equal to 6/10 part of the average length size of whole rice grains that can pass through the surface of the indented plate basin with a requirement of 4.2 mm hole size. Rice hull is a protective cover from rice grains which is separated from seeds during the grinding process. In the grinding process, there is rice which remains the husk which is caused by the power / rpm of the grinding machine which is too low because the friction force produced by the engine is not sufficient for the overall release of rice hull
