Abstract

Abstract

Jamblang (Syzygium cumini L.) Skeel is a plant that has the potential to be a natural antioxidant. The jamblang plant contains chemical compounds including alkaloids, flavonoids, resins, tannins, and essential oils. This study aims to identify the class of flavonoid compounds contained in jamblang leaves using a spectrophotometer UV-Vis and FTIR and to determine the antioxidant activity of jamblang leaf determined by the percentage of resistance. Determination result of antioxidant activity in ethanol extract, ethyl acetate and isolate of jamblang leave against ABTS (2,2-azino-bis(3-etilbenzotiazolin)-6-asam sulfonat) the highest percentage was shown at 40 ppm of ethyl acetate extract equal is 46,77%. The Identification results of isolate jamblang leave contained flavonoid compounds from the flavonol groups.

Abstract

Theory of Multiple Intelligences in education world is less so concerned. Some chemistry teachers who teach high school students in Semarang City are not aware to this theory due to lack of references. This research aims to know the level of Multiple Intelligences of high school students in Semarang City in chemistry studies according to the indicators as described by Howard Gardner. Those indicators are intelligences of verbal-linguistic, logical-mathematical, visual-spatial, physical-kinesthetic, musical-rhytmic, intrapersonal, interpersonal, and naturalist. This research is conducted in three schools which takes fifty students of XI IPA from each school using random and simple in retrieving the data. That data is collected using questionnaires which are shared to students to know the level of Mutiple Intelligences. The research data is analyzed descriptive-quantitatively, that quantitative data is only used as means of categorizing the level of students’ intelligences. The result of this study is obtained various data on each indicator. The result of quantitatively data analysis shows that naturalist intelligence is obtained at the highest percentage of 71.10%, while verbal-linguistic intelligence is obtained at the lowest percentage of 62.23%. The result of this research can be used as a reference and consideration of high school teachers in formulating a lesson plan that will be applied in chemistry learning. Based on the result of this research, it can be concluded that the level of students’ Multiple Intelligence in chemistry learning is averagely categorized as “hight level”.

Abstract

The learning process in schools is considered not to focus on real-life problems that require critical and creative thinking skills from students. In addition, the learning carried out did not pay attention to the local culture that developed in the area. Therefore, this study aims to analyze students' critical and creative thinking skills after applying a problem-based learning model that contains ethnoscience. This study uses a mixed method with a sequential explanatory strategy. This research was conducted on students of class X MIPA SMAK Santo Thomas Aquinas Bengkayang, West Kalimantan, for the academic year 2021/2022. Test the validity of quantitative data and qualitative data using a concurrent triangulation strategy which was carried out at the same time. The results showed that the average score of critical and creative thinking skills was 77.7 and 75.9, respectively, with high levels, while the N-gain values were 0.57 (medium) and 0.72 (high). The conclusion is that ethnoscience-based problem-based chemistry learning in this study is effective in developing students' critical thinking and creative thinking skills.

Abstract

Chronic lead exposure induces ROS accumulation which causes physiological disorders. Chelation therapy has been widely used to overcome lead poisoning since it exerts only a few side effects. Nano chitosan prevents lead poisoning by inhibiting ROS. This study examined the pharmacokinetics of nano chitosan in chronic lead-induced toxicity animal models and the mechanism of action pathway using the bioinformatic approach, The area under the curve was estimated to be 12110.13 ± 7709.37 μg/mL hours using the pharmacokinetic model, and the Cmax was 82.34 ± 5.64 μg/mL. The Tmax and t½ calculations were 22.68 ± 11.67 and 80.47 ± 60.58 hours respectively. Chitosan nanoparticles regulated VEGFA, FGF2, and LGALS3 which plausibly played a substantial role in chronic lead exposure. However, chitosan is not suitable for oral administration due to its low gastrointestinal solubility. These characteristics make chitosan nanoparticles have the prospect of being developed as a supplement so that they can contribute to overcoming the negative impacts of chronic lead poisoning.

Abstract

This service aims to provide assistance to the community in the Gubung Serut area to prepare educational natural tourist destinations. Mentoring involves partners from PT. Astra International Tbk., Honda Central Java region. Community empowerment applies a participatory method through the stages of community empowerment through the stages of preparation, implementation, and evaluation. Preparation is carried out through the stages of establishing partnerships to build a shared commitment to developing empowerment programs in target locations. The empowerment program is prepared jointly between the service team, village officials, and target community leaders. Data during the empowerment process and activity achievements were collected through interviews and observations. Interviews reveal the opinion of tourism managers about knowledge gained during empowerment activities and benefits obtained in setting up educational tourism areas. The number of visitors to the tourist area every week has reached more than 100 people. The most attractive tourist destinations for visitors are natural panoramas and educational attractions. Preparing the Gubung Serut tourist area to become an educative natural tourism destination has been carried out through preparing management resources, building destinations, and preparing educational tourist attractions. The development of the Gubung Serut tourist area needs to be done with a broader partnership. The culinary and artistic potential still needs to involve partners more broadly to increase the diversity of tourist attractions that attract visitors.
