Abstract

This research is entitled The Types and Information Structure of English Passive Sentence on the Novel Desecration. Basically active and passive sentences convey the same information with different syntactic and semantic structure. However, they have different focused meaning. It mainly aims at finding out: (1) the types and structure of passive sentence, and (2) the focused information in the passive sentence. Qualitative approach was used in this research and the data source was the novel entitled Desecration. The method used in collecting data was by using observation method followed by note taking technique. Intralingual comparison was used to analyze the classified data. The result of the analysis was presented by using formal and informal method.  It was found that there were some types of passive sentence: (1) based on the agent, there are long and short passive, and (2) based on the predicator, there are: monotransitive, bitransitive, bare, and adjectival passive. Each type of these passive sentences has different structure. Based on the information structure, the passive sentence has structure as (1) focus – topic, and (2) focus only. The writer was aware that this research has some limitation or shortage so it is hoped that this research could be continued in order that it gets better result for the society in general. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menyelidiki jenis afiks yang terjadi pada Dialek Masbagik. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif deskriptif. Penelitian ini menggunakan beberapa instrumen, yaitu: peneliti, daftar kata dan panduan wawancara. Informan dipilih berdasarkan kriteria tertentu. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ada 9 macam prefiks yang terjadi dalam dialek Masbagik. Ada 5 kata dengan awalan {be-}, 5 kata dengan awalan {m-}, 5 kata dengan awalan {me-} seperti, 5 kata dengan awalan {ng-}, 5 kata dengan awalan {nge-}, 5 kata dengan awalan {pe-}, 5 kata dengan awalan {seper}, 5 kata dengan awalan {sem-}, 5 kata dengan awalan {sen-}, dan 5 kata dengan awalan {te-}. Selanjutnya, ada 4 jenis sufiks yang terjadi dalam dialek Masbagik. Ada 5 kata dengan akhiran {-ang}, 5 kata dengan akhiran {-in}, 5 kata dengan akhiran {-k}, dan 5 kata dengan sufiks {-ye}. Selain itu, ada 2 macam konfiks yang terjadi dalam dialek Masbagik. Ada 3 kata dengan awalan {ku-} dengan akhiran {-k} dan 3 kata dengan awalan {m-} dengan akhiran {-an}Kata Kunci : Afiksasi, Dialek, Desa Masbagik This study aimed at investigating the kinds of affixes occurring in Masbagik Dialect. This study is a descriptve qualitative study. This study used some instruments, namely: researcher, word list and interview guide. The informants were selected based on certain criteria. The result showed that there were 9 kinds of prefixes which occurred in Masbagik dialect. There were 5 words with prefix {be-}, 5 words with prefix {m-}, 5 words with prefix {me-} such, 5 words with prefix {ng-}, 5 words with prefix {nge-}, 5 words with prefix {pe-}, 5 words with prefix {se-}, 5 words with prefix {sem-}, 5 words with prefix {sen-}, and 5 words with prefix {te-}. Furthermore, there were 4 kinds of suffixes which occurred in Masbagik dialect. Abstract

Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif kualitatif yang berusaha menemukan jenis-jenis slang dan mengamati fungsi-fungsi slang yang digunakan dalam film "Step Up: All In". Teori dari Allan dan Burridge (2006) tentang jeni-jenis slang dan teori dari Hymes tentang etnografi berbicara digunakan sebagai pedoman. Sehubungan dengan tujuan pertama, ada empat jenis-jenis slang yang ditemukan dalam film ini, yaitu fresh and creative, flippant, imitative, dan clipping. Penggunaan imitative mendominasi jenis slang yang digunakan pada film ini, dikarenakan pembicara tidak memerlukan pengetahuan tertentu dan dapat membuat slang jenis ini dengan mudah dengan meniru kata-kata yang sudah ada dan menyederhanakannya. Merujuk pada tujuan kedua, ada enam fungsi-fungsi slang yang ditemukan dalam film ini, yaitu to address, to form intimate atmosphere, to initiate relax conversation, to show impression, to show intimacy, dan to humiliate. Adapun, fungsi yang memiliki frekuensi paling tinggi adalah to address dan to initiate relax conversation. Dalam situasi informal, orang cederung menggunakan kata-kata slang untuk menciptakan suasana yang lebih santai dimana percakapan mereka dapat berjalan dengan lancar. Tujuan dari menggunakan kedua fungsi ini adalah untuk menjaga hubungan dekat mereka. Sebagai hasil, kedua fungsi ini dominan digunakan oleh karakter dalam film ini. Kata Kunci : deskriptif analisis, kata-kata slang, film This research is a descriptive qualitative research which attempts to find out slang types and observe slang functions used in “Step Up: All In” movie. The theory from Allan and Burridge (2006) about slang types and the theory from Hymes (1989) about ethnography of speaking were used as guidelines. Regarding to the first objective, there are four types of slang found in this movie, such as fresh and creative, flippant, imitative, and clipping. The occurrence of imitative dominates the slang type used in this movie, since the speakers do not require certain knowledge and can make this slang type easily by imitating the existing words and simplifying them. Referring to the second objective, there are six functions of slang discovered in this movie, such as to address, to form intimate atmosphere, to initiate relax conversation, to show impression, to show intimacy, and to humiliate. Therefore, the functions which have high frequency are to address and to initiate relax conversation. In informal situation, people tend to use certain kinds of addresses in addressing their close friends and use slang words since they want to create relax condition in which their conversation can run smoothly. The purpose of using these two functions is to maintain their close relationship. As a result these two functions are dominantly used by the characters in this movie.keyword : descriptive analysis, slang words, movie

