Abstract

West Sumatra, one of the provinces in Indonesia, is renowned for its rich cultural heritage and beautiful natural landscapes. Additionally, its agricultural sector significantly contributes to the region's Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP), including in Solok Selatan Regency, which boasts the Seribu Rumah Gadang area as its tourism icon. Solok Selatan Regency is also home to Lake Bontak, the only lake in the region, located within the conservation area of Kerinci Seblat National Park (TNKS), one of the gateways for climbing Mount Kerinci. The Independent Conservation Group (KKM) Bangun Rejo has been managing agro-ecotourism by establishing a Tourism Awareness Group (Pokdarwis) and farmer groups. These groups engage in integrated farming, agriculture, and livestock businesses with nature tourism at Lake Bontak. The empowerment of these community groups aims to develop sustainable agro-ecotourism in Solok Selatan Regency. One method used is Focus Group Discussions (FGD) to identify the potential for agro-ecotourism development at Lake Bontak. The outcomes of these activities include the agro-edutourism development concept, the creation of social media accounts for promotion, and the cleaning and installation of tracking paths and tourist activity guides in the Lake Bontak area. Additionally, there is an emphasis on educating the community about conducting tourism activities that prioritize biodiversity conservation within the conservation area to support ongoing environmental knowledge around Lake Bontak. It is hoped that this area will attract both local and international tourists, particularly students and researchers interested in exploring the flora and fauna potential through the agro-edutourism concept.

Abstract

Abstract

The objectives of this study are to examine the implementation of government policies on the empowerment program of Suku Anak Dalam (SAD) related to livelihood assets and to describe the performance of SAD assets in Jambi Province. The study was conducted in 2024. The study location was determined purposively in Dwi Karya Bhakti Village, Pelepat District, Bungo Regency, and Muara Kilis Village, Tebo Tengah District, Tebo Regency, considering that these locations had received various empowerment programs and obtained agricultural land for the SAD community. Respondents were identified through the census, specifically 93 SAD individuals who had been empowered. They were then interviewed, along with the Head of the Service/Secretary of the Food Crops, Horticulture, and Plantation Service of Bungo Regency and Tebo Regency, as well as Tumenggung and SAD Companion Figures. This study used a descriptive analytical approach to describe the implementation of government policies. The livelihood assets were scored using indicators of natural capital, financial capital, social capital, human capital, and physical capital. The research findings indicate that there are no regulations or policies from the Jambi Provincial Regulation regarding SAD assistance, specifically in the agricultural sector, in Bungo and Tebo Regencies. Based on livelihood assets, it is known that the livelihood assets of SAD are not yet optimal. This study highlights the need for maximum assistance that focuses on livelihood assets so that the level of nomadic people in SAD can be overcome and the success of the program, especially in the agricultural sector, can be achieved.

Abstract

The corn commodity is one of the common crops cultivated in Nagari Koto Gadang Guguak, Solok Regency, so the cultivation of this corn plant has been cultivated for generations. Even though this corn plant is not yet optimal, it will continue to be developed over time. This research aims to determine the strategy for developing advanced business farmer groups in Solok Regency. This research identifies internal and external factors, formulates alternative strategies using SWOT analysis, then continues with arranging a hierarchy using AHP analysis. The results of internal and external analysis show that the Advanced Farmer Group has five strengths, two weaknesses, four opportunities and two threats. The land area for development is quite large and soil suitability is the most important subfactor of strength; poor financial records are the most important subfactor of weakness; the development of information technology is the most important subfactor in opportunities and pest and disease attacks are the most important subfactor in threats. The priority strategy that can be implemented in developing Advanced Business Farmer Groups based on the results of the AHP analysis is developing production by increasing the quality of both production results and production facilities and quantity.

Abstract

This activity is motivated by concern for the facts of climate change occurring globally and regionally. In response to this, the Indonesian government has also taken a number of concrete steps in all aspects of climate change adaptation and mitigation, both at the local, regional, and national levels. One national program that directly touches local communities is the climate village program known as "PROKLIM." The city of Bukittinggi has responded actively to this national program and has received national awards for the achievements of its activities in two community groups. The purpose of community service activities in the Climate Village Program is to increase the group's capacity in processing household organic waste through the application of Maggot cultivation from black soldier fly (BSF). The main methods of implementing the activities are training, providing assistance and companiment the target group. The activity results showed that the target group had the knowledge and skills to cultivate BSF and produce larvae/maggots. The target group had been able to produce fish/livestock feed from the larvae and developed plans to use the business results for the commercial market. One thing that becomes the next challenge is how to build continuity of feed availability for the maggot caterpillars, especially from household organic food leftovers in the group members' environment. In conclusion, the application of organic waste processing technology with maggot caterpillar cultivation is very potential to overcome the problem of waste in their neighborhood so that it can then be applied more widely in the city of Bukittinggi, to be able to overcome the problem of urban organic waste.
