Abstract

This study aims to assess the effectiveness of peer guidance services in enhancing self-confidence among adolescents. The service was delivered to 9th-grade students of SMP Negeri 12 Palangka Raya as part of a psychosocial intervention. This research employed a pre-experimental method with a one-group pretest-posttest design. The sample consisted of 12 students selected using purposive sampling. The instrument used was a validated and reliable self-confidence scale. The findings revealed an increase in mean scores from pre-test to post-test. The Wilcoxon test using SPSS 25 resulted in a significance value of 0.002 (<0.05), indicating that peer guidance is effective in increasing students' self-confidence. Thus, peer counseling can serve as a strategic alternative to support adolescents' psychological development in schools.

Abstract

Background: The dynamic development of the industrial world requires higher education students to possess adaptive, sustainable career-readiness. Aim: This study aims to describe students' career readiness from the perspective of Industrial Guidance and Counseling and to examine its distribution across respondents' characteristics. Method: The study employed a quantitative, descriptive design. The research subjects consisted of 204 students from the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education. Data were collected using a structured instrument and analyzed using descriptive statistics, including frequencies and percentages. Results and Discussion: The results indicate that the majority of students fall into the moderate and high categories of career readiness, with a very small proportion in the low category. Distribution by gender shows a relatively balanced pattern, suggesting that differences in career readiness are not significantly influenced by gender. These findings suggest that students already possess basic readiness to enter the workforce; however, further strengthening is still needed in aspects of adaptability and career planning. Conclusion: The study concludes by emphasizing the important role of Industrial Guidance and Counseling in optimizing students' career readiness. Recommendations are directed toward developing structured career counseling services and to further research employing more comprehensive variables and research designs.

Abstract

Background: The dynamics of industrial development require adolescents to develop strong career-readiness from an early age, including self-confidence and a clear career orientation, as essential capital to face job-market competition. Aim: This study aims to describe levels of self-confidence and career development among adolescents and to examine differences in their distribution by family economic status. Method: The research employed a quantitative, descriptive-observational design, using a cross-sectional survey of adolescents from diverse economic backgrounds. The research instruments consisted of Likert-scale questionnaires to measure levels of self-confidence and career development, as well as demographic data related to family economic status. Results and Discussion: The results indicate that the majority of respondents exhibit moderate to high levels of self-confidence and career development, both overall and across economic status. The discussion emphasizes that psychosocial factors play a more dominant role than economic aspects in supporting career readiness. Conclusion: The study concludes that industrial Career Guidance services should be equitably oriented toward strengthening adolescents' self-confidence and career exploration skills. Further research is recommended to examine relationships among variables using inferential designs and to develop more comprehensive career guidance interventions across various educational settings.

Abstract

Background: Readiness to enter the workforce in a dynamic industrial era is strongly influenced by individuals' psychological conditions, particularly self-confidence as an aspect of self-efficacy. Aim: This study aims to describe the level of self-confidence, the respondents' social relationship status, and to identify the association between these variables in the context of developing work readiness through industrial guidance and counseling. Method: This study employs a quantitative, descriptive design. Results and Discussion: The research subjects comprised 204 respondents, and data were collected using a closed-ended questionnaire on a categorical scale. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive statistics and cross-tabulation to identify patterns of relationships between variables. The results indicate that the majority of respondents have moderate to high self-confidence, with almost none falling into the low category. The respondents' marital status is predominantly unmarried; however, it does not appear to have a significant influence on self-confidence levels. Conclusion: These findings emphasize that strengthening self-confidence can be a primary focus of industrial counseling interventions to support readiness in facing the work environment. This study recommends expanding the range of variables in future research, including motivation, interpersonal skills, and social support, to achieve a more comprehensive understanding of young people's work readiness.

Abstract

Background: Higher education plays a crucial role in improving the quality of human resources. However, not all students have equal access to resources, particularly in terms of educational financing. Scholarships serve as one solution to expand access, yet their impact on students' career development has not been widely examined. Aim: This study analyzes the relationship between scholarship status and students' career development. Method: The method employed is a quantitative, comparative design that compares scholarship recipients and non-recipients across career development categories. Results and Discussions: The results indicate that scholarship recipients tend to demonstrate better career development, with the majority falling into the "High" category. In contrast, students who do not receive scholarships are predominantly classified in the "Moderate" category. The discussion highlights that scholarships have a positive impact on career development by reducing financial burdens, thereby enabling students to focus more on competency development. Conclusion: Scholarship status has a significant influence on students' career development, and it is recommended that higher education institutions enhance scholarship programs integrated with career development initiatives.

Abstract

Background: Mental readiness is a crucial aspect that determines students’ success in facing the transition from the academic world to the industrial workforce. Differences in social and economic backgrounds, including scholarship status, have the potential to influence students’ mental readiness in responding to the demands of the world of work. Aim: This study aims to analyze the level of students’ mental readiness in facing the industrial world based on scholarship status. Method: The research employed a quantitative approach with a descriptive-comparative design. The research subjects consisted of active university students grouped into scholarship recipients and non-scholarship recipients. Data were collected using a mental readiness questionnaire and analyzed using descriptive statistics in the form of frequencies and percentages. Result and Discussions: The results show that the majority of students fall into the high mental readiness category; however, non-scholarship students demonstrate a higher proportion of high mental readiness compared to scholarship recipients. Conversely, scholarship recipients show a relatively higher proportion of low mental readiness. These findings indicate differences in mental readiness based on scholarship status. Conclusion: The study concludes that scholarship status is associated with variations in students’ mental readiness to face the industrial world. Therefore, strengthening career guidance and counseling services is recommended to enhance students’ mental readiness, particularly for scholarship recipients.
