Abstract

This community service activity aims to provide assistance in the development of horticultural cultivation in Dusun Mongge 2, Sukadana Village. The activity is a follow-up to the horticulture training conducted in early October 2023 at the Sukadana village office. The assistance is carried out in the form of hands-on gardening practices by local residents, particularly housewives, with the hope of improving household food security and creating home-based business opportunities. Support was provided in the form of horticultural seeds (eggplant, tomato, chili, bitter melon, zucchini, golden mama, etc.), polybags, soil, rice husks, manure, and plant protection nets. The assistance process is conducted periodically and includes technical education on cultivation, management of growing media, and the use of organic waste (livestock manure) as fertilizer. This approach aims to reduce dependence on chemical fertilizers while improving soil fertility and crop quality. Preliminary results show good plant growth and enthusiastic participation from the residents. It is hoped that this activity will not only strengthen household food security but also serve as an alternative source of income, particularly for housewives without permanent employment.

Abstract

Mongge-2 Hamlet, one of the hamlets in the Penyangga Village area. Services activity accompanied by assistance in processing livestock manure to produce organic fertilizer to support sustainable integrated farming system in this hamlet. The aim is to empower the community with productive activities through optimizing the potential of natural resources and human resources by involving relevant stakeholders. This service activity will be carried out in 2023, starting with a location survey activity. The next activity is coordinated to determine target communities to be given regular counseling and assistance to produce solid organic fertilizer and how to apply it in the field. After the outreach and mentoring activities are carried out, monitoring, reporting and publication are carried out. The organic fertilizer produced is applied to garden and agricultural cultivation around Mongge-2 Hamlet. This organic fertilizer is expected to play a role in improving the soil and is expected to reduce the use of synthetic fertilizers and increase the fertility of the media used. so that agricultural products are healthier for consumption. Further research needs to be carried out to determine the content of the organic fertilizer produced and its effect on the growth of agricultural cultivation of certain commodities.

Abstract

Di tengah tantangan global dan kebutuhan akan sistem pertanian yang berkelanjutan, kemitraan internasional menjadi jembatan penting dalam memperkuat kapasitas lokal. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini merupakan bagian dari kemitraan internasional antara Universitas Mataram, Okayama University, dan Wakai Farm Jepang yang bertujuan untuk memperkuat kapasitas petani lokal dalam menerapkan sistem pertanian terpadu berbasis sumber daya lokal. Kegiatan dilaksanakan di Desa Segala Anyar melalui pendekatan partisipatif yang mencakup pelatihan teknis, pendampingan, dan pertukaran pengetahuan lintas budaya. Fokus utama meliputi pembuatan mikroorganisme lokal (MOL), produksi pupuk organik dari kotoran sapi dalam bentuk tabur dan pelet, serta integrasinya dalam budidaya hortikultura pola micro-farming. Pelatihan dan pendampingan oleh Wakai Farm dilakukan secara langsung dengan di Desa Segala Anyar dan online pada saat berada di Jepang.  Interaksi antara kelompok mitra (MSI) dan petani maju dari Jepang mendorong adopsi praktik pertanian berkelanjutan dan meningkatkan motivasi produksi pupuk organik secara mandiri. Sebagai bagian dari upaya mendorong keberlanjutan produksi pupuk organik, Wakai Farm memberikan dukungan peralatan produksi kepada kelompok MSI. Bantuan tersebut berasal dari hibah Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) dan difokuskan pada penguatan kapasitas teknis dalam pengolahan limbah organik menjadi produk bernilai tambah. Dukungan ini tidak hanya bersifat teknologis, tetapi juga strategis dalam membangun fondasi produksi yang berkelanjutan dan berbasis lokal. Selain itu, kegiatan PKM turut menghadirkan narasumber dari alumni Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Mataram, yakni pemilik Klinik Tani Suria Wangi, sebagai representasi praktik baik (best practice) dalam kewirausahaan pupuk organik. Kehadiran narasumber ini memberikan inspirasi dan wawasan praktis kepada kelompok MSI, sekaligus memperkuat jejaring kemitraan antara komunitas petani dan pelaku usaha. Dukungan aktif dari pemerintah desa turut memperkuat inisiasi komersialisasi dan keberlanjutan program. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan dalam pengetahuan, keterampilan, dan keberdayaan mitra, serta terbentuknya jejaring lokal dan internsional mitra. Sinergi antara dukungan internasional dan pemerintah desa, pengalaman lokal, dan partisipasi aktif mitra menjadi elemen kunci dalam mendorong transformasi sistem pertanian yang lebih adaptif dan berkelanjutan.