Abstract

ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisa kasifikasi dari tindak tutur yang terjadi dalam dialog film Indonesia berjudul 5cm. Penelitian ini dilakukan secara deskrptif kualitatif. Data dianalisa sesuai dengan teori dari konteks yang di jabarkan oleh Leech (1983) dan Januarsdi (2012). Sedangkan Penganalisaan dari klasifikasi tindak tutur menggunakan teori yang di usulkan oleh Searle (1969) yang terdiri dari, representatif, direktif, komisif, ekspresif, dan deklarasi. Penelitian ini menemukan adanya 42 ujaran dianalisa dimana representative memperoleh 7 ujaran (17%), direktif 17 ujaran (40%), komisif 6 ujaran (14%), ekspresif 11 ujaran ( 26%) dan terakhir deklaratif 1 ujaran (2%). Selanjutnya penelitian ini menunjukan lima tipe konteks yang ditemukan ada 84 konteks dianalisa dimana konteks situasi memperoleh 42 (100%), konteks psikologi 38 (90%), konteks hubungan memperoleh 2(5%), dan konteks lingkungan dan konteks budaya memperoleh masing-masing hanya 1(2%). Implikasi dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mempelajari studi tentang pragmatik, khususnya tindak tutur agar dapat memahami maksud pembicara ketika mereka memproduksi ujaran dan untuk mengurangi salah paham tentang makna sehingga komunikasi menjadi lebih mudah dilakukan.Kata Kunci : Konteks, klasifikasi tindak tutur, analisa, film 5 cm ABSTRACT The aimed of this study to analyze the classification of speech acts and the context occurred in the dialogue of Indonesian movie entitled 5cm. This study was a descriptive qualitative. The data were analyzed based on theory of context proposed by Leech (1983) and Januarisdi (2012).Classifications of speech act proposed by Searle (1969) which consist of representative, directive, commissives, expressive and declaration. Findings of this study showed the five classification of speech acts found that there were 42 utterances analyzed where representative were 7 utterances (17%), directives 17 utterances (40%), commissives 6 utterances (14%), expressive 11 utterances (26%) and the last declaration 1 utterance (2%).Furthermore finding of this study showed five types of context that found there were 84 context analyzed where situational context were 42 (100%), psychological context were 38 (90%), relational context were 2 (5%), and environmental context and cultural context each of them only 1 (2%). The implication of this study to learn pragmatic especially speech act in order to understand the speaker’s intention when they produce utterances and to decrease miss understanding about the meaning so that communication will be easier to do. keyword : context,Classifications of speech act, analysis, 5cm movie

