Abstract

Nurul Islam Islamic Boarding School is an Islamic education institution in Antirogo Village, Sumbersari District, Jember Regency, East Java. Apart from being a means of education for the community, this Islamic boarding school can also create the potential for waste generation. The generation of waste in Islamic boarding school areas, especially from kitchens, can cause the earth's surface temperature to rise, resulting in climate change. Based on these problems, the service aimed to reduce the impact of waste generation by managing organic kitchen waste in urban farming products in the form of eco-enzyme and maggot cultivation. This service will occur from May 1, 2024, to November 1, 2024. This activity aims to empower Islamic boarding school residents, especially administrators and students. The method used in this service is designing Eco Enzyme fermentation tanks and maggot cultivation cages, creating a monitoring system, socializing and demonstrating tools, practising Eco Enzyme production and maggot cultivation, and program understanding tests. The results of this service activity are Urban Farming products in the form of Eco Enzyme and maggot solutions, which have been equipped with Eco Enzyme fermentation tanks and maggot cultivation cages. Another result is increasing knowledge among Islamic boarding school residents about managing organic waste in urban farming products to overcome climate change.

Abstract

Solid waste is left over from human activities that is no longer used by humans. The problem of waste is the responsibility of all communities, not only the responsibility of the government. The role of the community is very important in overcoming the waste problem. This study aims to determine the waste generation and composition, community participation, and the strategies in waste management in Sumbersari District, Jember Regency, East Java Province. Data collection techniques are through sampling of waste generation and questionnaires. Sampling of 45 families in Sumbersari Village, Tegalgede Village and Antirogo Village based on the level of population density. The result of measuring household waste generation for 8 consecutive days is 299.794 kg/day (0.21kg/person/day). The community know and agree to waste management, but it is contrary to the community proportional to behavior that rarely does it. The strategy to increase community participation is to disseminate information related to the application of 3R principles, training on the use of waste into products of economic value, increasing the number of waste banks and increasing environmental activists or environmental cadres

Abstract

Sumbersari District, one of the urban areas in Jember, meets the problems of a limited number of temporary disposal sites (TDS). The paper aims to determine an alternative location for a new temporary disposal site (TDS) in the Sumbersari District by combining the Analysis Hierarchy Process (AHP) and Geographic Information System (GIS) methods. The AHP method is applied to determine the priority land with predetermined variables and the GIS method is applied for weighting physical aspects and spatial to make decisions through buffering and overlay techniques. The results of the study show that AHP weighting obtains priority to land, namely areas that are dominated by land with ownership rights of the State, Property Rights, and Use Rights, land that has a distance of more than 1000 m from the existing TDS, and land that has existing TDS conditions with a storage capacity of more than 100 %. Meanwhile, based on the GIS method through buffering and overlay techniques on physical and priority land aspects, 10 alternative location points were obtained with a value of 26 (Quite feasible and priority). These points were then carried out by eld observations, resulting in 2 suitable locations, namely A1 in the Antirogo Village and K1 in the Kranjingan Village.

Abstract

The Tegaldlimo branch of Banyuwangi water supply company serves 3 villages and 28 villages in the southern part of Banyuwangi district are not yet served by piped networks. This study aims to analyze the development of piped distribution networks in the short-term, medium-term term, and long-term Southern Banyuwangi Regency. The geometry method was carried out for population projection in 2042 that applied as the basis of average water demand. The calculation of water demand was simulated using EPANET 2.2, with maps of distribution pipelines to illustrate the hydraulic simulation of pipelines. The development of drinking water distribution networks in The Southern Banyuwangi Regency was divided into four stages according to the priority, namely Siliragung, Pesanggaran, Bangorejo, and Purwoharjo district. The development of the drinking pipeline network was carried out by using HDPE in diameters of 200, 180, 160, 140, 125, 110, 90, 75, and 63 mm and pump type of Grundfos UPS Series 200 with a maximum head of 18 m and a maximum flow of 70 cubic meter per hour. Keywords: development, SPAM, PUDAM  ABSTRAK PDAM Banyuwangi cabang Tegaldlimo melayani 3 desa dan 28 desa di Kabupaten Banyuwangi bagian selatan belum terlayani jaringan perpipaan.

Abstract

The conversion of agricultural land into residential areas will have an impact on the need for clean water which contains various metal contaminants such as iron. One of them is the Randu Housing, Sumberejo Village, Sukodono District, Lumajang Regency, which is one of the many housing estates built from former rice fields. This study aims to analyze the effect of using types of aerators, namely cascade aerators and bubble aerators with a variety of filter media using dune sand and river sand with a discharge of 1 liter/minute. This type of research uses an experimental method which is carried out on a laboratory scale. The results showed the percentage reduction in Fe content in aeration treatment using cascade aerator and bubble aerator was 14,55% and 2,16%, sedimentation treatment was 3.34%, and filtration treatment using dune sand and river sand filter media was 81,85% and 89.13%. The results of the analysis showed that the variables of the cascade aerator, dune sand filter and river sand filter had a significant relationship with the decrease in iron content. While the relationship that does not have a significant effect is the bubble aerator and sedimentation variables. Keywords: Aeration, Sedimentation, Filtration and Iron (Fe)
