Abstract

Literasi kritis merupakan kemampuan berpikir analitis dan reflektif yang sangat penting dimiliki oleh pendidik, terutama di tengah arus informasi digital yang cepat dan kompleks. Guru Bahasa Indonesia sebagai pengampu mata pelajaran berbasis teks memiliki peran strategis dalam menanamkan kemampuan literasi kritis kepada siswa. Namun, berdasarkan identifikasi lapangan, masih banyak guru yang belum memahami secara utuh konsep literasi kritis dan penerapannya dalam pembelajaran berbasis digital. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk memberikan pendalaman materi literasi kritis berbasis digital kepada guru-guru Bahasa Indonesia SMA se-Kabupaten Hulu Sungai Tengah. Kegiatan dilaksanakan dalam bentuk pelatihan interaktif, diskusi kelompok, dan simulasi pembelajaran yang berlangsung pada tanggal 21 April 2025 dan diikuti oleh 25 guru dari berbagai SMA. Hasil evaluasi menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan dalam pemahaman peserta terhadap konsep literasi kritis, serta kemampuan mereka dalam menyusun rencana pembelajaran yang mengintegrasikan pendekatan tersebut. Kegiatan ini diharapkan menjadi langkah awal dalam memperkuat kapasitas guru dalam membentuk generasi pembelajar yang kritis, adaptif, dan cakap digital.

Abstract

English language learning as a foreign language in Indonesia is often hindered by students' low motivation to learn independently. The concept of self-regulated learning (SRL), which emphasizes students' ability to manage their own learning, can be a potential solution to overcome this problem. However, teachers' understanding of the SRL concept is still minimal. This community service activity in the form of training aims to improve the knowledge and skills of English teachers in Banjarmasin city related to SRL. The community service activity was conducted by the PDWA Team of the English Education Study Program, FKIP, Lambung Mangkurat University. It was conducted over two days, covering the exposition of SRL concepts and strategies, as well as the design of SRL-based learning plans. The participants were 35 teachers from 35 SMPN in Banjarmasin who are members of MGMP Bahasa Inggris. The results showed a high level of interest and awareness among participants in developing SRL-based English language learning to increase students' motivation and active participation in the learning process. Thus, it can improve students' English proficiency. Several follow-up suggestions are proposed, including forming an SRL practitioner community, developing SRL-based learning materials, providing follow-up training, and collaborating with relevant parties.

Abstract

This article explores the noble values embedded within the "Angngaru" oral tradition of the Makassar culture, which serves as an important element of the region's intangible cultural heritage. "Angngaru" is a traditional form of oral expression practiced in Makassar society, characterized by poetic recitations that convey principles of honor, bravery, loyalty, and social harmony. Through a cultural and anthropological approach, this study aims to elucidate the symbolic meanings and philosophical insights that “Angngaru” imparts, reflecting the deeply rooted values of Makassar’s collective identity. The findings demonstrate that “Angngaru” not only strengthens communal bonds but also functions as a medium for transmitting ethical teachings and local wisdom across generations. By preserving “Angngaru”, Makassar society maintains a cultural foundation that supports moral integrity and resilience amid modernity's challenges. This study contributes to a deeper understanding of how oral traditions serve as vehicles for moral and ethical teachings in Indonesian cultural landscapes, specifically within the context of Makassar.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji integrasi antara manajemen, bisnis, sosial, dan pendidikan dalam membangun kewirausahaan berbasis karakter di era digital. Perkembangan teknologi yang pesat telah mengubah praktik bisnis dan menghadirkan berbagai tantangan baru, terutama terkait etika, tanggung jawab sosial, dan keberlanjutan usaha. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan pendekatan yang mengintegrasikan kompetensi manajerial, keterampilan bisnis, kesadaran sosial, serta nilai-nilai pendidikan. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan studi kepustakaan (library research) melalui analisis berbagai sumber literatur yang relevan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pengembangan kewirausahaan tidak hanya membutuhkan keterampilan teknis dan manajerial, tetapi juga pendidikan karakter dan tanggung jawab sosial yang kuat. Integrasi keempat aspek tersebut mampu menciptakan bisnis yang berkelanjutan dan memberikan kontribusi bagi kesejahteraan masyarakat. Penelitian ini merekomendasikan agar lembaga pendidikan mengembangkan kurikulum kewirausahaan yang berbasis nilai etika dan sosial untuk mempersiapkan generasi wirausaha yang kompeten dan bertanggung jawab.

