Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of KOH concentration and reaction time on the flash point and pour point of biodiesel from kapok seed oil. The biodiesel transesterification process is carried out in a batch reactor equipped with stirrer. The first step in this research is to reduce the free fatty acid content (esterification process). The second step is transesterification of biodiesel from kapok seed oil. The concentrations of KOH used in this research were 0.5, 1.0, 1.5, and 2.0% by weight of the oil and the reaction time were 0.25, 0.5, 1.0, and 1.5 hours. The operating conditions used in this study were a temperature of 60 oC and a pressure of 4 bar. The results showed that the concentration of KOH and reaction time had a significant effect on the flash point and pour point of biodiesel. The best flash point and pour point were obtained at a concentration of 0.5% KOH and a reaction time of 1.5 hours, which were 163 oC and -8 oC.

Abstract

Papaya leaves contain antibacterial compounds such as flavonoids, terpenoids, alkaloids, tannins, and saponins.. Tannins are compounds that are often used as antibacterial, antioxidant, pest control, plant fungi, tanners and as a corrosion inhibitor.In this study, the value of the mass transfer coefficient was determined. This study used two varied operating conditions, namely stirring rotational speed (100, 200, 300 rpm) and extraction time (30, 60, 90, 120, and 150 minutes). The extraction process is carried out using a stirred extractor at a temperature of 65 ° C.The value of the mass transfer coefficient obtained is 0.00004 second-1 (100 rpm), 0.00005 second-1 (200 rpm), and 0.00007 second-1 (300 rpm) for the best concentration obtained at 150 minutes with speed turn the stirrer 300 rpm

Abstract

The aims of this study were to determine the effect NaOH concentration and residence time on the conversion of calcium (Ca2+) and magnesium (Mg2+) removal as impurities. The concentration of NaOH used in this study were 0.05N, 0,1N, 0.15N, and 0,2N. The reactor used in this study is an baffled reactor equipped with air as a stirrer with air flow rates of 10000, 15000, 20000, 25000, and 30000 ml/minute. The ratio between the flow rate of seawater toward the flow rate of NaOH solution in this study was 85ml/minute : 25ml/minute.The results showed that the NaOH concentration and residence time had a significant effect on the conversion of removal of (Ca2+) and magnesium (Mg2+) impurities. The best results were obtained at 0.25N NaOH concentration, residence time of 13,08 minute, and gas flow rate of 30000ml/minute with removal conversion of calcium (Ca2+) of 73.083% and magnesium (Mg2+) of 89.621%.

Abstract

Clove essential oil is processed product of clove leaves which is used as perfumes and medicines. In general, the method used to extract clove leaf essential oil is the steam distillation method. This method has not maximized the yield essential oils produced because a lot of essential oils are still trapped in plant tissues. Modification of the essential oil isolation methods to produce more yields needs to be done, one of which is the fermentation method with the help Rhizopus oligosporus before the distillation process is carried out. The fermentation method is able to destroy the oil tissues on the leaves using enzymes produced by rhizopus oligosporus. The aims of this study were to isolate the essential oil clove leaves and look for the effect of the mass and fermentation time on the yield and content of clove leaf essential oil compounds produced. The results showed that the isolation  essential oils using fermentation methods was successfully carried out, the mass and fermentation time had a significant influence on the yield and content of essential oil chemical compounds. The best result was obtained at a mass of 35 grams with a fermentation time of 36 hours with a yield 0.32% and the content eugenol, caryopillene compounds obtained respectively at 93.43% and 2.28%.

Abstract

Industri batik tergolong industri dalam jumlah besar dan berbahaya. Salah satu limbah yang dihasilkan adalah limbah cair yang mengandung ion krom (Cr 6+). Cairan limbah yang dikeluarkan sangat keruh, berwarna, dan memiliki pengelolaan yang busuk sehingga menimbulkan masalah serius bagi badan air, masyarakat, dan lingkungan. Limbah tanpa perlakuan khusus dibuang ke lingkungan. Sehingga metode pertukaran ion dapat mengurangi pencemaran lingkungan akibat limbah industri batik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh resin dalam menurunkan kandungan ion kromium pada limbah cair industri batik dengan menggunakan metode pertukaran ion. Yaitu dengan menggunakan dua kondisi operasi yang divariasikan yaitu berat resin (40, 60, 80, 100, dan 120 gram) dan kecepatan pengadukan (150, 175, 200, 225, dan 250 rpm). Ion kromium yang bermuatan positif akan bertukar dengan H +ion yang ditemukan dalam resin dowex. Sehingga kandungan krom pada limbah cair batik dapat dikurangi. Hasil tersebut diperoleh dari kecepatan pengadukan dan berat resin yang digunakan. Penurunan kandungan ion chromium tertinggi terjadi pada kecepatan pengaduk 250 rpm dengan berat resin 120 gram sebesar 97,86%.

