Abstract

Sukamaju Village is one of the villages in Serang Regency which has the potential for sheep farming under the assistance of the Serang Regency Agriculture Service. Management of the sheep business in this target group is generally still inadequate, where solid and liquid waste has not been properly managed. Farmers do not know the technicalities of waste management well. The urine produced by sheep is only stored in a container without being used to become something that is more beneficial and environmentally friendly. Even though the sheep urine can be processed into liquid organic fertilizers and vegetable pesticides. This research was conducted on 13 August - 20 August 2020 at the sheep breeder's house in Sukamaju Village, Cikeusal District, Serang Regency, Banten Province. The materials used in this research are sheep urine as the basic ingredient for making liquid fertilizer (biourin), Effective microorganism 4 (EM4) and empon-empon which includes galangal, betel leaf, ginger, turmeric, and shrimp paste. Meanwhile, the tools used are water vats, stirrers, and liquid fertilizer containers. The results obtained from the process of making liquid organic fertilizers and vegetable pesticides from sheep urine are the color of the liquid fertilizer after the fermentation process is blackish brown and smells good. The results of making this liquid fertilizer after being given to plants can be seen that the plants are getting fresher and there are no harmful microorganisms (pests) around the plant. This proves that liquid fertilizers and vegetable pesticides work well. The response of the breeders was happy when this liquid organic fertilizer was successfully applied to their farms. Furthermore, the process of making liquid organic fertilizers and natural pesticides will be continued independently by farmers in Sukamaju Village, Cikeusal District, Serang Regency, Banten Province. Abstract

External and internal factors can affect the body of livestock. External factors consist of climate, offering feed, and maintenance management. Internal factors include the biological aspects of lactating dairy. This research was conducted to see the microclimate relationship between milk production and the proportion of lactation. This study aims to identify and evaluate Friesian Holstein dairy cattle productivity based on the microclimate in BPTSP HPT Cikole. This study used the survey method to obtain secondary data. The regression and correlation test was used to analyze data. Results showed 111 Holstein dairy cattle productivity based on the amount of milk, and lactation proportion fluctuated from 2017 to 2019. The regression results and the impact of microclimate in general on milk production had no significant effect. It was proven that BPTSP HPT Cikole was successful in overcoming the effects of microclimate changes. In conclusion, that temperature, humidity, precipitation, and THI do not affect the production of Friesian Holstein cow's milk at BPTSP HPT Cikole. Based on the regression analysis results, precipitation significantly affects the proportion of lactation with an R2 value of 78.08%.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menjelaskan hubungan antara kondisi mikroklimat terhadap populasi sapi perah FH di BPTSP HPT Cikole. Bahan utama pada penelitian ini adalah data populasi ternak sapi perah Friesian Holstein (FH) sebanyak 111 ekor yang dipelihara dari tahun 2017 sampai 2019. Data tambahan yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah suhu, kelembaban udara, curah hujan dari bulan Januari 2017 sampai dengan Desember 2019. Data yang diolah menjadi parameter adalah populasi ternak yang dipengaruhi mikroklimat. Metode pengolahan data menggunakan analisis deskriptif, regresi dan korelasi. Jumlah populasi dalam ST (Satuan Ternak) tahun 2017 sampai 2019 berbeda. Tahun 2018 jumlah populasi mengalami peningkatan dari tahun sebelumnya, namun pada tahun 2019 populasi mengalami penurunan. Berdasarkan analisis regresi dan korelasi terdapat pengaruh nyata antara kelembaban dan curah hujan terhadap populasi sapi FH dengan nilai R2 33,36% dan R2 40,28%. Hasil Regresi Korelasi pengaruh mikroklimat terhadap populasi secara umum tidak berpengaruh nyata sehingga dapat disimpulkan kondisi mikroklimat di daerah tersebut tidak berpengaruh terhadap populasi sapi. Kesimpulan pada penelitian ini adalah mikroklimat yang terdiri atas suhu, kelembaban, curah hujan dan THI tidak berpengaruh terhadap populasi sapi Friesian Holstein.

