Abstract

Abstract Histology is science that learns about cell, organ, and body tissues in a microscopic condition. Whereas science that learns about morbidity or patology of a tissue that's called as histopatology. Both of normal tissue's structure and abnormal tissue's stucturecan be learned by microscopic in a tissue preparation. This preparation made through processing of tissue until the preparation coloured. Then histology's structure can be watched clearly so that make it easy to read. Field Work Practice purpose (PKL) this is to know the basic histoloy technique in fish. This Field Work Practice was held in Balai Uji Standar Karantina Ikan Pengendalian Mutu dan Keamanan Hasil Perikanan (BUSKIPM) Jl. Harapan I No. 01A Cilangkap, East Jakarta on 14th January 2013 until 14th February 2013. Abstract

Abstract Aquaculture production from 2010 to 2014 has increased. The average increase catfish production reached 35%. Increased production resulted in increased seed requirement can be met if the fish seed production is done in bulk and sustainable. The use of artificial feeding has an important role to support aquaculture activities. Sangkuriang catfish broodstock must obtain amino acids from protein feed for the growth of reproductive glands, development and construction of new tissue and repair damaged tissue. Earthworm protein quality higher than meat and fish proteins make earthworms likely used as fish feed ingredients. Purpose of this study is to know aplication of the addition earthworm (Lumbricus rubellus) at the sangkuriang catfish (Clarias sp.) broodstock feed. Study was conducted in BBPBAT Sukabumi, West Java on January 20 to February 14, 2014. Working methods used is a descriptive method. Data were collected by means of observation, participation and interviews. The process of making the sangkuriang catfish broodstock feed with the addition of earthworms consists of several stages of harvesting earthworms, weighing, mixing some of the material feed, milling, mixing the remaining feed ingredients, printing, and storage. Proximate analysis showed higher levels of crude protein (PK) of the parent sangkuriang catfish feed by 28%.

Abstract

Abstract Preservation is a human effort to enhance durability and shelf life of the fish that the quality of fish remains in good condition. Irregularities in the use of formalin preservation would endanger the health of consumers. Cottonseed is containing compounds of Raffinose, proteins, fats that are cryoprotectants to cells and antimicrobe, that use of cottonseed to suppress use of formalin as a preservative of fish in the community. The method used by dissolving cottonseeds in organic solvents, where in the organic solvent effective to extract the active ingredients in cottonseed. The results showed use of cotton seed extract is 100% equal to 100% use of formalin in maintaining the quality of the fish. This is evidenced by organoleptic tests, pH and bacterial tests. Expected with these results, cottonseed can be a substitute for use of formalin.