Abstract

Sanitasi makanan adalah kegiatan yang dilakukan untuk membebaskan makanan dari kontaminasi makanan sehingga makanan tetap aman selama proses produksi makanan mulai dari penanganan bahan baku sampai distribusi produk kepada konsumen. Pengetahuan sanitasi sangat penting dimiliki oleh para pelaku industri makanan terutama pemilik usaha mikro kecil dan menengah (UMKM). Pengetahuan sanitasi yang baik akan mendukung terciptanya produk yang bersih, aman bebas dari bahaya kesehatan. Edukasi tentang sanitasi makanan dilakukan kepada UD Sumber Rejeki yang bergerak pada produksi kerupuk ikan di kota Surabaya. Pelaksanaan pengabdian masyarakat berlangsung dalam dua tahap. Tahap pertama adalah proses koordinasi dengan mitra untuk melaksanakan rangkaian kegiatan. Tahap kedua adalah kegiatan inti yang terdiri dari pre-test, edukasi dan post-test. Materi yang disampaikan antara lain personal hygiene, sanitasi peralatan, dan sanitasi ruangan. Hasil pengamatan setelah kegiatan menunjukkan bahwa penerapan sanitasi yang ada di UD Sumber Rejeki terjadi peningkatan positif. Pengetahuan tentang sanitasi meningkat dari 62% menjadi 82% dan pada penerapannya meningkat dari 44% menjadi 56%. Dari hasil kegiatan tersebut dapat dikatakan bahwa edukasi dalam bentuk penyuluhan merupakan salah satu cara efektif dalam menyampaikan materi sanitasi pada mitra. Hasil positif yang dicapai yaitu peningkatan pengetahuan sanitasi sebesar 10% dan penerapan program sanitasi sebesar 12%. Kata kunci: Kerupuk Ikan, Sanitasi, UMKM ABSTRACT Food sanitation is the practice of following certain rules and procedures to prevent the contamination of food, keeping it safe to eat during food processing from material handling to distribution. Sanitation knowledge is very important for food industry, especially UMKM (usaha kecil mikro dan menengah). Sanitation supports food products that are clea, safe and free from health hazards. Education was carried out to UD Sumber Rejeki, fish cracker industry in Surabaya. The program is implemented in two stages. The first stage is coordination with partner. The second stage consist of pre-test, counseling, and post-test. The content delivered includes personal hygiene, equipment sanitation and room sanitation. The result of post-activity observation showed that implementation of sanitation in UD Sumber Rejeki had a postif increase. Knowledge of sanitation increased from 62% to 82% and in practice increased from 44% to 56%. From the results of this activities, it can be said that counseling is an effective way to convey to sanitation knowledge to partners. Postif results were achieved for sanitation knowledge by 10%, and implemention of sanitation program by 12%. Keywords: Fish Cracker, Sanitation, UMKM

