Abstract

AbstractThis aquascape-based life skill training is a training that not only improves skills, but also hones the abilities, courage, and confidence of young drug convicts. The purpose of this activity is to provide provisions for the youth inmates of the Madiun City I Lapas I drug case in carrying out their lives better after completing their sentences and being accepted by the community again. This activity uses 5 methods, namely the stage of measuring the problems or needs of partners, the stage of realizing the activity, the stage of measuring and evaluating activities, the stage of the core solution of the activity, the stage of the contribution of the parties being considered. The result of these activities is that prisoners inmates with drugs gain new skills in the field of aquascape, gain skills in creating business opportunities and gain skills in product marketing both directly and online. This activity can improve the economic conditions of the prisoners in Madiun City I Lapas I in the creative industry sector. Keywords: Aquascape, Drug Inmates, Madiun City Prison I, Creative Industry

Abstract

Abstract

Connection ability is one of the mathematical skills standards that students must possess. Mathematical connection ability is the capability to relate mathematics to other fields of study as well as to mathematics itself. In the mathematics instruction for Class X MP 2, based on the results of an initial assessment, it was found that only 20% of students had a sufficiently good connection ability, while the remaining 80% lacked this skill. This study aims to examine the effectiveness of using the discovery learning model to improve the mathematical connection ability of Class X students at SMK Negeri 5 Madiun in exponent material. The study uses a Classroom Action Research (CAR) method, conducted over two cycles. The subjects of the study were 31 students from Class X MP 2 at SMK Negeri 5 Madiun. The study was conducted through several stages in each cycle, namely planning, action, observation, and reflection. The results of this study showed an increase in students' mathematical connection abilities through the application of the discovery learning model. Learning using the discovery learning model in mathematics for Class X MP 2 at SMK Negeri 5 Madiun can enhance students' mathematical connection abilities from 46.67% in the pre-cycle, 68.33% in Cycle I, to 78.3% in Cycle II.

Abstract

Students' mathematics learning achievement is influenced by many factors, one of which is the learning media used. The textbook is one alternative learning media. The textbook used previously was not focused on problem-solving, so that this development research aims to produce a textbook based on problem-solving in algebra that is valid, effective, and practical. This research uses Gall and Borg development research which is limited to seven steps namely research and information collecting, planning, developing a preliminary form of product, preliminary field testing, main product revisions, main field testing, and dissemination. This research was conducted at the Department of Mathematics Education, Universitas PGRI Madiun. Instruments and data collection used in this study were textbook validation sheets, learning outcomes tests, and student response questionnaire. The results of the research showed that the validation result of the textbook was included in the highly valid criteria (86,74 %), the test results met the criteria of classical completeness (82,75%), and the students' response to the textbook was very high (83,33%). Based on these results, it can be concluded that the algebra textbook based on problem-solving can be used in learning. The results of the application of an algebra textbook based on the problem-solving show an increase in student achievement with an N-Gain value of 0.32.

Abstract

HOTS are high-level thinking skills that are important to have in the era of globalization to solve complex problems. However, many students still have relatively low HOTS, especially when the issue is relevant to everyday life. This study aims to see the effectiveness of implementing Problem-Based Learning (PBL) based on mathematical literacy in improving students' HOTS in class X MP 2 students of SMK Negeri 5 Madiun. This study is a classroom action research (CAR) carried out in two cycles, with 29 subjects from class X MP 2 SMK Negeri 5 Madiun. Each research cycle consists of four stages: planning, implementing actions, observation, and reflection. The main objective of this study is to determine whether implementing Problem-Based Learning (PBL) based on mathematical literacy can improve students' HOTS in mathematics learning. The study results showed a significant increase in students' HOTS after the implementation of PBL based on mathematical literacy. In the pre-cycle stage, students' HOTS was at 56.6%. After the actions were carried out in cycle I, students' HOTS increased to 71.8%, although it had not reached the expected completion criteria. In cycle II, there was another increase in students' HOTS to 79.2% which met the success criteria
