Abstract

Planishing hammer is a tool for plate forming with a utilizing impact force that happened as a result of hammer’s impact. This research was conducted to find the performance of planishing hammer, then do some methods to get value of force that happened. As for the method used are manual calculation, experimental, and simulation. Simulation method was done by Finite Element Method (FEM) concept using commercial software, collusion Abaqus. The experiment performed with metal formed to plate, where at planishing hammer pasted a strain gauge that activated by microcontroller and used Arduino UNO which can be connected directly to a computer to see the stress that happened to hammer. The experiment was conducted to get the maximum force of forwarded from electric motor ¼ HP with principle of power transmission utilizing eccentric shaft for until the plate is deformed. For manual calculation was used mechanism 4 bars, wherein the linear velocity were calculated by analytic methods. Based manual calculation method, the value of  force 2413.86735 N. By experimental method thrice, the value of force are 2748.081 N,  2775.518 N and 2742.478 N, and with simulation the value of force is 2165.961 N. Abstract

Oil palm fresh fruit brunch (FFB) are the main source of crude palm oil (CPO). Sorting and grading FFB are important in order to obtain high quality CPO. Multispecral imaging has been purposed to be implemented in high speed sorting machines due to less wavelength bandwidths used hence less processing time. This study was aimed to evaluate the ripeness levels of oil palm FFB based on relative reflectance intensity and fruit firmness. Multispectral images were acquired using two bandpass filters mounted in a filter wheel with wavelengths of 520 nm and 800 nm respectively. The image acquisition and processing were controlled using python based program. The samples consisted of 30 oil palm FFBs of Tenera varieties with three ripeness levels as unripe, ripe, and overripe. The result showed that the relatif reflectance intensity at wavelength of 520 nm is inversely proportional to the maturity level, on the other hand,  relatif reflectance intensity at wavelength of 800 nm is directly proportional to the maturity level. The relation between the firmness and ripeness level are inversely proportional. Relative reflectance intensity of the multispectral images at the wavelength of 800 nm had a better correlation to the palm fruit firmness than the image at the wavelength of 520 nm with the correlation coefficient (r) of -0.0198 at 520 nm and -0.8594 at 800 nm. it can be shown that the multispectral imaging is potensial to be implemented for FFB ripeness evaluation.

Abstract

Fertilization plays an important role in increasing the production of palm oil. Fertilization by manually deployed using the hand is considered less effective because the dose of fertilizer is not uniform and improper fertilization methods. The purpose of thisresearch is to design and make the hopper (tank fertilizer distributor) for precise fit required dose and volume of uniform fertilizer for each tree. The case study method is used to getinformation about fertilization technique and dose of fertilizer. The information obtained is used to design and acquire the dimensions, the shape of the hopper is made. Design methodusing descriptive design french. Once the image is finished then print out the pictures do the work that will be done the manufacturing process. From the calculation and testing obtained capacity ofthe reservoir tank is 7.5 liters, volumemetering 1 0:09 L, metering 2 0.17 L, metering 30.26 L with dimensions of 200 mm × 150 mm × 283 mm. From the simulation results obtained structural analysis of the maximum value of the safety factor 15 minimum safety factor of 3.49, while the maximum displacement and displacement 0.04568 minimum 0 results shows that the hopper is safe to use. Hopper performance results have been obtained through the testing process with an average dose of the valve 1 0.07 kg (urea), 0.08 kg (TSP), valve 2 0.12 kg (urea), 0.14 kg (TSP fertilizer), and valve 3 0.17 kg (urea), 0.19 kg (TSP).Keywords: Design, fertilizationtechnology, fertilizationmechanisms, valve metering mechanism.

Abstract

Measuring clock or dial is a comparison device usually used in industrial activities, especially in production. To make measurements at this time must be supported by technology that can facilitate operators when using it and when analyzing measurement results. Involving the programme and microcontroller are a solution to developing in roundness measurement, and then the results can be more accurate or thorough between the readable values read from the measuring instrument with the actual value of varying the amount of data. Roundness application is a program that can input measurement data automatically and can do calculations directly. Then, it can display a reference circle, a table that calculates the values of X, Y, R, X’, Y’, R’, Roundness Deviation, Run out Concentricity or a shift in the center point and also the center point shift or Theta. In measuring roundness, the test object is used the Standard Mandrel which has been certified by PT. Global Quality Indonesia, by determining three points or positions, namely in the first position the amount of data is 180, in the second position the amount of data is 90 and in the third position the amount of data is 60 with a rotating speed of 15 mm/s. The results of the reference circle can be seen in each calculation in each position, in the second position the roundness deviation values are approaching of the Mandrel. Abstract

Accuracy is the closeness or the accuracy of the measurement results with the actual value. Accuracy can also mean a measure of the closeness results of the analysis of the actual invitation analyte levels. Accuracy is vital that must be fulfilled and owned by any measurement tool, use the measuring instrument that has high accuracy and good will produce accurate measurement data and other wise use measuring devices are not accurate, do not meet the standards of the results obtained will not be accurate. This study aims to determine the value of the mandrel roundness deviation, roundness accuracy Measuring Equipment (Roundness Tester Machine) and large deviations in the roundness measuring instrument (Roundness TesterMachine) (instrument error) and the operator or gauges (human error). From the results, the large stroundness deviation value for minimum circumscribed circle is 0,474 mm, maximum inscribed circle 0,417 mm, minimum zone circle 0,495 mm, least squares circle 0,207 mm, for the value of sphericity (roundness) for the smallest outer for minimum circumscribed circleis 0,003 mm, maximum inscribed circle 0,003 mm, minimum zone circle is 0,003 mm, least squares is 0,001 mm. Value accuracy roundness measuring instrument (Roundness TesterMachine) in position 1 = 0,006 mm, position 2 = 0,006 mm, position 3 = 0,011 mm, position 4 = 0,018 mm, position 5 = 0,003 mm, position 6 = 0,018 mm, position 7 = 0,021 mm, position 8 = 0,031 mm, position 9 = 0,002 mm, position 10 = 0,001 mm and error measuring instrument (instrument error) is the largest 0,02944 mm or 18,871% and the smallest deviation is 0,00029 mm or 0,225%. Operator error or measuring (Human Error) for first test (human) 22%, second test 5,33%, third test 182%, fourth test 187%, fifth test 58%.Keywords: Accuracy, Deviation, Human error, Roundness Tester Machine.