Abstract

Permasalahan yang terjadi pada mitra (UD Sumber Rejeki) adalah minimnya pengetahuan tentang sanitasi makanan pada produksi kerupuk ikan. Hal ini dapat terlihat dari kondisi peralatan yang digunakan dalam produksi kerupuk ikan yang belum sepenuhnya dipisahkan antara peralatan proses produksi dan peralatan rumah tangga. Kurangnya pengetahuan mitra juga ditunjukkan pada saat proses produksi belum menggunakan baju produksi (apron), topi koki, dan dalam produksi kerupuk ikan belum memenuhi kaidah atau pedoman Cara Produksi Pangan Olahan yang Baik (CPPOB). Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk menerapkan dan meningkatkan sanitasi makanan pada produksi kerupuk ikan sesuai dengan kaidah CPPOB. Metode yang digunakan pada kegiatan ini adalah melakukan sosialisasi, pendampingan, dan edukasi tentang penerapan dan peningkatan sanitasi serta penggunaan peralatan yang sesuai dengan kaidah CPPOB. Metode lainnya adalah membantu pengadaan baju produksi (apron), topi koki, booklet yang berisikan sanitasi diri, bahan baku, peralatan, dan sanitasi ruangan. Hasil dari kegiatan ini adalah mitra sangat antusias dalam menerima materi yang disampaikan dan berkomitmen untuk menerapkan dan meningkatkan sanitasi serta penggunaan peralatan sesuai dengan kaidah CPPOB, adanya baju produksi (apron), topi koki, masker, tempat sampah, dan booklet. Kata kunci: CPPOB, Manajemen produksi, Produksi kerupuk ikan, Sanitasi, UD sumber rejeki ABSTRACT The problem that occurs to partner (UD Sumber Rejeki) is the lack of knowledge about food sanitation in fish crackers production. This can be seen from the condition of the equipment used in the production of fish crackers that has not been completely separated between the production process equipment and household appliances. The lack of knowledge of partner is also shown when the production process does not use apron, chef’s hat, and fish crackers production does not meet the rules for CPPOB. This aims to implement and improve food sanitation in fish crackers production in accordance with CPPOB principles. The method used in this activity is to conduct socialization, mentoring, and counseling on the implementation and improvement of sanitation and the use of equipment in according with CPPOB principles. Another method is to help procure apron, chef’s hat, booklets containing personal sanitation, raw materials, equipment, and room sanitation. The results of this activity is that the partner is very enthusiastic in receiving the material presented and is committed to implementing and improving sanitation and the use of equipment in accordance with CPPOB principles, the existence of apron, chef’s hat, masks, trash bins, and booklets. Abstract

Bulu tangkis merupakan salah satu jenis olahraga yang memiliki banyak peminat khusunya anak – anak,  dan membutuhkan kemampuan fisik. Meskipun terbilang mudah untuk dilakukan, jika tidak dibekali teknik dasar yang benar, maka bulu tangkis dapat menyebabkan risiko cedera pada anak-anak. Oleh karena itu, tujuan dari kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini adalah memberikan pengenalan teknik dasar dalam bermain bulu tangkis pada anak – anak di Dusun Congkop, Desa Keboansikep, Kabupaten Sidoarjo. Metode pengabdian yang digunakan adalah ceramah dan pelatihan. Hasil dari kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini yaitu anak – anak dapat menambah wawasan dan skill mereka dalam bermain bulu tangkis. Kegiatan ini juga diharapkan mampu memotivasi mereka untuk menjaga kesehatan dengan rutin berolahraga

Abstract

The essential oil from crystal seedless guava leaves has several utilization as an antioxidant and antimicrobial active compound. Essential oil extraction with maceration and conventional method has many disadvantages, so the microwave hydrodistillation method is used as an alternative to optimizing its quantity and quality. This research aims to obtain the effect of microwave power and feed to the solvent ratio toward essential oil yield. The extraction of essential oil used crystal guava leaves with feed and solvent ratio (w/v) 1:4; 1:5; 1:6; 1:7. The extraction process was carried out at atmospheric pressure and 100 oC with an electrical power of microwave from 300, 450, and 600 watts over 3 hours. The result shows that microwave power and the ratio of feed to solvent (F/S) give a significant ratio to essential oil yield. Its yield rises significantly along with increasing microwave power and ratio of feed and solvent. The highest yield is obtained at 600 watts and 1:7 (w/v) ratio that is 1.0 %.

Abstract

The aims of this brief overview are providing the knowledge about the physical and chemical properties of perovskite oxides in various synthesis method and the correlation of its performance for separating oxygen from air. Perovskite oxide showed excellent conductor of ion and electron, simultaneously through oxygen lattice in the crystal structure. In the present review, we have presented the detail on the crystal structure and the factor that affect the pseudo-crystal, various synthesis method i.e., solid-state, sol-gel, combustion, and co-precipitation. It has been completed with the discussion of the characteristic and the mechanism of the perovskite to separate oxygen from air
