Abstract

For sharia financial institutions that runs their business based on the philosophy of the Qur'an and Sunnah, social performance is the basis for actors in interacting with the environment and each other. One method of reporting social performance for sharia companies is the Islamic Social Reporting Index method (ISR). However, this method is still considered inappropriate to be applied to sharia financial institutions, which requires sharia financial institutions to develop their own social strategies. This research aims to determine the strategy for achieving social performance in the Dau branch of the Kanindo Syariah cooperative and to dig deeper into the reasons why the ISR method is not suitable for application to Sharia Financial Institutions. This research uses descriptive qualitative research methods. The results of the research shows that Kanindo Syariah Dau branch has a strategy consisting of collecting and dsitributing social funds internally and externally. As for the ISR method, three conclusions were obtained which are the reasons why this method is not appropriate for sharia financial institutions, (1) lack of concern for the environment, (2) lack of understanding regarding maqashid sharia, and (3) lack of suitability for the environmental theme of the institutions which operates in the financial sector. Keywords: Strategy, Social performance, Islamic Social Reporting Index, Sharia Financial Institutions, Environment.

Abstract

One of the flagship commodities with great potential for Indonesia's economic growth is black pepper (Piper nigrum L). The importance of maintaining Indonesia's competitiveness in black pepper exports, both in the domestic and international markets, has increased in tandem with the rising export volume, with the primary determinant of its competitiveness being the demand for black pepper. Data from the 2021 plantation balance sheet recorded black pepper exports at 39,961.36 tons and black pepper imports at 295.37 tons, while tea exports reached 46,003.88 tons with tea imports at 10,442.75 tons. This research aims to analyze the influence of factors such as Gross Domestic Product (GDP), exchange rate, tariffs, and distance on Indonesian black pepper exports, adopting a research model similar to the one used by Shepotylo (2012), which utilizes econometric modeling, with a quantitative and descriptive analysis approach. The research results indicate that the Gross Domestic Product variable has a negative and significant impact on Export Value, with a probability value of t < 0.05, indicating a significant influence. On the other hand, the Exchange Rate and Tariff variables have a negative but non-significant impact on Export Value, with a probability value of t > 0.05, indicating their lack of significance. Furthermore, the research findings also reveal that the Distance variable has a significant negative impact on Export Value, with a probability value of t < 0.05, indicating a significant influence.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the influence of macroeconomic variables on the movement of the Jakarta Islamic Index (JII) during the period 2011-2022. The considered macroeconomic variables encompass economic growth, inflation, interest rates, exchange rates, and the Composite Stock Price Index (IHSG). The analytical method employed is regression analysis, complemented by classical assumption tests. The research findings indicate that inflation, interest rates, and IHSG significantly influence the movement of JII, while economic growth and exchange rates do not exhibit significant effects. The implications of these findings underscore the importance of considering macroeconomic factors in making investment decisions within the Sharia-compliant capital market, particularly concerning JII. However, it is essential to acknowledge certain limitations in this study, such as data constraints and generalization limitations. Therefore, the results should be interpreted cautiously, taking into account other potential factors that may impact the movement of JII.
