Abstract

ABSTRACT   Nygaard Index can be used to determine the trophic state of waters. Calculation of this index is based on the number of phytoplankton species in these following groups, namely Desmidiaceae, Myxophyceae, Chlorococcales, Centric diatom and Euglenophyceae. To understand the trophic state of the Tanjung Putus lake, a research has been conducted in February - March 2018. There were three sampling stations, namely station 1 (inlet area), station 2 (the middle of the lake) and station 3 (out let area). In each station there were two sampling points, in the surface and 2 secchi depth. Sampling were conducted 3 times, once/week. Water quality parameters measured were phytoplankton (type and abundance), transparency, temperature, pH, nitrate, phosphate, Dissolved oxygen and free carbon dioxide. Results shown that there were 6 groups of phytoplankton present, namely Desmidiaceae (6 species), Myxophyceae (3 species), Chlorococcales (9 species), Centric diatom (5 species), Cryptophyceae (2 species) and Euglenophyceae (2 species). Water quality parameters were as follows: transparency 77.5-102.5 cm, temperature 30-32 0C, pH 5, nitrate 0.04-0.07 mg/L, phosphate 0.03-0.09 mg/L, Dissolved oxygen 4.1-6.5 mg/L, free carbon dioxide 6.6-11.9 mg/L, Nygaard Index value : 2 – 2.6. Based on Nygard Index, the trophic state of the Tanjung Putus Lake can be categorized as mesotrophic to eutrophic. Keywords: Nutrient, Phytoplankton, Mesotrophic, Eutrophic

Abstract

Abstract Several activities in the Bakuok Lake contribute the input of organic and inorganic matters to the waters, and thus increase the concentration of nitrate and phosphate in the water. A research aims  to  understand the relationship between organic matter and  nutrients (Nitrate and Phosphate) in the Bakuok Lake has been carried out in June-July 2019. There were three stations namely station 1 (around the plantation area), station 2 (in the middle of the lake) and station 3 (around the net cage area).  Each station has 2 sampling points namely the surface and 2 Secchi depth. Sampling was done 3 times, once/week. Water quality parameters measured were biochemical oxygen demand, dissolved oxygen, free carbon dioxide, nitrate, phosphate, temperature, transparency, pH, and ammonia. The water quality value were as follows: biochemical oxygen demand 4.80-6.32 mg/L, dissolved oxygen 6.57-7.54 mg/L, carbon dioxide 9.37-13.86 mg/L,  nitrate 0.0207-0.0319 mg/L, phosphate 0.0385-0.0553 mg/L, temperature 29.3-31.3oC, transparency 58-87 cm, pH 5, and ammonia 0.0132-0.0165 mg/L. The relationship between organic matter with nitrate and phospate was 0.96 or very strong. Keywords: Oxbow Lake, Nutrients, Water Quality

Abstract Koto Tibun Reservoir is one of the reservoirs that exist in Riau Province precisely on the road crossing Pekanbaru-Bangkinang km. 43, Kampar District. These reservoirs are used for agriculture irrigation, aquaculture water supply and other needs. The research aims to understand the limnological condition in the Koto Tibun Reservoir based on physical – chemical parameters was conducted from February - March 2018. There are 3 stations, namely Station 1 (riverine zone), Station 2 (transition zone), and Station 3 (lacustrine). Sample were taken once/week for a 3 weeks period. Water quality parameters measured were temperature, transparancy, depth, water current, DO, CO2 free, pH, nitrate and phosphate concentration. Result shown that the temperature was 25,3 - 25,6 0C, transparancy 75 - 79 cm, depth 3,11 -  3,54 m, water current 0,16 - 0,40 m/second, DO 4,78 - 5,62 mg/L, CO2 free 18,64 - 19,44 mg/L, pH 5, nitrate 0,186 - 0,193 mg/L and phosphate 0,093 - 0,113 mg/L.  Based on nitrate and phosphate concentrations in Koto Tibun Reservoirs waters can be categorize oligotrophic and mesotrophic - eutrophic conditions.Keyword : Koto Tibun Reservoir, Aquaculture, Water Quality, Trophic Status

Abstract

ABSTRACT               Carrying capacity is defined as the ability of aquatic environment to support the life of organisms in that area. A study aims to assess the extensive fishing carrying capacity of the FPK reservoir based on primary productivity (chlorophyll-a content), has been conducted in November-Desember 2018. There were 3 stations, namely Station 1 (inlet area), Station 2 (in the middle of the reservoir) and Station 3 (outlet area). Water quality parameters measured were temperature, transparency, pH, dissolved oxygen, CO2, nitrate, phosphate, and chlorophyll-a concentration. The concentration of chlorophyll-a indicates that the extensive fishing’s carrying capacity of the reservoir was 0.31 tons/year. Water quality parameters were as follows: transparency ranges from 66.7-106.8 cm, temperature   28-29°C, pH 6, dissolved oxygen 2.52-2.66 mg/L, free CO2 6.7-9.83 mg/L, nitrate 0.3667-0.4118 mg/L, phosphate 0.2080-0.2154 mg/L, and concentration of chlorophyll-a was 12.78-15.96 µg/L. Keywords:Carrying capacity, Produktivitas Primer, Fitoplankton, Reservoir, Water quality

Abstract

ABSTRACT Periphyton is microorganism that live attached to submerged substrate. In the vicinity of Koto Panjang Dam Site there are fish farming activities in floating net cages, which produce feed residu and metabolic waste. This research aims to determine periphyton community around the Dam Site of the Koto Panjang Reservoir. This research was conducted in December 2020. There were 3 stations, namely station 1 (less KJA), station 2 (moderate KJA), and station 3 (full KJA). The subtrate used is ceramic substrate with a size (8x3 cm2). Substrate was planted 1 week before sampling. Sampling were conducted 3 times at once a week. The periphyton samples were obtained by spraying the surface of ceramic substrate with aquadest using a plastic sprayer. Periphyton were preserved with lugol 1%, then identified and abundance counted. Water quality parameters measured were temperature, transparency, pH, dissolved oxygen, free carbondioxide, nitrate, and phosphate. Results shown that there were 36 types of periphyton, belongs to 7 classes, namely Bacillariophyceae (6 types), Chlorophyceae (17 types), Cyanophyceae (3 types), Trebouxiphyceae (4 types), Zygnematophyceae (4 types), Euglenophyceae (1 type), dan Dinophyceae (1 type). Periphyton abundance during the study ranged from 2.479-10.357 cells/cm2. Two way anova test on the number of species and periphyton abundance around the Dam Site of PLTA Koto Panjang Reservoir showed that the number and abundance of periphyton were not significantly diffrerent between stations and between times. Keywords:Periphyton, PLTA Koto Panjang Reservoir, Ceramic Substrate, Net       Floating Cage, Water Quality
