Abstract

Biodiesel emerges as a promising solution that can be pursued domestically. This fuel canbe produced from available vegetable oil and animal fat resources. In the context of this research, thefocus is on creating multi-feedstock biodiesel from palm oil, corn oil, and coconut oil. Subsequently, blends of these various biodiesel types are mixed with Pertamina Dex to produce fuels in the forms ofB20, B35, and B100. Tests were conducted on a four-stroke diesel engine utilizing the LSCS piston. The tested variables encompassed engine loads at levels of 1000 Watts, 2000 Watts, and 3000 Watts,as well as engine speed variations at 900 rpm, 950 rpm, 1000 rpm, and 1050 rpm. Within this context, the research's objective was to examine the characteristics of the applied biodiesel and its impact onengine performance. The test results indicate that biodiesel with a B100 blend is capable of meetingIndonesian National Standard (SNI) requirements for flash point, cetane number, calorific value, density, and viscosity. Furthermore, in terms of engine performance, biodiesel with a B20composition has proven to provide optimal results in generating the required power and torque. Moreover, B20 also demonstrates the best performance in achieving the desired gsfc value.

Abstract

Petroleum fuel is one of the fuels that is always used in combustion motors, especially in dieselengines so that abiotic natural resources are limited. Petroleum makes natural resources depleted, whiletransportation facilities and industrial activities are declining. One of them, the use of diesel, which is an abioticnatural resource that continuously in the transportation sector will one day run out, so the thing that needs to beconsidered is the alternative fuel that can be made, namely biodiesel. Biodiesel is a renewable fuel and is generallymade from biological sources (vegetable and animal) and is environmentally friendly. Raw materials from biodieselthat can be used are palm oil, olive oil, canola oil, hazelnut oil, and castor seed oil. In this research I will classify theseraw materials into 2 compositions of multi-feedstock.biodiesel. The first is Multi-feedstock 1 biodiesel contained frompalm oil, olive oil and canola oil. Meanwhile, Multi-Feedstock 2 biodiesel contains palm oil, hazelnut oil, and castorseed oil. The two Multi-feedstock compositions will then be mixed with HSD (Pertamina Dex) so that they become B20,B35, and B100 fuel which will then be tested on Four Stroke Diesel Engines with different piston variations. Whichlater in this study will test with a flat piston chamber then continue using the LSCS piston chamber. For lamp loading,it uses 1000 watt and also data capture using engine rotation variations of 900 rpm, 950 rpm, 1000 rpm, and 1050rpm.

Abstract

The ballast water system are important to maintain ships’s stability during voyage especially when shipnot carrying any cargo. The exchange of ballast water were considered as the main cause of microorganism andbacterias spreading that damaging port water ecosystems. To prevent the damage from harmful microorganism andbacterias on ballast water discharge, in 2004 International Maritime Organization (IMO) established and adoptedBallast Water Management Convention (BWMC). Before complying with IMO BWMC standard, MT GunungGeulis’s existing ballast water system were evaluated and the result says that MT Gunung Geulis are not compatiblewith IMO BWMC standard because still using ballast water exchange method to manage their ballast water. Tocomply with IMO BWMC standard, MT Gunung Geulis need to added ballast water treatment system (BWTS). Basedon journal review to comparing BWTS treatment methods says that filtration + electrolysis method giving the highestefficiency on removing microorganism and bacterias from ballast water. BWTS unit installed on MT Gunung Geulishad three main equipment, filtration unit, electrolysis unit and neutralizer unit from Ocean Guard to be located onturbine and partial deck Filtration unit and electrolysis unit are operated on ballasting process and neutralizationunit injecting neutralizer on deballasting process..

Abstract

Shipyards have facilities that have the potential to cause fires because there is work that generatesheat and contains flammable materials. The existing hydrant system at the shipyard is still simple and does notcover the entire area. Therefore, it is necessary to plan a hydrant system that can cover all areas in accordancewith NFPA and SNI standards. Planning begins with determining the number and placement of hydrant pillars, pipe routing, head loss calculations, and pump selection. The pipeline requires 7.776 m of 8-inch pipe, and 6-inch pipe requires 1915.477 m of pipe. The total head losses obtained from the calculation at the farthesthydrant pillar is 217.426 m. The selected pump is a Wilo 150 GF with a pump head of 240 m and a capacity of1250 US GPM.

Abstract

The challenge when using an outboard engine is that all parts used have been packaged bythe manufacturer, so if there are damaged parts such as a bent propeller, you must buy from anauthorized distributor. In areas that are far from reach, it takes a lot of time and money to get partsofficially. Therefore, a research was conducted as an alternative effort to develop manufacturingtechnology, especially propellers. So that people can choose several options regarding the productsused. To get the same performance and characteristics, manual measurements are taken. But bymeans of measurement alone is not enough to make the image similar to the original, it is necessaryto make improvements with the interpolation method as an approach in drawing the propeller bladeprofile. After the research this method is very effective in drawing the shape of the propeller profilethis is evidenced by the interpolation method the resulting shape looks smoother. In addition, severalother aspects were also measured for propeller similarity. The results of the measurements obtained ablade area value of 19800 mm², a rake angle of 22°, a skew angle of 40°, a root length of 150 mm anda root angle of 90°.

Abstract

This research focuses on the redesign of the sanitary piping system on a passenger ship that sustained damage due to a tropical cyclone in the vicinity of Bolok Port, Kupang. The main objective is to redesign the sanitary discharge system to comply with MARPOL Annex IV and classification rules, which governs sewage pollution prevention from ships. A structured engineering methodology was employed, encompassing adherence to regulations, hydraulic evaluation, selection of system components, and schematic design. The assessment considers the number of crew and passengers to determine system requirements. Based on the analysis, the vessel requires a sewage holding tank with a minimum capacity of 4,11 m³/h. Sanitary discharge piping is specified using DN40 Schedule 80 carbon steel pipes according to JIS standards. Jets STP 600 was chosen as the sewage treatment unit, offering a treatment capacity of 0,6 m³/h and conforming to the standards outlined in IMO MEPC.227(64). This retrofit design aims to improve sanitation efficiency, enhance operational safety, and reduce the environmental impact of wastewater discharge. These results provide a basis for the application of sustainable retrofitting strategies on vessels operating under comparable maritime environments.
