Abstract

Bioremediation is a method that use microorganism to extract heavy metal from contaminated waste. In this research Aspergillus niger was used to extract heavy metal such as Pb and Cd of marine sediment from Waiheru shore, Inner part of Ambon Bay, which was detected as significantly high heavy metal contaminated site among seven sites. Bioremediation were done using Aspergillus nigers to extract Pb and Cd metal from sediment, then their solubility being measured in filtrate media. Result shows that Cd metal were only detected 15 days after incubation while Pb were detected since the first day incubation. This result also showing the fluctuating solubility of Pb metal. It is suspected that this occurs due to biosorption ability of the fungi that being used which triggers metal accumulation in the cell structure. It is therefore can be concluded that Aspergillus niger can be used in bioremediation of sediment that are being contaminated by Pb and Cd heavy metals.

Abstract

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of giving white turmeric (Curcuma zedoaria) and curcuma (Curkuma xhantorriza) extracts on slaughter weight, carcass weight, and broiler carcass percentage. This research was carried out for 3 months, June – August 2024 in the housing unit of the Maluku Provincial Development Agricultural Vocational High School.  The study used an experimental method with a Complete Random Design (RAL), which included a simple pattern with 4 treatments and 4 replicates. Each replicate consists of 6 chickens. The treatment used was P0= without white turmeric and temulawak treatment (control), P1= 60 mL of white turmeric and temulawak extract, P2= 80 mL of white turmeric and temulawak extract, P3= 100 mL of white turmeric and temulawak extract. The variables studied in this study include feed consumption, drinking water consumption, slaughter weight, carcass weight, and carcass percentage in broilers . Based on the results of this study, the addition of white turmeric extracts (Curcuma zedoaria) and curcuma (Curcuma xanthorrhiza) showed that the P3 treatment had a real effect on the slaughter weight, and the P2 and P3 treatments had a real effect on the carcass weight. Thus, the hypothesis that 80 ml of white turmeric extract and curcuma will affect the weight of broiler carcass is acceptable.

Abstract

Most of the population of Waringin Cap are farmers construction workers, and a small portion are breeders. Government support conditioned one farmer to receive assistance for 700 laying hens, divided into two, 250 each, after the unavoidable loss of 200 chicks. The production of kept chicken eggs does not meet the requirements because they are constrained by the feed supply, both in quality and quantity. Community service activities aim to increase the knowledge and abilities of breeders regarding the use of natural resources around the livestock location to be used as feed ingredients. Community service activities in Waringin Cap hamlet have several solutions, namely an approach with the hamlet government and partner breeder groups regarding the aims and objectives of implementing the science and technology implementation program, implementing counseling, and asking questions about various practical knowledge related to the primary factors, namely feed and its provision, distributing brochures on problems and solutions for improving feed formulas and demonstration plots for laying hen feed formulas. Improving feed using lamtoro leaves is one way that can help farmers meet livestock needs. Community service activities have received good appreciation from farmers because they provide new information for breeders to improve the quality of feed provided so that they can increase egg production.
