Abstract

The phenomenon of the high number of workers who are not absorbed in the workforce in Indonesia is a problem that is difficult to solve briefly. The lack of employment opportunities accompanied by problems with the level of education and expertise of the workforce in Indonesia has also become a polemic in the national development process. However, another fact occurs where workers tend to choose to leave several leading sectors in Indonesia, such as the financial sector, especially banking. It is feared that this condition will cause the banking sector as one of the sectors that drive the national economy, to lose qualified and loyal workers so that it will have an impact on production inefficiency in the banking sector and eventually will directly impact the community considering the function of the bank as an intermediary institution. This study aims to reveal the motives for changing workers' behaviour in banking by using qualitative methods and a phenomenological approach. This research is expected to contribute to the improvement of the employment system in the financial sector, especially banking, to absorb qualified and loyal workers to the company. Thus, macroeconomically, it is to reduce the voluntary unemployment rate in order to accelerate national development as a whole.

Abstract

For sharia financial institutions that runs their business based on the philosophy of the Qur'an and Sunnah, social performance is the basis for actors in interacting with the environment and each other. One method of reporting social performance for sharia companies is the Islamic Social Reporting Index method (ISR). However, this method is still considered inappropriate to be applied to sharia financial institutions, which requires sharia financial institutions to develop their own social strategies. This research aims to determine the strategy for achieving social performance in the Dau branch of the Kanindo Syariah cooperative and to dig deeper into the reasons why the ISR method is not suitable for application to Sharia Financial Institutions. This research uses descriptive qualitative research methods. The results of the research shows that Kanindo Syariah Dau branch has a strategy consisting of collecting and dsitributing social funds internally and externally. As for the ISR method, three conclusions were obtained which are the reasons why this method is not appropriate for sharia financial institutions, (1) lack of concern for the environment, (2) lack of understanding regarding maqashid sharia, and (3) lack of suitability for the environmental theme of the institutions which operates in the financial sector. Keywords: Strategy, Social performance, Islamic Social Reporting Index, Sharia Financial Institutions, Environment.

Abstract

Mie Gacoan is a spicy noodle restaurant that was founded in early 2016. Mie Gacoan is now spread in almost all big cities in Indonesia. One of them is Malang City, where Mie Gacoan was founded. In recent years, Mie Gacoan has always been busy with buyers, either eating on the spot or buying via the online application. This research aims to determine the factors that influence Muslim consumers repurchase interest in Mie Gacoan in Malang City using the variables halal certification, EWOM and product quality. This research used a questionnaire by taking 153 respondents. The sampling technique used is a probability sampling technique with a simple random sampling method. The analysis technique used is multiple linear regression analysis. The results of the T test state that the EWOM variable and product quality partially have a positive and significant effect on repurchase interest. Meanwhile, halal certification does not have a significant effect on repurchase intention. The results of the F test show that halal certification, e-wom, and product quality simultaneously influence repurchase interest.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to analyze four factors that are thought to influence the muzakki's decision to carry out zakat payments through zakat institutions, namely transparency, accountability, service quality and muzakki income. Researchers used quantitative methods with Structural Equation Model Partial Least Square (SEM-PLS) analysis. The number of respondents involved in this research was 124 respondents. The results of the analysis show that the variables transparency, service quality and muzakki's income have a significant positive effect on muzakki's decision to carry out zakat payments through zakat institutions. Meanwhile, the accountability variable does not have a significant influence on the muzakki's decision to carry out zakat payments through zakat institutions. It is hoped that this research can become an additional reference for the government, zakat institutions and academics in an effort to increase muzakki's trust in zakat institutions. Efforts that can be made are to pay attention to aspects of institutional transparency and accountability, namely by actively publishing financial reports and distributing zakat funds. In this way, existing zakat funds can be utilized optimally.

Abstract

Purpose This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the Rumah Gemilang Indonesia (RGI) empowerment program in improving the material and spiritual welfare of mustahik, aligning with Islamic principles of holistic well-being. Design/methodology/approach A mixed methods approach was employed, integrating qualitative in-depth interviews with program managers and participants and a quantitative survey of 200 respondents. The CIBEST model was used to measure welfare dimensions, while data reliability was ensured through Pearson-Correlation and Cronbach's Alpha tests. Findings The study reveals a significant improvement in participants' welfare, with average incomes rising from IDR 615,821 to IDR 2,829,000, exceeding the poverty line. Spiritual well-being also improved, indicated by consistent worship practices and stronger religious values. CIBEST analysis showed an increase in mustahik in the prosperous quadrant and a reduction in absolute poverty. Key program strengths included holistic training, family support, and post-program assistance. Research limitations/implications The findings are limited to the specific context of the RGI program and may not fully generalize to other empowerment models. The study underscores the importance of integrating material and spiritual dimensions in zakat-based empowerment initiatives. Originality/value This research fills a gap in evaluating zakat-based empowerment programs through a holistic lens, combining material, spiritual, and social impacts. It contributes to the literature on Islamic economics by demonstrating the practical application of the CIBEST model in poverty alleviation and welfare enhancement.

Abstract

Indonesia is the most generous country. Since the time of the Islamic Kingdom, there are forms of social funds, like zakat, infaq, alms, waqf, qurban, and grants. The existence and activities of Social Organisations and Social Non-Profit Institutions (ORSOLANILA) collections and distributions of funds have so far not been taken into account in national income. Whereas their actions can help to improve the Indonesian economy. Therefore, this study aims to examine the importance of ORSOLANILA in Indonesia and support the Islamic macroeconomic theory proposed by Dumairy. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative with the type of library research. The results of this study state that ORSOLANILA’s roles are crucial in the national economy. Comparison data between Social Fund and Real GDP shows that have the different trend. Social funds increased while Real GDP dropped in the same period. This can show that the number of social funds when included in the macroeconomic calculation as a social sector can increase the amount of GDP. So it is necessary to pay attention to the Islamic economic model in calculating national income because of its impact which is provide a mechanism for economic stabilization in situations crisis or disaster and increasing investment in social and infrastructure projects that support long-term economic growth.

Abstract

Economic inequality is a crucial issue, especially in border areas where economic development is often uneven. This study analyzes the Theil Index to measure economic disparity in border areas of West Kalimantan from 2019 to 2023. The findings reveal that Sanggau Regency consistently has the highest Theil Index, reaching 4.307 in 2021, indicating severe economic inequality. Kapuas Hulu Regency also exhibits an increasing trend, with its Theil Index reaching 2.429 in 2023, suggesting widening disparities. Meanwhile, Sambas and Bengkayang Regencies maintain relatively stable and lower indices, indicating more evenly distributed economic conditions. Singkawang City, as an economic hub, shows fluctuating inequality trends but remains among the higher indices. This research contributes a novel perspective by focusing on economic inequality in border areas, which has often been discussed at the national level rather than in localized studies. The findings highlight the unique economic challenges faced by border regions, emphasizing the need for more inclusive policies, infrastructure development, and cross-border economic optimization to ensure equitable economic growth in West Kalimantan’s border areas.
