Abstract

 Air merupakan kebutuhan yang sangat penting bagi manusia, baik secara langsung maupun tidak langsung. Air merupakan kebutuhan mutlak untuk kelangsungan hidup. Dimana diatur dalam Peraturan Menteri Kesehatan Republik Indonesia No.416/Menkes/Per/XI/1990, tentang kualitas air bersih di daerah perbukitan atau di daerah pegunungan kapur menyebabkan kondisi sumber air bersih tercemar terutama di sumur gali di sekitarnya. penggunaan air sumur yang tercampur kapur secara berlebihan dan berulang dapat berdampak buruk bagi kesehatan tubuh, salah satunya penyakit ginjal. Kegiatan pengabdian berupa edukasi kreatif terkait pengaruh konsumsi air minum terhadap fungsi ginjal ini dilakuakan dengan metode ceramah. Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat berupa edukasi kreatif agar masyarakat dapat lebih mudah memahami penyakit ginjal yang disebabkan oleh konsumsi air yang mengandung kapur baik terkait penyebab, bahaya, dampak, dan pencegahan secara baik. Melalui kegiatan ini terjalin kerjasama antara institusi perguruan tinggi dengan pemerintah daerah yaitu desa setempat dalam upaya mengurang faktor resiko penyakit ginjal. Kegiatan edukasi ini diharapkan dapat berkelanjutan sehingga masyarakat lebih memahami cara-cara pencegahan.

Abstract

ABSTRAK Setiap individu akan mengalami masa lanjut usia sebagai bagian dari siklus kehidupannya. seseorang dikategorikan sebagai lanjut usia ketika mencapai usia 60 tahun atau lebih. Munculnya masalah kesehatan pada populasi lanjut usia bisa terjadi relatif awal, bahkan di usia 40-an atau 50-an. Sistem perkemihan merupakan salah satu sistem tubuh yang sangat mudah mengalami penurunan fungsi, dan gangguan pada sistem ini seringkali menimbulkan dampak yang cukup serius, seperti gangguan perkemihan yang umum terjadi. Salah satunya adalah inkontinensia urin. Inkontinensia urin ditandai dengan ketidakmampuan tubuh mengontrol pengeluaran urin, yang terjadi tanpa disadari oleh penderitanya. Untuk mengatasi keluhan tersebut dapat dilakukan dengan exercise, yaitu penguatan otot – otot panggul dengan pelvic floor muscle exercise (PFME). Tujuan  pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini diharapkan dapat memberikan edukasi kepada lansia ibu – ibu Aisyiyah tentang  penatalaksanaan inkontinensia  urin  di RT 12, Kel. Mojo, Kec. Gubeng, Surabaya. Pelatihan ini menggunakan presentasi PowerPoint, tanya jawab, dan pemutaran video latihan serta demonstrasi teknik latihan yang dapat dilakukan secara mandiri. Evaluasi pre-test dan post-test dilakukan dengan kuesioner. Hasil  dari  kegiatan  ini  didapatkan  para  peserta  menunjukkan sikap yang positif selama  mengikuti kegiatan pengabdian dari awal sampai akhir dan adanya peningkatan pemahaman tentang isi materi yang disampaikan serta pelatihan yang diberikan. Perlu  diadakan  penyuluhan  kesehatan  secara  berkelanjutan  pada  lansia  agar tercapai kehidupan lansia yang sehat dan bugar. Kata Kunci: Lansia, Inkontinensia Urin, Latihan Otot Panggul  ABSTRACT Every individual will experience old age as a part of their life cycle. A person is categorized as elderly upon reaching the age of 60 years or older. The onset of health issues in the elderly population can occur relatively early, even in their 40 or 50 years old. The urinary system is one of the bodily systems particularly susceptible to functional decline, and disturbances in this system often lead to significant consequences, such as the common occurrence of urinary disorders. One such disorder is urinary incontinence. Urinary incontinence is characterized by the body's inability to control urin output, which occurs involuntarily. To address these complaints, exercise can be performed, specifically strengthening the pelvic muscles with pelvic floor muscle exercise (PFME). This community service aims to educate elderly mothers of Aisyiyah in RT 12, Kelurahan Mojo, Kecamatan Gubeng, Surabaya, regarding the management of urinary incontinence. This training utilizes PowerPoint presentations, question-and-answer sessions, and showing exercise videos along with demonstrations of exercise techniques that can be performed independently. Pre-test and post-test evaluations are conducted using questionnaires. The results of this activity showed that the participants displayed a positive attitude throughout the community service, from beginning to end, and demonstrated an increased understanding of the presented material and the provided training. It is necessary to conduct continuous health education for the elderly to achieve a healthy and fit later life. Keywords: Elderly, Urinary Incontinence, Pelvic Floor Muscle Exercise

