Abstract

Abstract

Small ball game sports are a category of sports that involve small-sized balls and bats. Examples of these sports include badminton, rounders, baseball, softball, tennis, and others. Indonesia has not yet achieved notable achievements in small ball game sports. To improve performance and achieve better results, athletes must maintain optimal performance levels. It is crucial to identify and optimize all factors affecting the performance of small ball game athletes to help them reach their full potential. Optimal physical condition is the most essential factor for athletes. Physical fitness can be improved through the right combination of frequency, intensity, duration, and types of exercise. Another factor that affects athletic performance is nutrition, including macronutrients such as carbohydrates, proteins, and fats, as well as micronutrients like vitamins and minerals. Athletes have different nutritional needs compared to non-athletes. Furthermore, nutritional requirements vary across different sports disciplines and are highly individualized. Psychological factors also significantly affect an athlete's performance. An athlete's psychological state greatly influences their concentration during competitions and plays a crucial role in their ability to perform at their best. Key psychological aspects to consider include discipline, motivation, self-confidence, and personality. To achieve optimal performance, athletes require physical training, nutritional monitoring, and psychological support.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of differences resulting from the combination of HIIT with recovery models in active and passive forms on the quality of VO2max and monitoring of heart-rate recovery. This study was designed using a quasi-experimental design, and 30 participants participated voluntarily in the study which was further divided into three groups: HIIT-PP experiment (n:10; Age: 21.0±0.82; Weight: 67.2±13.6; Height: 1.68±0.07), HIIT-PP experiment (n=10; Age: 21.1±1.20; Weight: 64.9±6.07; Height: 1.68±0.04), and control group (n=10; Age: 21.09±1.29; Weight: 69.3±5.46; Height 1.69±0.05). This research instrument uses Multistage Fitness Test (MFT) and Heart-Rate Monitoring. The procedure for analyzing the statistical research data used the Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) test with a p-value <0.05. The results showed that the parameter differences between the experimental and control groups significantly improved the quality of VO2max and monitoring of heart-rate recovery (HRM, and HRR 2min, 5min, 10min). This study can conclude that using HIIT with recovery models in passive forms for eight weeks resulted in a change in the quality of VO2max and monitoring of heart rate recovery.

Abstract

ABSTRACT. Cerium barium ferrite composites (CeBFCs) with improved microwave absorbance in the X-band spectral region are advantageous for varied advanced applications. Thus, the influence of various sintering temperatures on the microwave-absorbing traits of CeBFCs was evaluated. The main objective was to enhance the selective microwave absorption of BFC by modifying its magnetic properties through the substitution of Fe³⁺ with Ce³⁺ in the lattice structures. Four composites of CeBF were synthesized via mechanical alloying and sintered at 600, 800, 1000, and 1100°C. The produced samples were analyzed using XRD, VSM, and VNA to determine their microstructures, magnetic properties, and microwave reflection loss at X-band frequencies. XRD results revealed a significant promotion in forming a more pure crystalline barium hexaferrite phase at sintering temperatures higher than 800°C. This structural enhancement could directly influence the magnetic properties of the specimens with a progressive increase in the saturation magnetization with rising sintering temperature. In addition, the sintering temperature variation effectively modulated the electromagnetic properties (complex relative permeability and permittivity) that are vital for impedance matching and optimal wave absorption. The composite sintered at 1000°C displayed an optimal microwave absorption, indicating the lowest reflection loss within the X-band. The obtained products were shown to attenuate and dissipate surplus electromagnetic energy within the 8-12 GHz frequency range. The observed superior performance of the composites was ascribed to a balanced interplay between the magnetic and dielectric losses, leading to efficient impedance matching. It was affirmed that careful tuning of the sintering temperature can improve the crystalline phases, magnetic, electromagnetic, and microwave absorption properties of the proposed CeBFCs. Abstract

In addition to good physical and psychological conditions, recovery is another important component that athletes must meet to support success in the field. This study aims to determine the effect of active and passive recovery on plyometric exercises on speed and power. The type used in this study is quasi-experimental. The sample of this research is 44 athletes from Lampung Province who will compete for Pekan Olahraga Nasional (PON) 2021 Papua. The plyometric exercises applied are plyometric exercises (multiple hops and jump variations). After doing the plyometric exercises, active and passive recovery is applied. The speed research instrument is the 30 m sprint test for power using a vertical jump. Analysis of the data used: paired test analysis and independent sample test. The results obtained are that plyometric exercises on active and passive recovery affect athletes' speed and power abilities. Although it affects performance, in the effectiveness test, the speed of active recovery is better than passive recovery. As for power, both of them do not have the level of effectiveness between passive and active recovery. The study's results are expected to be a reference to be included in the training program using the plyometric model with active and passive recovery to support the success of the Lampung Province athletes in 2021.