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan jenis-jenis afiks dan proses morfologi yang ditemukan dalam dialek Sembiran. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Tiga contoh informan dipilih berdasarkan kriteria. Data dikumpulkan berdasarkan tiga teknik, yaitu: observasi, teknik perekaman, dan teknik wawancara. Beberapa instrument yang digunakan untuk mengumpulkan data yaitu alat perekam, peneliti itu sendiri, panduan wawancara dan observasi. Ada empat proses dalam menganalisis data, diantaranya koleksi data, data reduction, data display dan conclusion drawing. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa ada 3 jenis afiks yang memiliki aturan penting dalam mengkonstruksi kata dalam dialek Sembiran. Ada empat jenis awalan yaitu {ke}, {n-}, {ma-}, dan {pati-}. Akhiran {-a}, {-an}, {-ang}, {-ȇ}, {-in}, {-nȇ} dan {-nya}. Confix {ma-an} dan {ma-ang}. Tidak ada infix ditemukan dalam dialek Sembiran. Imbuhan yang termasuk dalam proses turunan yaitu awalan {ma-} dan {n-}, { akhiran {-an}, {-ang}, {-in} dan confix {ma-an} yang termasuk dalam proses derivasi. Sementara itu, ada empat awalan, enam sufiks dan dua konfiks yang merupakan bagian dari proses infleksional dalam dialek Sembiran. Awalannya adalah {ke}, {ma-}, {n-} dan {pati-}, sufiksnya adalah {-a}, {-ang}, {-ȇ}, {-in}, {-nȇ}, {-nya}, dan konfigurasinya adalah {ma-an} dan {ma-ang}.Kata Kunci : Dialek Sembiran, Derivasi Morfologis, Infeksi Morfologis, Jenis-jenis afiks. The study aimed at describing the kinds of affixation and the morphological process are found in Sembiran dialect. This research is a descriptive qualitative research. There are three informant samples chosen based on a set of criteria. The obtained data are collected based on three techniques, namely: observation, recording, and interview techniques. The instruments used to collect the data are tape recorder, the researcher, interview guide and observation. There are four steps of analyzing the data, those are: data collection, data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing/verifying. The results of this study show that there are three kinds of affixes which have important rules in constructing the word in Sembiran dialect. Such as four kinds of prefix include {ke}, {n-}, {ma-}, and {pati-}. Suffix {-a}, {-an}, {-ang}, {-ȇ}, {-in}, {-nȇ}, and {-nya}. Confix {ma-}+{-an} and {ma-}+{-ang}. There is no infix found in Sembiran dialect. However the affixes which are belonged to derivational process such as prefix {ma-}, and {n-}, suffix {-an}, {-ang}, {-in} and confix {ma-an} which belong to a derivational process. Meanwhile, there are four prefixes, six suffixes and two confixes that belonged to an inflectional process in Sembiran dialect. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan mengidentifikasi pendidikan karakter pada tokoh utama dalam film Zootopia. Analisis tekstual digunakan untuk menganalisis media sebagai teks untuk memahami dan membuat makna untuk mengetahui bagaimana media tersebut dapat digunakan untuk berkomunikasi dan mendidik di anak-anak dan siswa. Media yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini untuk mengembangkan pendidikan karakter adalah film berjudul Zootopia. Dari 18 nilai pendidikan karakter yang dinyatakan dalam keputusan dari Menteri Pendidikan Nasional (2010: i-ii), 17 nilai ditemukan pada karakterisasi Judy Hopps sebagai karakter utama film Zootopia, nilai-nilai tersebut dapat diklasifikasikan menjadi tiga kelompok. Pertama, nilai-nilai yang sudah dimiliki oleh Judy Hopps dan dia mengembangkannya dengan baik di film seperti kerja keras, disiplin, bertanggung jawab, kreatif, menghargai prestasi, demokratis, patriotik, rasa ingin tahu, jujur, pedulian sosial, gemar membaca dan mudah bergaul. Kedua, nilai-nilai yang sudah dimiliki oleh Judy Hopps tetapi dia tidak mengembangkannya dengan baik di film seperti mandiri dan damai. Ketiga, nilai-nilai yang belum dimiliki oleh Judy Hopps pada awal film tetapi ia menumbuhkan dan mengembangkan niliai-nilai toleran, simpati, peduli lingkungan, dan kooperatif. Tiga penelitian sebelumnya digunakan sebagai pertimbangan untuk mengidentifikasi nilai-nilai pendidikan karakter. Nilai-nilai yang teridentifikasi pada karakterisasi Judy Hopps berfokus pada softskill karena ia memunculkan dan mengembangkannya dari pengalaman, situasi, kondisi, dan kemauan. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa media tidak hanya digunakan untuk menghibur tetapi juga mendidik, oleh karena itu, semoga dosen, guru, calon guru, orang tua atau masyarakat dan pemerintah dapat memanfaatkan film ini sebagai media untuk anak-anak dan siswa dalam meningkatkan pendidikan karakter melalui pengalaman, situasi, kondisi dan kemauan sebagaimana tercermin pada karakterisasi Judy Hopps.Kata Kunci : pendidikan karakter, film, media, analisis tekstual This study aimed at identifying the character education on the main character of Zootopia. Textual analysis was used in order to analyze the media as a text to understand and make meaning of it in order to know how it can be used to communicate and educate among children and students. The media that was used in this research on developing character education was film entitled Zootopia. From 18 character education values that was stated in decision from Minister of National Education (2010: i-ii), 17 values are found on Judy Hopps’s characterization as the main character of Zootopia which those values can be classified into three types. Firstly, the values that already had by Judy Hopps and she developed it well on the film like persistent, committed, disciplined, responsible, creative, appreciative, democratic, patriotic, discoverable, honest, social care, bibliophile and sociable. Secondly, the values that already had by Judy Hopps but she does not develop it well on the film like autonomous and peaceful. Thirdly, the values that are not had yet in the initial film but she was raised and developed it on the middle until the end of film like tolerant, sympathy, environmental awareness, cooperative and inquisitive. Three previous researches were used as consideration on identifying the values of character education. The values that are identified on Judy Hopps’s characterization focus on the soft skill because she raises and develops it because of the experiences, situations, conditions and willingness. It could be concluded that media are not only used to entertain but also educate, hence, hopefully lecturer, teachers, future teacher, parents or society and government could utilize this film as media to children and students in raising character education education through experiences, situations, conditions and willingness as reflected on the Judy Hopps’s characterization. keyword : character education, film, media, textual analysis.