Abstract

A teacher has a crucial role in motivating the students, especially in EFL. There should be a way that can make gamification as popular an activity as learning a language nowadays. Many students feel pressure to learn something new or even hard for them, especially in a monotonous way. Therefore, a teacher can create games as a kind of media in EFL teaching and learning activity. Games offer students a fun-filled and relaxing learning atmosphere and encourage, entertain, teach, and promote fluency and communicative skills. This research is descriptive qualitative research that the subjects are 30 students of the Intermediate Speaking Class at the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education at Lambung Mangkurat University. The result shows that there is a positive impact on students' motivation toward some games. They could speak more in a casual atmosphere in the speaking class and have better cooperation among the students during the reading class. The use of games that can motivate the students has been widely accepted as one of the critical factors influencing EFL learning success.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji implementasi pendidikan karakter berbasis nilai hukum dan sosial di era digital yang ditandai dengan pesatnya perkembangan teknologi informasi dan komunikasi. Era digital menghadirkan berbagai peluang sekaligus tantangan, terutama terkait degradasi moral, rendahnya kesadaran hukum, serta melemahnya nilai-nilai sosial di kalangan generasi muda. Oleh karena itu, pendidikan karakter menjadi sangat penting sebagai upaya membentuk individu yang tidak hanya cerdas secara intelektual, tetapi juga memiliki integritas moral, kesadaran hukum, dan tanggung jawab sosial. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan jenis studi literatur (library research). Data diperoleh dari berbagai sumber seperti buku, jurnal ilmiah, serta dokumen kebijakan yang relevan dengan tema penelitian. Analisis data dilakukan dengan teknik analisis isi (content analysis) melalui proses reduksi, penyajian, dan penarikan kesimpulan secara sistematis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pendidikan karakter berbasis nilai hukum dan sosial dapat diimplementasikan melalui integrasi dalam kurikulum, pembelajaran berbasis proyek, keteladanan guru, pemanfaatan teknologi secara bijak, serta kolaborasi antara sekolah, keluarga, dan masyarakat. Nilai hukum berperan dalam membentuk kesadaran terhadap aturan dan konsekuensi tindakan, sementara nilai sosial memperkuat sikap empati, toleransi, dan tanggung jawab dalam kehidupan bermasyarakat, termasuk di ruang digital.

Abstract

Background: This conceptual review proposes Literary Flourishing in TESOL as an interdisciplinary framework for humanizing literature-based English language education. This article addresses the continued prevalence of instrumental TESOL paradigms, where literature is frequently relegated to supplementary reading, cultural content, or a means of vocabulary and comprehension practice. The article develops a conceptual model that positions literary engagement as a catalyst for human flourishing and linguistic development, drawing on a range of disciplines including positive psychology, wellbeing education, and narrative theory. Methodology: The proposed PERMA-LIGHT model expands on the PERMA dimensions of wellbeing, which include positive emotion, engagement, relationships, meaning, and accomplishment, by incorporating literary, humanistic, and transformative dimensions such as literary empathy, identity formation, global and intercultural understanding, humanistic growth, and transformative reflection. The article also outlines WOLBEP, or Wellbeing-Oriented Literature-Based EFL Pedagogy, as a pedagogical framework comprising emotional engagement, narrative immersion, reflective meaning-making, dialogic interaction, transformative response, and flourishing reflection. Findings: The review asserts that literature-based TESOL can foster linguistic competence, emotional wellbeing, empathy, identity formation, resilience, intercultural understanding, and reflective agency. The article provides a model for curriculum design, literature-based pedagogy, teacher education, and future research on language education that fosters flourishing. Conclusion: The review concludes that literature-based TESOL should be repositioned from a supplementary language resource to a wellbeing-oriented pedagogy that develops linguistic competence alongside empathy, identity formation, intercultural understanding, and reflective growth. Originality: The originality of this article lies in proposing Literary Flourishing in TESOL and operationalising it through the PERMA-LIGHT model and WOLBEP framework, which integrate wellbeing, literary pedagogy, and transformative learning into a unified conceptual approach.
