Abstract

To Examining LGBTQ issues in Indonesia still requires serious time and attention. The church must be at the forefront of providing solutions for the congregation and the country. Before the situation got even worse. This article offers an equal and respectful approach to facing the problems of LGBTQ people. This is the first step that the church must think about so as to encourage the creation of new formulations that are more contextual but biblical. By using several narrations in the book of John, this research produces ways to deal with the problem of sexual deviation, especially from LGBTQ people. The church is encouraged to follow the pattern of the incarnation of Jesus by seeking, having dialogue and being open to all sinners. No longer closing himself and only highlighting his sinfulness. Especially for teenagers who are vulnerable to conditions in modern times and in the future.

Abstract

The media currently plays an important role, one of which is the entertainment media for romantic drama films. Romantic drama films are one of the most popular genres of various age groups. Its presence, which can be enjoyed by various age groups, can cause problems, including for believers. Not infrequently the film presents messages or values that are contrary to religious beliefs. This research answers the question how does the Christian worldview evaluate the romantic genre film? There are many messages from various films circulating in Indonesia that need to be studied. In this context, theological study can be an attempt to analyze the messages and values contained in romantic drama films by using the concept of a Christian worldview. The research method used is descriptive qualitative with a Christian worldview approach. This concept refers to a world view based on Christian religious beliefs, which can help believers understand the moral and spiritual values contained in films. This research shows that various films of the romantic genre from within the country and abroad can influence Christian culture sooner or later to move away from practical theological values. This does not cause someone to stay away from watching that movies.

Abstract

Not only philosophy, ethics, and other fields but also ecclesiological life are facing severe challenges from the impact of digital culture, which continues to develop endlessly. This context encourages the church to think further about something new to predict what will happen and how it should take its role. This article offers a diachronic mission approach examining current and future contexts. The church is a missionary whose identity is to present the values of the Kingdom of God for His glory. This research indicates that the development of digital culture will be contrary to the Christian faith. This digital world is a context that God allows to occur to prepare for life in the church; every believer understands the challenges of transhumanists and cyborgs around them.

Abstract

The doctrine of the resurrection of Christ is one of the foundations in Christianity. But the foundation of this faith continues to be challenged and attacked. One of the attacks came from Rudolf Bultmann, who believed that the resurrection of Jesus Christ was only a spiritual awakening and not even an objective historical reality. In the Indonesian context, there is a tradition called "Rambu Solo." This tradition believes that the slaughter of a buffalo will contribute to keeping the spirits of the dead safe. The doctrine of the resurrection in Corinth was due to a problem of misunderstanding. These situations will continue to occur in various places. Therefore, this article examines Paul's teachings in 1 Corinthians 15, especially verses 1-11 as an attempt to answer the teachings and practices of life that do not understand the work of the resurrection of Jesus Christ. The method used is the biblical exegesis of 1Corinthians 15: 1-11. It is through exegesis that the resurrection of Jesus Christ is an objective historical reality. That He did rise from physical death. The exegesis significance of 1 Corinthians 15:1-11 for Bultmann's teachings and the tradition of "Rambu Solo" indicate that the two are not biblical.

Abstract

Backsliding is a problem occurring among Christians in Myanmar. The author focuses this research on seeking several solutions to the issue of backsliding among Christians in Myanmar by comparing it with the Reformed worldview. The analytical focus is on the educational aspect in the church to address backsliding based on the Reformed worldview. This research was conducted in several stages, including problem identification and its causes, proposing problem-solving ideas. The researcher conducted interviews among Christians and elaborated with various other literary sources. The research findings reveal that the church needs to teach sound doctrines that can help its members grow in their faith and withstand difficult times. Political and religious issues are inseparable, but the fundamental problem is the need for contextual churches. The church needs to love and care for its flock. Additionally, the research finds that contextual churches require influence in every public area. Church leaders in urban areas need to be more educated and aware of the views and sensitivities of various ethnic, class, race, and religious groups. The church, as the body of Christ, should be able to communicate the Word of God honestly and accurately to its members and ensure that they are engaged in Bible classes or groups where they can learn and enjoy fellowship with fellow believers to strengthen their faith.

Abstract

The research problem focuses on the differing perspectives between Christianity and the beliefs of the Saluan community regarding the concept of death and the existence of the soul after death. In Christianity, death is viewed as the final separation of the body and soul. In contrast, in the beliefs of the Saluan community, the soul undergoes a transitional phase known as the Periode Ton. This study aims to analyze the similarities and differences in the concepts of death and the existence of the soul after death in both belief systems. The research employs a qualitative method with a literature review approach. Data were collected from various sources, including books, scholarly journal articles, and previous research findings. The data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model, including data reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that while there are similarities in understanding death as the separation of body and soul, significant differences exist in the existence and influence of the soul after death. In the beliefs of the Saluan community, the soul remains in the physical world until the Mohatu ritual is performed. In contrast, Christianity asserts that the soul immediately enters the presence of God or is separated from Him. In conclusion, this study contributes to contextual theology by integrating cross-cultural understanding.
