Abstract

Pengabdian ini mengeksplorasi penerapan inovasi hijau untuk penghidupan berkelanjutan di komunitas pedesaan di Malaysia melalui program pengabdian masyarakat internasional. Inisiatif ini mengintegrasikan praktik ramah lingkungan dalam bidang pertanian, energi terbarukan, ekowisata, dan edukasi lingkungan dengan pendekatan partisipatif. Metodologi mencakup pemetaan sosial, keterlibatan komunitas, dan implementasi teknologi percontohan seperti kompos dari limbah kelapa sawit, industri bambu lokal, serta panel surya skala kecil. Hasil menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan dalam kesadaran dan kapasitas masyarakat, dengan partisipasi aktif pemuda dan pendidik dalam program edukasi lingkungan.. Pemberdayaan ekonomi terlihat dari terbentuknya usaha komunitas dan penggunaan alat keuangan digital. Studi ini menyimpulkan bahwa pendekatan holistik lintas sektor terhadap inovasi hijau dapat menjadi model yang layak untuk keberlanjutan pedesaan dan direplikasi di wilayah serupa. Temuan ini berkontribusi pada pengembangan ilmu pembangunan berkelanjutan dan memberikan rekomendasi kebijakan untuk memperluas praktik hijau di tingkat akar rumput.

Abstract

The coconut palm (Cocos nucifera) is an economically and culturally significant crop widely cultivated in tropical regions, particularly in Indonesia. However, coconut productivity remains suboptimal due to aging plantations and poor soil conditions. To address this, biofertilizers such as Bacillus nigr have been proposed as sustainable alternatives to chemical fertilizers. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of Bacillus nigr-based liquid organic fertilizer (POC) on the early growth parameters of coconut plants aged 9 to 12 months. Conducted in Deli Serdang, North Sumatra, the experiment involved 38 coconut seedlings divided equally into treatment (POC) and control groups. Data on stem height were collected and analyzed using a T-test. The results demonstrated a statistically significant difference (p < 0.05) in stem height between the POC-treated and untreated plants, with notable growth advantages observed in the control group at 11 and 12 months. However, POC treatment showed promising effects at earlier growth stages (9–10 months). These findings suggest that Bacillus nigr-based POC may influence early vegetative growth, but long-term benefits and dosage optimization require further investigation. This study contributes to the growing body of knowledge on the role of microbial biofertilizers in sustainable coconut cultivation and offers insights for enhancing early-stage coconut growth using environmentally friendly agricultural practices.

Abstract

Shallot (Allium ascalonicum L.) is a horticultural commodity with high economic value, but its productivity is often constrained by declining soil fertility associated with prolonged and intensive inorganic fertilization. This study evaluated the growth and yield response of shallot to various eco-enzyme fertilizer dosages and identified the most effective dosage under polybag-based open-field experimental conditions. The experiment was arranged in a non-factorial Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with five treatments and five replications: E0 (without eco-enzyme), E1 (100 mL plot⁻¹), E2 (200 mL plot⁻¹), E3 (300 mL plot⁻¹), and E4 (400 mL plot⁻¹). Each plot referred to one polybag experimental unit. The observed variables were plant height, number of leaves, number of tillers, fresh bulb weight, and dry bulb weight. The results showed that eco-enzyme dosage affected several vegetative variables at specific observation times, but the response was not uniform across all growth stages. E2 produced the highest plant height at 14, 28, and 42 days after planting (DAP), whereas E3 produced the highest leaf number at 28 DAP. Yield formation was more favorable under the lowest eco-enzyme dosage. Treatment E1 produced the highest fresh bulb weight (167.2 g plot⁻¹) and dry bulb weight (131.2 g plot⁻¹), corresponding to approximately 5.03% and 19.06% increases over the control, respectively. These findings indicate that 100 mL plot⁻¹ was the most efficient eco-enzyme dosage for improving bulb yield of Bima Brebes shallot under the conditions of this experiment.

Abstract

This study examined the effect of an AI-integrated Deep Learning Project-Based Learning model on the critical thinking skills and scientific literacy of Primary School Teacher Education students at a university in Indonesia. A quasi-experimental non-equivalent control group design was employed involving 156 students, with 78 students in the experimental group and 78 students in the control group. Data were collected through critical thinking tests, scientific literacy tests, and a learning engagement questionnaire, then analysed using independent samples t-tests, N-Gain, Cohen’s d, and SEM-PLS. The experimental group achieved higher mean scores in critical thinking skills than the control group (84.28 vs. 71.33) and higher scientific literacy scores (83.10 vs. 71.50). The N-Gain values for critical thinking were 0.71 in the experimental group and 0.46 in the control group, while scientific literacy N-Gain values were 0.69 and 0.47, respectively. Cohen’s d values indicated very large effects for critical thinking skills (4.23) and scientific literacy (4.04). SEM-PLS showed positive relationships between the learning model and engagement (β = 0.72), engagement and critical thinking (β = 0.55), engagement and scientific literacy (β = 0.52), as well as direct effects on critical thinking (β = 0.68) and scientific literacy (β = 0.65). These findings indicate that the model supports meaningful, technology-enhanced learning.