Abstract

Tujuan utama dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis kata-kata umpatan yang digunakan oleh orang-orang di desa Sidatapa. Untuk mencapai tujuan ini, penelitian ini menggunakan penelitian kualitatif deskriptif, yang dilakukan dengan mengamati, mewawancarai subjek, dan rekaman audio. Subjek penelitian ini adalah 10 orang yang berasal dari desa Sidatapa. Hasil penelitian ini menemukan bahwa kata-kata umpatan yang digunakan oleh orang-orang di desa Sidapa memiliki bentuk, referensi, dan fungsinya. Ada tiga bentuk kata-kata umpatan: (1) dalam bentuk kata-kata, yang dibagi menjadi dua: monomorphemic (sigug 'nakal', bancih 'waria', kables 'berhubungan seks', dll) dan polimorfik (bebereke 'putrid', nusuk 'aduk', ngamah 'makan', dll.), (2) dalam bentuk frasa (belog-beloge 'sangat bodoh', sedeng gati 'sangat gila', lengeh buah 'sangat bodoh', dll), dan (3) dalam bentuk klausa (buduh mene 'kamu bodoh', lengeh mene, 'kamu bodoh', ngamah gro gaen mene 'kamu selalu makan', dll). Referensi dari kata-kata umpatan itu terkait dengan: (a) aktivitas, (b) istilah hewan, (c) fungsi tubuh, (d) kotoran, (e) iblis, (f) kekerabatan, (g) penyakit mental, (h) penyakit mental, ) latar belakang pribadi dan (i) agama. Fungsi kata-kata umpatan adalah: (a) agresif, (b) integratif, (c) untuk membuat identifikasi antarpribadi, (d) untuk memberikan katarsis, (e) penekanan, (f) untuk memprovokasi, (g) untuk menarik perhatian, dan (h) regresif. Dalam hal ini, penggunaan kata makian di desa Sidatapa tidak hanya dalam bentuk makna negatif tetapi juga positif seperti, untuk mengurangi rasa sakit mereka dan juga kesusahan.Kata Kunci : bentuk, fungsi, kata umpatan The main objective of this study is to analyze the swear words used by people in Sidatapa village. To achieve this goal, this study used descriptive qualitative research, which was conducting by observing, interviewing the subjects, and audio recording. The subject of this study were 10 people originally from Sidatapa village. The results of this study found that swear words used by the people in Sidapa village have their forms, references, and functions. There are three forms of swear words: (1) in the form of words, which divided into two: monomorphemic (sigug ‘mischievous’, bancih ‘transvestite’, kables ‘having intercourse’, etc) and polymorphemic (bebereke ‘putrid’, nusuk ‘poke’, ngamah ‘eat’, etc.), (2) in the form of phrases (belog-beloge ‘very stupid’, sedeng gati ‘very crazy’, lengeh buah ‘very stupid’, etc.), and (3) in the form of clauses (buduh mene ‘you are stupid’ , lengeh mene , ‘you are stupid’, ngamah gro gaen mene ‘you always eat’, etc.). The references of the swear words were related to: (a) activity, (b) animal terms, (c) body function, (d) excrement, (e) devils, (f) kinship, (g) mental illness, (h) personal background and (i) religion. The functions of swear words were: (a) aggressive, (b) integrative, (c) to create interpersonal identification, (d) to provide catharsis, (e) emphasis, (f) to provoke, (g) to draw attention, and (h) regressive. In this case, the used of swear word in Sidatapa village was not only in the form of negative meaning but also positive such as, for reducing their pain and also distress.keyword : Keywords: forms, function, swear word

