Twenty aerobics instructor participate in this study subjects (n = 20; consisted of 15 women and 5 men). Data was collected using physical fitness tests and health checks. The medical examination consisted of measurements of (1) body mass index (BMI), (2) percent of body fat (3) waist circumference (4) vital sign and (5) blood checks use strip test (blood sugar and uric acid). Physical fitness measured by bleep test. BMI measurement results indicate that 5 (25%) instructors are categorized as normal, 7 are instructors (35%) categorized as overweight, and 8 instructors are (40%) categorized as obese. Waist circumference measurement show an average values of 69.8 cm for man and 70.37 cm for women, respectively. Abstract

This study aims to determine the level of success in providing continuous running and interval training methods to adolescent athletes in Balikpapan, especially in athletics, as well as to determine the load and portion of training that is appropriate to the athlete's age limit, and find out what the percentage of success is. The training methods that will be used are the continuous running method and interval training methods, including (long slow/recovery, medium, high, interval principles, intensive and extensive). The research method used is quantitative with descriptive statistical techniques. The research population was male youth athletes aged 15 to 16 years in Balikpapan, East Kalimantan. This sample was determined based on purposive sampling. The data collection technique uses test instruments consisting of a 400 m test and a balke test. The technical analysis of research data uses descriptive statistical techniques during 6 months of practice. The author uses a paired sample test with a decision basis if Sig. (2-tailed) 0.05 then there is a significant difference and conversely if Sig, (2-tailed) 0.05 then there is no significance. It is known that the Sig value. (2-tailed) is 0.022 0.05 so the author can conclude that there is a difference between before and after being given speed and endurance training, and can also be seen from the percentage data before treatment of 75% and after treatment of 86%. Conclusion Continuous run and interval training methods are very effective in increasing endurance and are important supports in improving athlete performance.

Abstract

Anthropometry is a science created from a new scientific sub-discipline called physical anthropology which is an implication of the development of anthropological studies. Anthropometry plays a very important role in the world of sports. An ideal anthropometric composition and supported by good technique will produce an athlete's excellent performance in the competition. Anthropometric characteristics, body composition and mass contribute to training and competition performance. Therefore, researchers have developed a multifunctional anthropometric measurement tool, several test items can be carried out simultaneously with the use of this tool, this tool is called 'Multiantro". The tests that can be done simultaneously with this tool are height, weight, sitting height and arm length tests. However, this tool still requires further review, so this study is intended to conduct a concurrent validity test phase of the Multiantro tool so that the results of its measurement can be accounted for. The method used was a cross-sectional design in which data from two instruments, a new instrument and a standardized instrument, were then collected at the same time from the same sample. The new instrument was tested to determine whether the results were consistent with the standardized measurement tool. The analysis results show that there is no significant difference between measurements using the Multiantro tool and measurements using conventional tools that have been standardized before. So it can be concluded that the Multiantro tool is also reliable in anthropometric measurements, just as when using previously existing tools. Even with this tool, tests can be carried out more practically because one tool is used to carry out four different types of test items.

Abstract

Background Problems: Kurash is a traditional martial art and sport that plays an important role in promoting physical culture and a healthy lifestyle among young people. However, the specific physical and psychological factors that influence performance in Kurash, a martial arts sport, remain unclear. Research Objectives: This study aims to identify the dominant physical and psychological elements affecting Kurash sport performance. Methods: A quantitative, descriptive correlational approach was employed, involving 12 coaches and 40 Kurash athletes from South Kalimantan. Physical indicators were measured using anthropometric data (e.g., height, arm length) and biomotor skills (e.g., muscle strength, flexibility, speed). Aerobic tests assessed physiological capacity, and validated questionnaires evaluated psychological factors such as anxiety, concentration, self-confidence, and motivation. Data analysis was conducted using Partial Least Squares (PLS). Findings and Results: The study's results revealed two main findings. First, the dominant physical factors in kurash sport include arm muscle strength, back and leg muscle strength, flexibility, balance, arm muscle explosiveness, speed, and aerobic capacity. Meanwhile, the main psychological factors are anxiety and self-confidence. Secondly, physiological, biomotor, and psychological aspects were shown to contribute 68.7% to kurash sport performance, while anthropometric data was deemed insufficient to determine the main factors affecting performance. Biomotor, physiological, and psychological variables had a significant influence on kurash sport. Conclusion: The findings demonstrate that biomotor, physiological, and psychological factors substantially affect the performance of Kurash athletes. However, certain constraints, such as the restricted sample size and lack of longitudinal assessment, affected the results. Future research should use larger samples and more comprehensive approaches to investigate the development of physical and psychological elements in Kurash.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of plyometric training before and after smash technique training. This type of research is an experiment with a two group, the two groups are the plyometric group before technique training (BTT) and the plyometric group after technique training (ATT). The sample was 20 male and age 18-19 years, then grouped through ordinal pairing. The training program was carried out for 6 weeks with 18 meetings. Plyometric training program: squats, sit-ups, fence jumping, push-ups, up and down the bench, back-up, skipping, jack kneef, shuttle run, stabilization, sedo smash, step and shoulder. The program is 8 – 10 repetitions, 2 – 3 sets, recovery between sets 2 – 3 minutes, intensity 85% - 95%. Meanwhile, the smash technique training program is a drill accompanied by a coach with a total duration of 60 minutes. Data collection for smash skills as a pretest-posttest using the Stanley test. The t-test result (p<0.05), ATT shows Sig. 0.002, than BTT Sig. 0.078. Independent t-test (p<0.05) also shows that there is a difference between BTT and ATT is Sig. 0.042. Conclusion is placing plyometric training after a smash technique training session (ATT) is more effective in improving smash ability for male volleyball athletes aged 18-19 years. This study recommends scheduling plyometrics after technique training as a more optimal strategy, supporting better athletic performance and efficient recovery, while minimizing the risk of injury and fatigue.
