Abstract

Increasing soybean productivity in Indonesia remains a challenge due to infertile soil and a lack of research on the most suitable varieties of soybeans. One strategy to address consistently low yields is the introduction of edamame cultivars, which are native to the subtropics. The purpose of this study is to examine the adaptation, production, and quality of edamame soybean products in the Aceh Medium Plain, Indonesia. Three edamame soybean cultivars, namely Riocos 305, Biomax 1, and Biomax 2, have been tested at an elevation of 612 m above sea level in the soil of the Andisols order. The three cultivars exhibited distinct responses in terms of growth, production, and seed quality. Biomax 1 showed the highest productivity, with a seed yield of 2.10 t/ha, compared to 0.95 t/ha for Riocos 305 and 0.64 t/ha for Biomax 2. While the three cultivars exhibited similar seed quality, the nutrient composition differed between mature seeds and dried seeds.

Abstract

Abstract: The province of Aceh has a wealth of local varieties, such as Aceh's local rice, which comes in various types and plays a crucial role in human life. Therefore, it needs to be managed and utilized in a sustainable, harmonious, and balanced manner for the greatest prosperity of the people. The conservation and utilization of the Aceh Sambay Simeulue local rice germplasm have been successfully carried out through systematic field surveys, coordination with the government, and community outreach. The tested Sambay Simeulue rice has yielded 20 pure lines in the early generation. Socialization, conservation, and rice breeding activities have produced candidates for new superior varieties, which have been implemented on Simeulue Island. The new superior rice lines resulting from the selection process exhibit promising characteristics, including productivity reaching 8 tons/ha and excellent rice taste. As a result, the utilization of Sambay Simeulue superior rice has been enhanced by increasing support for the supply of superior varieties through partnerships. Additionally, efforts have been made to strengthen seed institutions for large-scale production. By optimizing seed production on a wider scale, the use of quality seeds from superior varieties, produced through community service, can be further increased.

Abstract

The purpose of the service is to support the realization of sustainable food in Bueng Pageu Village, Blang Bintang Sub-District, Aceh Besar District. The activity is through increasing the capacity of farmers and PPLs with the technology of making solid and liquid compost easily and simply. The method used is a field school that involves the participation of farmers and PPLs directly who were previously given training on the technique of making solid and liquid compost and how to use it. The results of the activity showed that there has been an increase in the knowledge capacity of farmers in the manufacture and application of solid and liquid compost fertilizers reaching 52.87%. The decomposition process in producing solid compost takes 4 weeks, the results obtained are around 1200 kg with a potential economic value of Rp. 3,120,000 and 50 L of liquid compost with an economic value of Rp. 1,750,000. Making compost from agricultural waste and household waste can increase the community's revenue while overcoming health problems and environmental aesthetic value.
