Abstract

In the manufacturing industries, the main problem in process of operating CNC milling machine was chatter effect (self-excited vibration) which increases the quality of the surface roughness. In this study is to determine optimal value of parameters for chatter and surface roughness. The chatter measured using accelerometer MPU-6050 with Arduino by software LabVIEW-2019 based on peaks-FFT value and the surface roughness measured by SJ-301 tester. The research parameters like variable helix angle, spindle speed, feed rate, and depth of cut using stainless steel 304 by Taguchi method. The optimum parameters value obtained are variable helix 35/38 degrees, spindle speed 3000 RPM, feed rate 150 mm/min and depth of cut 0.4 mm. Based on ANOVA value, the variable helix angle and depth of cut are found to be significant for chatter and surface roughness. The depth of cut was high contribution by ANOVA chatter by 93.84% and surface roughness by 91.93%.

Abstract

Quality improvement is important to reach customer satisfaction and gain the competitive advantage. This research was using the Taguchi experiment design to obtain a combination of roasting parameters, which could in turn improve the quality of coffee powder. During the roasting process, the acids that were naturally contained in coffee beans were transformed into acetic acid, malic acid, citric acid, and phosphoric acid, which in turn contributed to the coffee’s actual taste. Several key factors contributed to the taste of coffee powders, namely roasting temperature, roasting time, the weight per roasting, and cooling time. The significance factor to improve quality of Robusta coffee powder namely roasting temperature on 185 °C, roasting time in 20 minutes, weight per roasting is 7.5 kilograms and cooling time is 10 minutes. The organoleptic tests of the resulting coffee powders showed an average of 4.93 with regards to consumer rating. The experiment result revealed the optimal setting level that should be applied in the production process of coffee powders for gaining better quality and thus more favourable to consumers.

Abstract

Krebet Baru I Sugar Factory is a producer of sugar that operate on the milling season that start from June until November 2015. The problem that occured in the Krebet Baru I were ineffectively and inefficiently spare parts inventory policy that cause stockout and led to production process stoppage. This research used FNS analysis for the classification spare parts and EOQ Probabilistic method for calculation of stockout probability, optimum Q and ROP,  total cost, also service level which were would be compared with existing policy. The research resulted that 44 types of spare parts categorized as urgent, 8 types else categorized as critical. EOQ Probabilistic method was chosen as the best method of control policy, with total cost reduction  by 12%-93% and service level increase by 995-100% than existing policy which resulted a total cost by Rp 5.004.890 – Rp 142.647.057 and service level by 0%-30%.

Abstract

2000 times of downtime had been occurred during year 2013 to 2014 in Tjoekir sugar factory. The most serious downtime occurred in mill. Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) was employed to analyze the probability score and implement Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) to find out impact score of risk event. The results of FTA indicate that risk event in cane cutter blade had the highest probability score, while results of AHP shows that the decrease of steam pressure in turbine drive had the highest impact score. The scores classified in risk class and mapped in risk matrix show that there were three risk events. Tjoekir has to set a conveyor gate to filter canes before being received by the machine, use blades with the thickness not exceed 22 cm to avoid fatigue, and check harvested cane thoroughly that is loaded onto carriers to ensure no machete is accidently loaded with the cane.

Abstract

In a closed-loop supply chain area, the concept of sustainability is one of the primary factors that motivates companies to survive in a dynamic market. The purpose of this paper is to present a literature review of quantitative models in the remanufacturing process, especially mathematical models such as pricing decisions and cost models, reviewed from various scientific journals. Challenges to meet market demands, to boost efficient operational costs, and to increase profits have made researchers interested in deeply exploring this issue. Studies in the reverse supply chain area ensure that the supply process runs effectively and efficiently, meeting a level that is as good as when implementing the forward supply chain. Coordination and collaboration among companies, core acquisition strategy, model character behavior, and reverse channel structure are some characteristics of the quantitative models within the area of a closed-loop supply chain. Mapping was arranged to identify the involvement of research variables (core acquisition cost and remanufactured product price) and factors that were considered in the mathematical model of core acquisition (quantity and quality). Furthermore, the related literature on the issue was analyzed based on the involvement of the considered variables and factors. Finally, future research opportunities are presented as the result of the conducted literature review in this study.

Abstract

Simplification of tomato fruit transportation was applied as the preparation. Three tomato fruit Computer-Aided Design (CAD) geometries had been arranged as the face-centered cubic (FCC), jumble, and traditional patterns. Boundary condition, meshing, and contact were determined to ensure the pattern could be simulated as real as possible. Modal analysis simulation is used to find out the natural frequency and mode shape for each pattern. The result was then extracted for static structure analysis. 5N, 10N, and 15N forces are placed on the top of the fruit pattern. Deformation and normal stress pattern results were analyzed as the reaction when the tomatoes respond to external forces. This research is finding the FCC pattern gives more minimal damage to the fruit.