Abstract

There are two functions of language, namely commucative and expressive. As people listen to the music through its lyrics, language tends to be expressive since it is able to convey the meaning and background of the song. Figurative language is used to create a special effect ot the audiences. Figurative language carries non-literal meaning which helps the songwriters to convey the meaning of their songs.  Therefore, this study aimed at identifying and describing the type and the meanings of figurative language which were used in Eminem’s song lyrics and determining the dominant type of figurative language used in the songs lyrics. This research used descriptive qualitative as the method. In collecting the data, the researcher used library research (reading and noting), since the data were already existed in the form of documentation (song lyrics). After the data were collected, the data were analyzed by using Cresswell’s theory. From the analysis, the researcher found that there are 136 data containing figurative language and 12 types of figurative language which are used in the song lyrics. Simile type of figurative language is mostly used in the song lyrics. Therefore, it is suggested that the students keep learning to do figurative language analysis in literary works in order to enrich their insight about figure of speech.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kesalahan-kesalahan tata bahasa pada tulisan recount yang dibuat oleh siswa-siswa di SMA N 4 Singaraja tahun ajaran 2018. Penelitian ini dilakukan melalui deskriptif kualitatif. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mencari kesalahan tata bahasa yang dibuat oleh siswa. Subjek dari penelitian ini adalah 59 siswa dari kelas X MIPA 3 dan X MIPA 6. Metode yang digunakan untuk mengumpulkan data adalah analisa dokumen dan wawancara. Selain itu, sumber dari kesalahan-kesalahn yang dibuat siswa adalah kesalahan intralingual, kesalahan interlingual, dan strategi komunikasi. Penelitian ini juga mengandung saran untuk para guru agar lebih perhatian pada kesulitan siswa dalam mengerti dan memberi banyak latihan. Strategi ini dapat membantuk siswa untuk lebih terbiasa dengan tata bahasa dari bahasa target.Kata Kunci : Tata Bahasa, Kesalahan, Tulisan This study aimed at analyzing of grammatical error in students’ writing recount text committed by tenth grade students of Sma n 4 Singaraja in academic year 2018. It was conducted through descriptive qualitative. This study is intended to find out the error committed by students. The subjects of this study were 59 students of X Mipa 3 and Mipa 6. The method were document analysis and interview. There were 340 errors which were classified into 15 types. Besides, the sources of those errors were intralingual error, interlingual error, and communication strategy. It is futher suggested for the teachers to pay more attention to students' difficulties in learning grammar. The teachers were expected to ask the students about which part were still difficult to understand and gave many practices. This strategy could help students to be more familiar with the grammar of targer language.keyword : Grammar, Error, Writing

Abstract

This research studied about English and Javanese simple sentences which aimed to find the similarities and differences between English simple sentences and Javanese language. This study is descriptive qualitative research that applied contrastive analysis as the methodology. The data were taken from English textbooks and Javanese magazines. The results of this study showed there were similarities and differences in English and Javanese language simple sentences. The similarities were (1) some of simple sentence have similar patterns were SP for verbal sentence and SPO patterns. (2) the major elements were subject and predicator. The differences were (1) Javanese language had SP pattern for nominal, adjectival, prepositional, and numeral sentence. While in English there was no pattern. (2) In English, predicator must be in verb phrase: auxiliary verbs, linking verbs, or action verbs. However, In Javanese language, the predicator of a sentence might be in verb phrase, adjectival phrase, and prepositional phrase.