Abstract

Katuk (Sauropus androgynus), a traditional herb that has been traditionally consumed by breastfeeding mothers to increase their milk production but still has some side effects, such as bronchiolitis obliterans and inhibition of calcium absorbtion. Removing the polar compounds in katuk leaf (depolarized katuk leaf) can eliminate those side effects without eliminating its side effect in increasing milk production and body growth in several production animals. This study was aimed to analyze the physiological status of beef cows consuming diet supplemented with depolarized katuk leaf as feed additive by measuring their hematology and blood mineral profile. Nine Brahman cross cows in the finisher stage, were grouped based on their diet: complete feed (control), complete feed plus depolarized katuk leaf powder (P1; 100 g per day), and complete feed plus depolarized katuk leaf pellet (P2; 100 g per day). Blood sample was collected after six weeks of consumption for analysis of hematological profiles including total erythrocytes, hematocrit, hemoglobin, total leukocytes, stress index (neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio); and blood mineral concentration (calcium and phosphorous). Dietary administration of depolarized katuk leaf did not have any statistically significant effect on all hematology parameters and blood mineral profiles. In conclusion, depolarized katuk leaf can be used as a growth promoter in beef cows without any negative effect on their physiological status. Abstract

The study aimed to evaluate the quality and production of semen for candidate bull (Folegan, Aris, Flate, Flanggo). The research was carried out from March to May 2022 at BIB Lembang, West Java. The materials used were secondary data recordings of semen quality and production from 4 candidate bulls as Zuriat tests in 2016 - 2020. Data were analyzed descriptively. The results of the study from four candidate bulls were the concentration of spermatozoa: 1209,35±269,92, 1181,47±238,92, 1137,22± 207,73 and 115,25±261,36 (106 /mL); mass motion: 2,01±0,09, 2,01±0,07, 2,00±0,05 and 2,00±0.05; individual motility: 71,01±0,02, 70,89±0,02, 70,82±0,19 and 70,70±0,02(%); pH: 6,60±0,16, 6,58±0,16, 6,58±0,15 and 6,56±0,15; semen volume: 6,76±2,03, 6,59±2,15, 6,42±1.49 and 5,47±1,52 (mL), and frozen semen production: 295,40±96,92, 293,40±91,40, 265,90±90,81 and 227,66±66,01. The study concludes that the quality and production of semen of the four candidate bulls is normal and suitable to be used as proven bulls.

Abstract

Standardization of the quality of the depolarized katuk pellet production process as a feed additive is very important to maintain product quality. The production process requires dry katuk leaves (DKK) as raw materials which are then processed into depolarized katuk leaves (DKD), and continues in the pelleting process to become depolarized katuk pellets (PKD). Quality standard can be done by measuring the parameters of nutritional value and also the yield of methanol extract. Nutritional values were obtained from the results of proximate analysis, namely the percentage of dry matter, ash content, crude protein, crude fiber, crude fat, beta-N, calcium, phosphorus, and gross energy (Cal/g). Mean while, the yield of methanol extract was obtained by maceration using methanol solvent. This study aims to evaluate the nutritional value and yield of crude methanol extract of katuk leaves (DKK, DKD, PKD) which can be used as a quality assurance standard for the depolarized katuk pellet production process. In general, the nutritional value of DKD and PKD had the same value as that of DKK, except for calcium which was quite high (P<0.05) in DKD and PKD, and the percentage of crude fiber was lower (P<0.05) in PKD compared to DKK and DKD. The percentage of crude fat in pellets (PKD) was higher (P<0.05) when compared to DKK and DKD. The yield of methanol extract was very high (P<0.05) in DKK, compared to DKD and PKD. The nutritional parameters and the yield of the katuk leaf extract can be used as quality assurance standards for the depolarized katuk pellet production process. Abstract

Crossbreeding is carried out with the aim of enhancing and combining favorable traits between different breeds. The results of crossbreeding can be analyzed through genetic distance measured by various parameters, including morphometric measurements of livestock bodies. This study aims to analyze the morphometric diversity based on body measurements and canonical analysis in PE, Saanen, and Sapera goats to determine their genetic proximity. The research utilized a quantitative descriptive method using primary and secondary data from the BALITNAK Ciawi dairy goat station through a canonical analysis approach. The study and collection of primary and secondary data were conducted from March to April 2022. The research was carried out at the BALITNAK Dairy Goat Research Station in Ciawi Subdistrict, Bogor Regency. The results of this study indicate that the genetic distance between Sapera and Saanen goats is closer than between Sapera and PE goats. Furthermore, in terms of body measurements, the measurements of Sapera goats are closer to the Saanen goats compared to the PE goats. It can be concluded that the body size of Sapera goats is more similar to that of PE goats, while their external appearance is closer to the Saanen goats, which have predominantly white fur color.