Abstract

The rise in food poisoning incidents lately has made researchers want to know if there is bacterial contamination in kilo snacks which are always the top choice for serving and serving at certain events such as celebrations, recitations, thanksgiving, weddings, and other events because the prices are cheaper and the taste is better. not inferior to packaged snacks. Many places selling kilo snacks are found in traditional markets which generally have low environmental conditions of air circulation and high humidity, so they can become breeding grounds for harmful microbes, one of which is bacteria that can pollute the environment and reduce the cleanliness of indoor air. The aim is to find out the bacterial contamination of kilo snacks sold in traditional markets. The population in this study was a total of 5 types of kilo snacks in traditional markets. The sample in this study were 30 samples of 5 types of kilo snacks were tested using the Total Plate Number method. No samples of kilo snacks were found that did not meet the Indonesian National Standard (SNI). Kilo snacks sold in traditional markets meet the requirements of the Indonesian National Standard (SNI) Number 7388 of 2009

Abstract

Background: The ABO blood group is known to affect the levels of several coagulation factors, such as factor VIII and von Willebrand factor (vWF), which can affect the results of coagulation time. This study aims to analyze the relationship between ABO blood group and the coagulation parameters Activated Partial Thromboplastin Time (APTT) and Prothrombin Time (PT). Methods: This analytical cross-sectional study involved 45 healthy Medical Laboratory Technology students from Muhammadiyah University of Surabaya. Inclusion criteria were healthy volunteers; exclusion criteria included bleeding disorders, recent transfusion, smoking, or refusal to consent. Conducted in May 2025 at the Clinical Pathology Laboratory, data were analyzed using one-way ANOVA. Ethical approval was obtained from KEPK FIK Muhammadiyah University of Surabaya (No. 057/KEPK/F/V/FIK/2025). Results: The test results showed that the distribution of APTT and PT data was normal and homogeneous. There was a significant difference between blood groups on APTT values (p = 0.006), but there was no significant difference on PT values (p = 0.605). Blood type O has a higher APTT value than other blood types. Conclusion: There is a significant relationship between ABO blood group and APTT values, but not with PT. The difference in APTT values may be influenced by lower vWF and factor VIII levels in blood group O. This finding is important to consider in the interpretation of coagulation test results in clinical laboratories.

Abstract

Pesticides are substances or chemicals used in agriculture, forestry, horticulture and public land to increase crop yields. Up to now, pesticides are the main choice for farmers to protect plants from the influence of various plant-disturbing organisms. Exposure to pesticides on the body can have a negative impact on components in the body, including blood. Pesticides can be estimated as one of the factors that affect the blood profile, one of which is thrombocyte. The purpose of this study was to determine the description of platelet levels in farmers exposed to pesticides in Trece Village, Mojokerto Regency. This research was a descriptive study with an observational design. This research was conducted by checking the thrombocyte count of farmers in Trece Village, Mojokerto Regency, which was carried out automatically using a hematology analyzer. The results showed that the farmers of Trece Village, Mojokerto Regency who had normal platelet levels were 26 people with a percentage of 87% and 4 people with a low percentage of 13%. The conclusion in this study is that not all reductions in thrombocyte levels are due to exposure to pesticides and not always those who exposed to pesticides have low thrombocyte level.

