Abstract

Perineal rupture is one of the most common complications in normal labour. Infant birth weight is thought to play a role in determining the severity of perineal rupture. This study aims to analyse the relationship between baby's birth weight and the incidence of perineal rupture in mothers giving birth at RSUD Prof. Dr. W. Z Johannes Kupang. Observational research method with cross-sectional design, 46 respondents. Using secondary data with Spearman Rank statistical test. The results of the study were the majority of babies had normal birth weight (2500-4000 grams) by 73.9%, . Most mothers experienced grade 2 perineal rupture (60.9%). Analysis showed a significant association between infant birth weight and the incidence of perineal rupture (p-value = 0.001). Normal birth weight infants were more likely to cause grade 2 ruptures than low birth weight infants, who generally only cause grade 1 ruptures. The conclusion in this study is that infant birth weight affects the severity of perineal ruptures in normal labour. Infants with normal birth weight are more at risk of causing moderate perineal rupture

Abstract

According to The Indonesia Nutrition Status Survey (SSGI) in 2023, Denpasar City has the highest stunting rate among the 9 districts in Bali Province, which is almost double from the previous year (10.8%). Maternal self efficacy in preventing stunting is an important factor that need to be considered. The aim of this research was to analyze maternal self efficacy in preventing stunting in Denpasar City. The research was done in quantitative and qualitative, with a cross-sectional design. The research population consisted of mothers with toddlers aged 6-24 months in the North Denpasar Primary Health Care I, II, and III work areas. The total sample was 203 mothers of toddlers. Quantitative data were collected using questionnaires, while qualitative data were collected through in-depth interviews. The qualitative data analysis process was carried out using the manual coding method by entering the answers of each respondent, using Spearman rank and content analysis. Characteristics of mothers of toddlers: average age 31 years, number of children 2, tertiary education (49.7%), occupation as a housewife (48.8%), income above minimum wage (54.7%), permanent residence status for more than 6 months (86.7%), high self-efficacy (89.9%). The strength of the relationship is moderate with a correlation coefficient of 0.258. The results of the correlation test showed that there is a relationship between self-efficacy towards stunting prevention (p-value 0.08). Mothers who have good self-efficacy will later carry out sufficient stunting prevention. The mother's confidence in ensuring her child's growth and development according to the stages will be able to prevent stunting.

Abstract

The high incidence of nausea and vomiting during pregnancy, which affects 60-80% of primigravidas and 40-60% of multigravidas in Indonesia, can lead to complications such as dehydration and malnutrition if not managed effectively. This can have a negative impact on maternal health and fetal development. While pharmacological treatments are available, non-pharmacological interventions such as acupressure are gaining attention as a safe and effective alternative. This study aimed to determine and compare the effectiveness of acupressure at PC6 and ST36 points in reducing nausea and vomiting among first-trimester pregnant women. A comparative quasi-experimental design was used with a total sample of 50 pregnant women, divided into two groups: one receiving acupressure at PC6 and the other at ST36. The severity of nausea and vomiting was measured using the Pregnancy-Unique Quantification of Emesis and Nausea (PUQE) questionnaire before and after the intervention. The results showed a significant decrease in nausea and vomiting scores in both groups (p < 0.001). The mean score reduction was 6.64 in the PC6 group and 6.32 in the ST36 group. Statistical analysis indicated no significant difference between the two groups, suggesting comparable efficacy (p = 0.214). These findings suggest that acupressure at both PC6 and ST36 points is an effective non-pharmacological method for managing nausea and vomiting in early pregnancy. Thus, ST36 can be considered a viable alternative point for treatment