Abstract

The progeny test activity aims to improve genetic quality and produce proven bulls for dairy cows. Evaluation of semen quality is one approach to determining bull fertility. This research determines the best candidate bull (CB) for the progeny test at National Artificial Insemination Center (NAIC) Singosari based on the quality of fresh semen and frozen semen production. The material used secondary data from the third period of the progeny test of three candidate bulls, namely Shoty, Doming, and Glens, from 2016 to 2020. Data were analyzed using descriptive analysis. The results showed that the volume, pH, mass movement, individual motility, and sperm concentration of Shoty, Doming, and Glen's fresh semen were 6.16±1.87; 7.61±1.89 and 7.68±1.86 mL, 6.50±0.17; 6.48±0.16 and 6.40±0.16, 2.21±0.41; 2.28±0.45 and 2.28±0.45, 72.43±0.05; 73.86±0.06 and 74.07±0.07%, and 938.80±287.90; 953.24±266.52 and 1144.72 ±307.47 106/mL. Frozen semen production of Shoty, Doming, and Glens were 234.68±108.00, 294.80±114.76, and 357.25±146.29 straws. In conclusion, the quality of fresh semen and frozen semen production of the three candidate bulls was relatively high, and the best CB is Glens, followed by Doming and Shoty. Abstract

Penelitian bertujuan mengevaluasi calon pejantan unggul (CPU) berdasarkan produksi susu anak betinanya (Daugther Cow/DC) dari sapi Friesian Holstein (FH) hasil uji zuriat. Penelitian dilaksanakan bulan Februari sampai April 2022 di Balai Besar Pembibitan Ternak Unggul dan Hijauan Pakan Ternak (BBPTU HPT) Baturraden, Jawa Tengah. Materi penelitian adalah 636 ekor DC uji zuriat tahun 2017 – 2020 dari enam CPU. Metode penelitian adalah studi kasus dengan mengambil data catatan kinerja produksi DC uji zuriat periode tahun 2017 – 2020 pada laktasi pertama. Analisis data yang digunakan adalah analisis deskriptif. Variabel yang diamati adalah: angka kebuntingan, tingkat kelahiran, rasio jenis kelamin, produksi susu, dan lama laktasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan angka kebuntingan 64,94 %, angka kelahiran dari kebuntingan 77,48 %, dan rasio jenis kelamin (sex ratio) anakan DC jantan dan betina 55,63 % dan 44,38 %. Rataan produksi susu hasil penelitian adalah 13,71±3,92 kg/ekor/hari dengan kisaran 5255,26±1471,06 kg/laktasi. Rataan lama laktasi pada laktasi pertama adalah 249,94±82,80 hari dengan lama interval laktasi 167,14 – 332,74 hari. Performa produksi DC dari semua CPU memiliki produktivitas yang baik. Produksi susu dan lama laktasi sesuai dengan rataan standar sapi FH di Indonesia, sehingga CPU layak sebagai pejantan.

Penelitian dilaksanakan mulai dari bulan Maret sampai Mei 2022 di BIB Lembang. Bahan yang digunakan adalah rekaman data sekunder kualitas dan produksi semen dari 4 ekor calon pejantan unggul (CPU) pada kegiatan uji zuriat tahun 2016 sampai 2020. Data dianalisis secara deskriptif. Hasil penelitian dari empat ekor calon pejantan unggul adalah konsentrasi spermatozoa: 1209,35±269,92, 1181,47±238,92, 1137,22±207,73, dan 115,25±261,36 (106/ml); gerak massa: 2,01±0,09, 2,01±0,07, 2,00±0,05, dan 2,00±0,05; motilitas individu: 71,01±0,02, 70,89±0,02, 70,82±0,19, dan 70,70±0,02 (%); pH: 6,60±0,16, 6,58±0,16, 6,58±0,15, dan 6,56±0,15; volume semen: 6,76±2,03, 6,59±2,15, 6,42±1,49, dan 5,47±1,52 (ml); dan produksi semen beku: 295,40±96,92, 293,40±91,40, 265,90±90,81, dan 227,66±66,01 (straw). Berdasarkan rataan tersebut pejantan yang paling unggul adalah Folegan disusul dengan Aris, Flate, dan yang terakhir adalah Flanggo. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini bahwa kualitas dan produksi semen dari keempat calon pejantan unggul adalah normal dan layak dijadikan sebagai pejantan.