Abstract

Hepatitis B infection remains a global health problem with long-term complications such as cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma. Alcohol consumption is known to impair immune function and exacerbate hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection. Fishermen represent a high-risk occupational group due to alcohol consumption habits and limited healthcare access. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between alcohol consumption levels and hepatitis B infection status through HBsAg testing and lymphocyte count among fishermen. This was a descriptive observational study with a cross-sectional approach involving 40 fishermen in Gresik Regency. Data were collected through alcohol consumption questionnaires and laboratory tests, including HBsAg examination using a Rapid Test and lymphocyte count using a hematology analyzer. Data were analyzed using Chi-square and ANOVA tests with a significance level of p < 0.05. A total of 30% of respondents were HBsAg reactive, with the highest proportion found in the heavy alcohol consumption group (50%). The mean lymphocyte count decreased with increasing alcohol intake: 2.580 ± 420 cells/µL in the light group, 2.120 ± 390 cells/µL in the moderate group, and 1.780 ± 360 cells/µL in the heavy group (p = 0.012). There was a significant relationship between alcohol consumption level, HBsAg status, and lymphocyte count among fishermen. High alcohol consumption may reduce cellular immunity and increase the risk of persistent hepatitis B infection. HBsAg testing and lymphocyte count can serve as early indicators for health screening in high-risk occupational groups such as fishermen.

Abstract

Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) remains a major health problem in endemic regions, requiring accurate laboratory examinations to support diagnosis. Serological testing of immunoglobulin G (IgG) and immunoglobulin M (IgM) is widely used to differentiate between primary and secondary dengue infections. This study aimed to analyze the serological profile of IgG and IgM as indicators of primary and secondary dengue infection in patients with DHF. A descriptive cross-sectional design was employed using secondary data from 170 patients who underwent IgG and IgM testing at RSUD Haji Surabaya. Data were analyzed descriptively by calculating frequency distributions and percentages. The results showed that the distribution was dominated by IgG positive and IgM negative findings (62%), followed by both IgG and IgM positive (17%), IgM positive only (10%), and both negative results (11%). These findings indicate that most patients experienced secondary dengue infection. Therefore, IgG and IgM serological testing plays an important role in determining the phase of dengue infection; however, it should be combined with other diagnostic methods to improve diagnostic accuracy.

Abstract

Superficial fungal infections remain a significant public health concern in tropical countries, including Indonesia. High humidity, intense physical activity, and inadequate personal hygiene increase the risk of fungal colonization on the skin, particularly in the interdigital spaces of the hands. Community education integrated with laboratory examination represents an effective preventive strategy to improve public awareness while enabling early detection of fungal colonization. This community service program aimed to improve participants' knowledge regarding the prevention of superficial fungal infections and to identify fungal colonization through interdigital hand swab examination. The activity was conducted at Yonif Kodam V/Brawijaya, Surabaya, in collaboration with the Bonek Bonita Surabaya community, involving 25 participants. Health education was delivered through interactive lectures and discussions covering risk factors, transmission, clinical manifestations, and preventive measures. Laboratory examination was performed using Sabouraud Dextrose Agar (SDA) culture followed by microscopic identification using 10% potassium hydroxide (KOH) preparation and Lactophenol Cotton Blue (LPCB) staining. Laboratory findings demonstrated fungal growth in 7 participants (28%), whereas 18 participants (72%) showed negative culture results. The isolated fungi were identified as Candida spp. and Aspergillus spp.. The educational intervention successfully enhanced participants' understanding of proper hand hygiene and the importance of early laboratory detection of superficial fungal infections. This collaborative program demonstrates that laboratory-based community education can serve as an effective model for promoting early detection and prevention of superficial fungal infections.