Abstract

The scheduling has an important role as a form of decision making. Mechanical Engineering Laboratory of University of Riau is a place to conduct some educational activities such as courses practice, experimental of laboratory, scientific research, teaching practice etc. Therefore, it is necessary to adopt the management information system for scheduling of laboratory equipments. This research aim is to design and develop a system to manage scheduling of data equipments in Mechanical Engineering Laboratory of University of Riau. The laboratory equipments scheduling system in Mechanical Engineering, University of Riau has grooves to come job as dynamic scheduling, which uncertain process the arrival of data equipments, either the number or its arrival. Method in this research used the dynamic scheduling of First Come First Served (FCFS) to determine the priority for decision making. Subsequence, this method was execution of sequence order based on the fastest time of arrival of orders. Developing of an application program used MySQL as database and PHP (Hypertext Preprocessor) as a programming language. Based on the results of testing of the application software were obtained an optimal performance for the management system of scheduling equipments in Mechanical Engineering Laboratory, University of Riau. In conclusion, the new system provided a faster, efficient and accurate of equipments data management in the Mechanical Engineering Laboratory, University of Riau.Keywords: Laboratory Equipment, Dynamic Scheduling, First Come First Served (FCFS), PHP, Database.

Abstract

Bending Roll is a tool used to make curves, which are widely used in the field of construction work. The Bending Rolltool made by Tongam and Aweng (2018) has not been tested. To analyze the performance of the Bending Roll tool using thefinite element method then compared with direct testing. Testing through finite element method Finite element methodsoftware is used, namely Abaqus. That testing directly specimens used there are two types, plate and Hollow. For platespecimens, the rolling process is tested by adding a load using a hydraulic jack and the compressive force measured by thepressure gauge. Whilst Hollow specimens a strain gauge is also used to measure the strain that occurs during rolling. Thegoal is to be able to see the phenomena that occur in the specimen during rolling. The results of the most ideal specimen tobe carried out on a tool is a specimen with a thickness of 3 mm. On the 3 mm plate the stresses are large and can formyoung specimens with a small force. When the force used is small, it will extend the life of the bending roll tool. If calculatedthe level of difference in measurements that occur is not so big between experimental measurements and simulationmeasurements.Key words: Bending Roll, finite element, pressure gauge, strain gauge.

Abstract

Mie Aceh Alya is a small-scale house hold industry engaged in culinary making wet noodles. Process of making Aceh Alya’s noodles includes preparation of raw materials, mixing dough, printing and cutting, boiling, and cooling and packaging. To meet the demand of the product is often in overtime and delay of product delivery. The objectives of the research is to identification of waste occurring in the production process, to analyze the cause of the waste and to recommend the improvement on the production process, and to evaluate the quality of the product so that the productivity improvement can be achieved. The reseach conducted a case study in small scale industry i.e. Mie Aceh Alya. The research method used lean manufacturing system approach and Value Stream Mapping (VSM) method. Based on the calculation of the initial stage of the design can reduce lead time on the current production floor from 548,12 minutes to 438,95 minutes, so the company can produce more quickly and the delay of product delivery can be eliminated or reduced. Result of entification using WRM method was obtainad three biggest wastes that was defect of 14.86%, motion 14.61%, and prosess of 14.61%. The selection of detail mapping tools with Value Stream Analysis Tools (VALSAT) method was obtained the greatest value of PAM. From Process Activity Mapping (PAM) analysis obtained the was value added equal to 322,48 minutes or 58.83% from total time and 41.17% for non value added based improvement recommendation can decrease lead time at production floor of 1,82 hours.Keywords: Lean manufacturing system, VSM, Waste

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the production process on Stone Crusher machine using the Overall Equipment Effectiveness method at PT Vira Jaya Riau Putra. From the OEE calculation result, it is found that OEE value of Stone Crusher machine of 64,71% is still below world class standart of OEE (85%). The low value of OEE is caused by one of the factors such as the machine availability, which more stand by for raw material to be processed again. From the analysis of big losses that most significantly affect the low value of OEE Stone Crusher machine that is reduced speed loss, setup and adjustment losses. The reduced speed loss is caused by the decrease in production speeds made by the operator and the high setup and adjustment losses due to the engine being left idle due to the low performance of the Stone Crusher engine to produce products that match the desired results.Keywords: OEE, Stone Crusher, Six Big Losses

Abstract

Welding according to DIN (Deutsche Industrie Norman) is a metallurgical bonding on the connection is done in the melting or liquid state. In other words, the welding is the joining of two pieces of metal into one doneby way of heating or melting, where both ends of the object that will be spliced with eyes melt made the pin on the tool or the heat gained from the pins on the rounds a specified rpm. each specimen, material AISI 4140 steel is used with a diameter of 6 mm pin welding position horizontally (flat), the used temperature 70 ° c, 75 ° c, 80 °c, and a round of rpm used 400 rpm, 500 rpm, 700 rpm, in the execution of welding the welding method using FSW (Friction Stir Welding). Then pull the values taken on the area of welding.
